Founded in 2014 in Chicago by cousins Jared Rouben (Brewmaster) and Jeremy Cohn (CEO), Moody Tongue is built on the philosophy of culinary brewing, appealing to those with a discerning palate or, as Rouben describes, a "moody tongue." Utilizing his extensive culinary background and brewing education, Rouben approaches brewing with a chef's mindset. In 2019, the brewery relocated and expanded to launch two dining concepts: (1) a lively, à la carte restaurant, THE BAR, and (2) an elevated, intimate fine dining restaurant, THE DINING ROOM, helmed by Executive Chef James Bingham. Since opening, Moody Tongue has been honored to receive stars in the Chicago MICHELIN Guide in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Functioning as both a comfortable tasting room and lively venue featuring a la carte menu items from Executive Chef James Bingham, The Bar showcases Moody Tongue's collection of perennial beers alongside a number of limited release offerings from specialty beer programs such as the brewery's whiskey and wine barrel-aging program and the renowned rotating Farmers Market Series. The Bar's high-end design showcases mid-century modern furniture, creative lighting, a historic library of brewing books, and a statement fireplace, all within the preservation of the building’s original industrial features.

We are thrilled to introduce our new eight course tasting menu experience, available with our optional renowned curated beer pairing.
In a polished yet warm, minimalist setting, Executive Chef James Bingham's signature fare intersects with innovative beer pairings, highlighting both the seasonal ingredients used in creating each dish as well as Moody Tongue's acclaimed culinary brewing techniques.
Reservations are available exclusively at 6:30pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays as well as 6:00pm and 8:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays. (Please note: beginning Friday, June 6th, our 8:00pm weekend seating time will be adjusted to 8:30pm going forward.) Reservations must be completed at least 24 hours in advance; however, for reservations requests on shorter notice, please e-mail contact@moodytongue.com.
