My friend and I returned because we so enjoyed our meal there in August. I have rarely been in a restaurant in Boston with such warm, friendly service. The chef masters flavor, texture and eye appeal in every dish. I may want the butternut squash and beef cheek risotto on my list of potential last meals. The wine pairings are wonderful and great fun.
The tasting menu/wine pairings is an awesome culinary journey - don’t hesitate to try!
Good food, good service in a relax environment, good experience
Some of the best food in the city. Excellent wine pairings as well. Staff was helpful and practiced. Very unique dining room with refined taste.
I was just going out to another Boston restaurant and had no idea the treat I was in for. Don’t be turned off by the street entrance as the restaurant is 3 floors up. The front door leads to a regular after work bar but the restaurant is upstairs.
Upon arrival We were met by a gracious host downstairs who took us up to the restaurant. After being seated we were met by staff who presented the menu and cocktail and wine selections.
Out menu was a fixed menu with wine pairings. Though fixed we had a choice of two for each course.
We started with a complimentary tuna tostados presented and explained in detail at our table by the chef. It was so good that I realized that I was somewhere special. I googled the chef and realized I was.
Not only was each course magnificent, so was the service. We had several staff presenting our courses and each member knew exactly what was prepared and how special each course was.
I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed my evening at Mooncusser.
I’m in Boston til the end of November and I can wait to go back.
Great service and great food - subtle flavors that meld together to create a wonderful dining experience. The wine pairings complement the food perfectly
Highly recommend. Had the October menu and it was outstanding. The wonton soup and smoked trout dish stood out the most in a terrific meal. Carl was clearing tables which gave the meal a very genuine experience. Only complaint is the setup and decor are a little off, could use some refining.
My boyfriend and I went there for the first time for my birthday dinner last night. It was one of the BEST dinners we’ve ever had (and we are big foodies). Every dish from start to finish was phenomenal. Highly recommend going to Mooncusser if you live in Boston or are visiting from out of town.
Truly a special place. The feel is chic and the food is spectacular! Don’t miss this spot.
Mooncusser did not disappoint. I will be back for sure!!!
Expensive but for a special evening very much worth it. The menu selections, though very limited, are outstanding in terms of creativity with an outstanding array of flavors and textures. People with dietary restrictions might struggle with the limited choices. The servers were very helpful and knew the food. If you are looking for an interesting and innovative meal and are not dining on a budget, this is one place to definitely try. The dining room, even half full, is quite noisy.
This is what dining out should be about!!!
Well prepared and balanced “fixed” menu.
Interesting flavor combinations and textures.
Congratulations to the chef.
It’s a fish restaurant but I had one of the best bruschetta ever. Reflecting the original farm worker one, this shows how the chef and the team are serious about details, consistencies, tastes, presentation. An epicurian experience.
Food and service was excellent! Highly recommend trying the cocktails, we have 3 and they were all fantastic. A wonderful experience from start to end. 10/10 would recommend
One of the most approachable tasting menus we have ever had. We got plenty of food for the price and the wine pairings were fabulous. I loved that Carl, the chef, visited and brought food to each and every table. You never see that anymore.
Going back monthly!
Great food presented artistically, with varied textures and tastes. Attentive waitstaff accommodating specific requests due to dietary restrictions and needs. We sat at the same table as on our previous visit and the waitress remember us and our interests from July. Fabulous location for special occasion celebration!
One of the best meals I've ever had! The lobster and veal sweetbreads in butter sauce was fantastic. Servers were knowledgable and attentive. Wine pairings were perfectly selected. We booked another reservation as soon as the menu changes in 2 weeks
Our favorite restaurant by far! Everything was perfect!
This was our second visit. My wife eats fish, but no meat, so the beautifully prepared fish available for each of the three savory courses is a huge plus. Our first visit was one of the best dining experiences that we've every enjoyed. This second visit was quite good. The second amuse-bouche was delicious but quite filling--lot of bread. My lamb carpaccio starter and sweetbreads/lobster curry were both dominated by one flavor note. In the case of the lamb, it was difficult to discern which bites were actually the lamb. My wife out-ordered me with the corn cappeletti for the second course. As the server explained, they were going for a high-end riff on Mexican street corn, and they delivered. We both had the black bass for the third course, which was just right--the perfect combination of textures and flavors. The crisp for dessert was rich with butter. A very knowledgeable staff explains each course and each paired wine, which I recommend. In terms of the general execution, this is what high-end dining is supposed to be about. But, although I'm someone who enjoys spicy food, I thought my first two courses lacked nuance. But we'll be back.
