This was the best meal we've had in Boston for several years. Incredible tastes and textures, manageable portion size, engaged chef who came to the table. Loved being able to have a conversation in a quieter place. Will definitely return.
The menu was divine and our service was exceptional. Def a perfect place to go for a special night out.
Good food. Good portions. Excellent staff.
Loved it! Dessert was a little slow and the wine pairing came when we we were almost finished but the food was fantastic, will go back for sure
This was the best restaurant I have gone to in recent date. Definitely do it for a special occasion! We did the tasting + wine pairing and it was delicious and beautiful!
Unbelievable price fixe 4-course menu. Very creative and amazing flavors. Excellent
Outstanding Experience. Chef Carl and his team are fantastic, combining amazing, creative food and top shelf service.
Terrific service, outstanding menu selections and wine pairings, and very interesting food.
Carl is a fantastic chef. Very unique and innovative food. Delightful experience.
We went for dinner during out getaway vacation and enjoyed it! We did wine pairing which was superb and service was also great!! Would go back :)
Wonderful choices on their fixed price menu. Highly innovative, with thoughtful wine pairings. Overall, solidly THE best in Boston IMHO.
Great assortment of wine and food. The almond pound cake dessert with persimmon was just perfect as per French standard 😋
Excellent tasting menu, love Chef Carl Dooley. Ravioli was awesome. Will be back!
Fantastic experience. Made a reservation for our next visit before we even paid!
The food was exquisite and the service impeccable.
Chef Dooley never ceases to amaze with his creative flavors & exquisite compositions. Always feel warmly welcomed at Mooncusser and leave with a smile on my face & a great anticipation for the next menu :)
Excellent dinner. The food had a great taste. Server was excellent and very knowledgeable of everything on the menu. You could not ask for any better food.
Phenomenal meal! The service was incredibly warm, kind and attentive (our server, Olivia, was amazing) and the ambiance was relaxed and intimate. Pro-tip: Get the wine pairing! Excellent makers being poured and each was expertly paired with each course. Very rarely do restaurants fire on all cylinders, especially given the current state of the world—Mooncusser did! Unequivocally.
Mooncusser was a true delight. It is set in a gorgeous space and food and service were absolutely top notch.
Out of control good, food was incredible as were the cocktails and wine. Definitely recommend!
Wonderfully designed and executed menu and exceptional service!
An absolutely wonderful experience. Food pairings were well thought out and exquisite. Each course had a blast of texture and flavor. Presentation was phenomenal. What made it most special was the personal interaction and attentiveness of the staff. Would definitely recommend and personally will return if given the opportunity.
Overall, if you're looking for a tasty meal and a quiet spot, this is a good place to go. First two courses and the dessert were excellent - the third/main dish was a little underwhelming. The also brought out a few rounds of "snacks" that were awesome!
That said - they were almost 45 minutes late getting us seated, and the overall experience took almost 3 hours. If you're planning to go here, make sure its the last stop of your evening.
Great food. Hate to complain but at this price point service was substandard.
Delicious dinner with excellent wine pairing. Well prepared plates and flavors. Only exception was a super fatty piece of duck breast on one plate. The intermezzo of green apple was perfect and replicated the crystalline texture of a green apple bite. Was truly a brilliant finish to the lovely duck course. We will return to celebrate in Boston.
This will be our new go to place for special occasions. Everything was just outstanding - excellent menu choices, attentive but not intrusive service, flavors that worked great together. And not pretentious as fine dining can sometimes be. Fish (Arctic char, bass crudo) was excellent. Butternut squash with short rib risotto was perfectly cooked. Two thumbs up!
My friend and I returned because we so enjoyed our meal there in August. I have rarely been in a restaurant in Boston with such warm, friendly service. The chef masters flavor, texture and eye appeal in every dish. I may want the butternut squash and beef cheek risotto on my list of potential last meals. The wine pairings are wonderful and great fun.
The tasting menu/wine pairings is an awesome culinary journey - don’t hesitate to try!
Good food, good service in a relax environment, good experience
Some of the best food in the city. Excellent wine pairings as well. Staff was helpful and practiced. Very unique dining room with refined taste.
I was just going out to another Boston restaurant and had no idea the treat I was in for. Don’t be turned off by the street entrance as the restaurant is 3 floors up. The front door leads to a regular after work bar but the restaurant is upstairs.
Upon arrival We were met by a gracious host downstairs who took us up to the restaurant. After being seated we were met by staff who presented the menu and cocktail and wine selections.
Out menu was a fixed menu with wine pairings. Though fixed we had a choice of two for each course.
We started with a complimentary tuna tostados presented and explained in detail at our table by the chef. It was so good that I realized that I was somewhere special. I googled the chef and realized I was.
Not only was each course magnificent, so was the service. We had several staff presenting our courses and each member knew exactly what was prepared and how special each course was.
I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed my evening at Mooncusser.
I’m in Boston til the end of November and I can wait to go back.
Great service and great food - subtle flavors that meld together to create a wonderful dining experience. The wine pairings complement the food perfectly
Highly recommend. Had the October menu and it was outstanding. The wonton soup and smoked trout dish stood out the most in a terrific meal. Carl was clearing tables which gave the meal a very genuine experience. Only complaint is the setup and decor are a little off, could use some refining.
My boyfriend and I went there for the first time for my birthday dinner last night. It was one of the BEST dinners we’ve ever had (and we are big foodies). Every dish from start to finish was phenomenal. Highly recommend going to Mooncusser if you live in Boston or are visiting from out of town.
Truly a special place. The feel is chic and the food is spectacular! Don’t miss this spot.
Mooncusser did not disappoint. I will be back for sure!!!
Expensive but for a special evening very much worth it. The menu selections, though very limited, are outstanding in terms of creativity with an outstanding array of flavors and textures. People with dietary restrictions might struggle with the limited choices. The servers were very helpful and knew the food. If you are looking for an interesting and innovative meal and are not dining on a budget, this is one place to definitely try. The dining room, even half full, is quite noisy.
This is what dining out should be about!!!
Well prepared and balanced “fixed” menu.
Interesting flavor combinations and textures.
Congratulations to the chef.
It’s a fish restaurant but I had one of the best bruschetta ever. Reflecting the original farm worker one, this shows how the chef and the team are serious about details, consistencies, tastes, presentation. An epicurian experience.
