Amazing food and wine pairing! This had to be the best meal we’ve had all year.
This was the one meal I've eaten in the US in the last 30 years that rivals multi-starred restaurants in France, of which I have frequented more than a few.
We shared eight dishes, each different from the others, blending quality principal ingredient with an innovative sauce, each plate combining a range of textures with complementary vegetable, and including a slightly exotic flavor that excited our desire to figure it out before finally giving in and asking our charming server to reveal the answer.
Not inexpensive, but nevertheless great value for money. Break the piggybank.
The food was inventive and delicious, with generous portions for a prix fixe menu
Wonderful dining experience! Amazing food fabulous service. Generous portions.
Always a perfect experience! Spectacular food, excellent service and beautiful surroundings.
The four course menu was excellent from beginning to end. The chef showed imagination in taste and texture making each course unforgettable. Service was perfect.
The tasting menu provided a wonderful variety of food selections and when coupled with the flights of wine, provided for a memorable dining experience. We will return!
The tasting menu was delicious and had enough variety that everyone found something they would like. We really enjoyed all the extras they served too. The corn bread was outstanding. The service was great too. We loved the ambiance . After being in the dark bar downstairs, coming upstairs to a bright, light room was lovely and unexpected. We were also able to find wine that was good but not crazy priced.
Fantastic home-made pasta and hake fish! Really enjoyed my meal!
Love the new chef
Great food. Great service. Great ambiance for relaxed dinner and great conversation. Tasting menu only that probably varies but Everything is delectable so just trust the chef and enjoy.
This Restaurant is a five-star experience. We had an early dinner reservation on Thursday so were seated quickly in a smaller window table and had the place to enjoy for ourselves for a bit. There are only 17 tables available and the space filled before we left so we got to see the evolution of the evening. It’s a prix fixe menu with 4+3extras courses, choice of two per course. Wine pairings also offered but we just ordered by the glass. We chose opposites for each course so we got to try it all; our favs were the cold mint fluke cucumber soup, the tuna carpaccio, chicken manti, local hake, and manjari chocolate cremeux. Also a nice crab butter cornbread and frozen strawberry popsicle surprise. Waitstaff was professional and attentive, and we appreciate that we had a nice leisurely meal in a beautiful space. Will definitely visit again next time we are in town, and would also try Cusser take out for lobster rolls!
Wonderful dinner. Will be going back soon. Great staff.
A wonderful series of tastes in this 4 course menu. Every dish had a "symphony" of flavors.
Eating at Mooncusser is expensive but you will enjoy delicious seafood, thoughtfully and beautifully prepared, spot-on service, and perhaps the most sophisticated, low-key gem of a dining room in Boston
Without a doubt the best meal I've had "post-COVID"! We will back and can't wait to see what Mooncusser and Chef Dooley have in store for us next. The food was delicious and flawlessly executed, but what surprised me was how innovative and creative the flavors were...we kept remarking at how unexpectedly delightful the dishes were, including things we've had before (but not like this!) such as smoked bluefish and things we've never had before, such as house-made corzetti with clams. Also, I am not usually a dessert person but the steamed lemon pudding was one of the best desserts I have ever had. 10/10 recommend for your next meal out and be sure to get the wine pairings!
We love great seafood and this dinner was incredible.
The food here is AMAZING. It's pricey but well worth it for a fantastic meal on a special occasion. It's four courses, plus an amuse bouche and a palate cleanser before dessert, yet I didn't feel overly stuffed. It was the perfect amount of food.
Everything was outstanding. The food is incomparable in Boston. All the dishes were slightly different than the usual and memorable. The wine pairings were perfect. Pricey but worth it on a special occasioon
Terrific, original dishes
The food was innovative and delicious, the service impeccable, the ambience appropriate to a great restaurant.
The service and staff were all welcoming, professional and prompt. The chef clearly has a “vision” for the food—involving a mixture of textures and flavors—but his hand with spices (and even herbs) is *way* too heavy, in many cases obscuring the freshness of the excellent quality seafood, which is a shame. Because of this, I would not go back, unfortunately.
Had a wonderful experience at Mooncusser last night! Service was friendly and professional, space was quiet and elegant. They offer a $90 4-course tasting menu with 2 choices for each course, plus some extras in between (a soup, bread, and palate cleanser). Only 1 course had fish for both choices so if you are dining with someone who is not a seafood fan, there is a fine mix of choices. Food was exceptional. We were not rushed at all and could really take the time to enjoy each bite.
Really delicious food, service was outstanding, friendly and polite staff. Very cool location as well with third floor windows looking out on downtown.
One of the best restaurants in Boston, easily.
We were thoroughly impressed with all aspects of our experience last night. The cuisine was light-handed and imaginative, yet approachable. The wine list and pairings were were thoughtful and well-matched. While the noise level was perhaps a tad higher than we would have appreciated at times, it was a very busy night, and the vibe made up for it. Many thanks to the Mooncusser team - we’ll be back and highly recommend. Complimenti!
We had such a pleasant experience at Mooncusser - the food was so delicious, the waiters were super nice, and Carl (who should have won Top Chef!) even served our entree! Would definitely come back the next time we’re in town and will recommend to all of our local friends!
One of the best meals I have had in Boston. I was a fan of chef Carl Dooley at Table at a Season to Taste in Cambridge. This experience matched my memories there. The thoughtful and delicious composition of every dish (including a bonus ceviche and a bonus soft shell crab) was memorable and outstanding. Each couple ordered one of each choice so we could sample everything on the menu and we are so glad we did. The wine parings are also very well done. The setting at Mooncusser is beautiful. They took down the center wall that was there before COVID and it really opens up the space in a nice way. Service was attentive, knowledgable and helpful in just the right way. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.
Every dish was excellent. Olivia's service was exceptional!
Beautiful restaurant with equally beautiful and delicious food. Perfect spot for a special dinner.
An excellent meal with competent and pleasant staff.
Must go to. The new chef and menu are out of this world. Not usually a fan of courses, but these ingredients and combos are incredible. Highly recommend.
The best food (and value) in Boston. Chef Carl Dooley continues to outdo himself. The staff are professional and lovely. I
A memorable meal! The food, service and ambiance were all top notch.
Enjoyed a great birthday dinner the other night. We opted for the wine pairing with the pre-fixe menu. Clearly fresh ingredients, my favorite dish was the marinated striped bass. Service was amazing, cocktails were craft. I’d go again.
This was a brilliant dinner. My wife and I have been together for 28 years, and this is one of the best meals that we've ever shared. The amuse-bouche with raw halibut and tomatillo on a tortilla was excellent, followed by two delicious crudos for the first course. My second course, an artichoke pasta with lamb, was so good I was giggling. The rest of the dinner was just as good. We recommend the wine pairings for each course. My wife enjoys fine dining, but doesn't eat meat. She was delighted with the seafood that she was served last night. Lovely room, attentive staff. One small complaint--the time between courses tended to lag. But we'll definitely be back.
Stellar food, service, ambiance.
Interesting and delicious dishes complemented extremely well by wine pairings. Great service as well and an interesting space.
Fabulous dinner. Artichoke ravioli and strawberry dessert were outstanding. We will be back!
A mini-Menton and candidate for best fine dining in Boston. Absolutely superb dinner with wine pairings.
