The food was amazing.
The service and atmosphere amazing.
Going back there in 2 weeks
We loved, loved, loved this restaurant. The food was outstanding, as was our service. The ONLY downside is we live in N. County and can’t get back there tonight to try more of the beautiful items on the menu. We shared the fig and prosciutto flatbread, the Italian sausage and mushroom pasta, and finished with the Amalfi lemon cake. The couple sitting next to us had 4 totally different items and were just as impressed as we were with their food. So we already know what we’ll be having when we return… hopefully soon!
The best fresh pasta outside of Italy!!❤️
Amazing service and even better food. Pasta is unbelievable. We will be returning very soon! Thank you for a great night!
Dined outside an a pop out patio. Excellent service from every staff member. The tagliatelle with bolognese sauce was outstanding, as was the oversized cheese raviolis. A fried mozzarella appetizer with absolutely fresh made mozzarella was also excellent. Wine list was short but solid and very fairly priced. Charming and family owned and run. A great choice if you are anywhere near Petco Park.
Great food and awesome service.
Authentic Neapolitan recipes. Quality ingredients. Very impressed.
Tried out the 3 Year Anniversary Brunch . Went with a group and tried all the salate dishes - all dishes were solid except the Cacio e Pepe. Good service and food came out pretty quick. Best one was the pizza.
Monzu was a great, unique dining experience. Romantic outdoor dining with an amazing atmosphere. We had the bolognese and green pesto pasta. Is a lot more filling than it looks! Will look forward to coming back here.
The food was excellent, although note that the red bomb is really spicy. Service was great and the little patio they built is charming.
Always so good!
Neighbor hood Gem!
What an amazing meal! We just expected some good pasta, but it was beyond expectations! The servers were also amazing. Highly highly highly recommend!
Great home made pasta. Scallops excellent. Would love to see gluten free home made pasta and more seafood choices for protein. Otherwise go and check it out.
Lovely meal, excellent service, wonderful ambience! We will definitely go back when we want delicious pasta and a friendly vibe!
Wow, truly Amazing tastes from a variety of very fresh Pasta. Truly great recommendations here and on Yelp, and every dish has perfect proportions for each course! Quite the gem
Food and service was great. Only problem was that we did not get credit for our open table reward, which was $50.
Amazing food! Wonderful service! Absolutely delightful!!
If you love fresh pasta this is the best place downtown. As someone who has travelled to Sicily and across Italy, I can say, with confidence, that the flavors and detailed preparation techniques definitely hit the mark at Monzu. You will not be disappointed.
Best pasta around town
Best Italian ever. Get the gnocchi.
Amazing second time of a million more to come
The food was good the restaurant itself lacks ambiance. Wish they would add more to menu
Went there for the first time for my birthday. They were very attentive and friendly. Ambience was AMAZING and the food was great! Would definitely be going back and recommend!
Best pasta around, greatest owners and staff. Unreal food.
The people are very nice. I can see they are really trying. The food was average. My pasta was stuck together and sauce didn’t have much flavor. We did really like the flatbread. The wine list needs some work. The lemon cake was yummy but the creme brûlée wasn’t set so it was soupy. And the seating is super uncomfortable and the benches around the edges has dirt on them. I have mixed feelings on this place. It was decent but I wouldn’t go back.
I LOVE Monzu! It's my favorite pasta that I've had in all of California (seriously).
Great food and menu choices. On the casual side which is great . All of our group of 5 agreed will definitely go back.
Best Italian in San Diego. Home made taste.
Hands down the best pasta I've had. Even better than in Italy! Tried several dishes and they were all amazing.
Monzu was amazing! There is nothing like fresh pasta!
Absolute gem of a restaurant in a desert of mediocrity. Probably the best meal I've had in San Diego so far.
Monzu’s passion is transmitted beautifully in its menu that really sparks the brain for thinking about what authenticity means in regional Italian cuisine. Becoming a frequent visitor to San Diego, I am thrilled about discovering Monzu and it is in my rotation for must-visit restaurants.
This time, the spring menu included fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with mozzarella -a textural delight serve with a bit of zucchini spaghetti, arugula and cherry tomatoes. The entree was spaghetti with pesto and clams. The peppery bite of the pesto brings out the pine nuts. Smart Italian wine pairings round out the lovely experience.
Always great food.
Great food and service. Honestly, we had some of the best Italian food here we have ever had in the US!
Good selection on the menu. Seated promptly - was a few minutes early for my reservation but there was no one else in the restaurant. I was grateful they had space inside since it was unusually chilly to utilize the large outdoor space they have set up to accommodate Covid restrictions. Was unsure on wine choice so the server offered samples of both which I appreciated. Ordered the cheese and black pepper ravioli with the Bolognese sauce. Pasta was a bit too al dente for my liking but the filling was wonderful. Would have loved a bit of red pepper flakes on top but overall a flavorful sauce.
The food is truly great! Aldo the owner uses Neopolitan recipes and the fresh pasta is delicious! The outdoor dining is on a busy street so not the best ambience but the indoor space is comfortable and light. Wait staff are very friendly and helpful! Would go again in a heartbeat!
Delicious hidden gem! So happy I found this place and can’t wait to go back to try another dish.
As always, love going to Monzu and trying their specials as well as our much loved items (carbonara and Red Bomb!)
As an Italian, I'm always a bit skeptical about Italian restaurants in the US...well, Monzu definitely made me change my mind! Had the pinsa first and then the "special of the day": simply terrific! as for the risotto, the pic speaks for itself ;) well done guys, will come back for sure
I am Italian and this is my favorite Italian restaurant in town. It helps that the two owners, Serena and Aldo, are present and delightful. The appetizers are delicious and for main course my partner had Bolognese tagliatelle, our kid devoured “pinsa” (like pizza, but lighter), and I indulged in the seafood risotto. Wine is carefully chosen by Aldo and I would not skip on dessert. Lovely unpretentious place, kind people, festive atmosphere, great outdoor patio with heated lamps, dog-friendly. We always have the best time at Monzu!