The food was sublime and the service impeccable. The publicized courses exceeded expectations but the little surprises were even better. The only disappointment was that it was a bit noisy - challenging fir a four-person conversation.
Highly recommend. One of the best chefs in Boston.
Loved the creative food and fabulous service. We will definitely go again.
We chose Mooncusser based on a recommendation from a friend, and we are extremely happy we did! The restaurant is tidy and clean, with tasteful décor and style.
The service was magnificent. Seriously, every single person who stopped by the table (including the chef/owner and general manager) made our experience better. Whether bringing the next dish or stopping by to check in, they did nothing but improve the experience.
The tasting menus were creative, cogent, and most importantly, delicious. We opted for the wine pairings, and they were also well chosen.
If there was any complaint, it's that the tasting menus seems to rotate monthly, which means I need to wait two whole weeks before seeing what they come up with next! We're already looking forward to our next visit.
This really is an excellent choice for a date night or even just to treat yourself to an elevated dining experience. I recommend Mooncusser without hesitation.
The prix fixe was great, and they always have a great wine list.
Food was excellent. One of the very best restaurant in Boston
Beautiful food. Thoughtful wine pairings. Excellent service. Lovely evening
Exceptional. Best dinner we have had in the city in a long time. Course after course had unique flavors, fresh tasting, and plentiful. We certainly had a "global" experience and can't wait to go back for the next season's menu.
Amazing four-course meal with a great wine pairing. Loved the Indian and Thai influences.
Over spiced an overpriced
Amazing. Would like to go every month for the new menu if I can!
This was a memorable dinner. From the amuse bouche which was a mezze assortment with delicious Turkish bread to the dessert, every dish was a combination of being visually beautiful, wonderful textures and flavors that invigorated every taste bud. The waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive. They were well versed on the content of each dish. There is also wine pairings available. Again the waitstaff provided information about the wine, the grape, where it was produced and the anticipated tastes. I loved Carl Dooley at the Table in Cambridge.
Now his artful cooking is surrounded by upscale ambience. I cannot wait for his next menu.
This is our second visit since the reopening. The portions are generous. The tastes are bold and we liked it. The one comment we have is to ease up a bit on the spiciness of some of the dishes. We also enjoyed the desert which was tasty and creative. The service was excellent although the food came a bit slower than the usual. We will repeat.
Great restaurant. Expensive, but a lot of food and extremely fresh. Highly recommend.
We love getting both options on the prefix menu and trading dishes each course. It’s a lot of fun to taste everything on the menu, especially with such an awesome and creative chef!
Very exotic menu, drinks are very delicious, waiters very professional and carrying,
the flatbread and the baba ghanoush were excellent. We enjoyed the fluke. I liked the magliatele but the curry flavor overwhelmed the halibut. The swordfish was very good but would have preferred less peppers. The sorbet palate cleanser was needed before the banana pudding with chocolate sorbet.
I loved the casual yet intimate setting of the 4-course tasting meal choice. I personally liked not having to spend a lot of time choosing what to order, and the flavors were surprising in a great way. The service was great, the chef came out to speak to each table individually, and the whole experience was definitely worth the price.
Life-changing food and down-to-earth, friendly service -- Chef Dooley imparts his style on this seafood restaurant with approachable yet elevated amuse bouches, tasteful palate cleansers, and layers of funky-fresh flavors in every dish. Words can't describe the treat that is this food! The staff was incredibly professional and knowledgable, but this elegant dining room doesn't feel stuffy. Everyone was incredibly warm and generous, and we left feeling so taken care of.
Love the ambiance, airy, modern and elegant. The food is amazing, both fresh and complex in taste, and at times very delicate like the steamed black bass. The chef always add something crunchy like nuts to create a wonderful texture in every bite. His treatment of swordfish was fantastic. He made his round with the guests and so nice.
