Montgomery Inn- The Boathouse (Downtown)
Sports fans will love the upstairs sports lounge with sports memorabilia on the walls, as well as the autographed photos of famous visitors who have dropped by. So come on in and get yourself some ribs and watch your favorite team in a fun, classy atmosphere.
Our world-famous ribs are definitely a hard act to follow but we found a way. For dessert, indulge in another Cincinnati culinary tradition: Graeter's black raspberry chip ice cream.

I took my family of 6 to the early afternoon reservation where we were seated and served in an orderly and timely manner treated with courtesy and kindness I will be back many thanks
The food was amazing. The entire way home, we all kept saying how good everything was. We walked along the river a bit before dinner, and then got drinks out on the balcony. It was a beautiful evening.
Food was underwhelming and service was very slow. Disappointed in the experience because the view is AMAZING.
I was disappointed in the ribs. They were over-cooked and not as tender as I've enjoyed at Montgomery Inn in the past. The service was just "OK" as well. This has always been one of my favorite restaurants, but, may be awhile before I give it another shot.
This is my son's favorite restaurant and we went with out of town guests for his birthday. It was great. We are always happy when we choose this restaurant - either location.
We are from Georgia and when we visit Cincinnati this is a must come too every time when we are in town . Great food friendly atmosphere all around great place
We were only in Cincinnati for one night and a friend recommended your restaurant. The issues we had were the ribs were warm not hot like food should be served. I asked for my ribs to be charred and lighted sauced, not charred or lightly sauced.. I would of thought charging $29.00 each for a slab of ribs they would have been outstanding. They were tender and practically falling of the bone.
We were starving and didn't want to wait so we ate half of our ribs and left. If I return I would try again but make a point how I like my ribs.
Ribs and service were great, my GF got the pork chop that was dry and over cooked. Meal was comped but still expected more for the prices.
Food was good are waiter kyle was great however there waiting to get seated even though you made reservations sucked your time is not important to them
My Boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience at the boathouse. We spent the night in cincy for his Birthday. It was our 1st time visiting Montgomery Inn. The food, atmosphere, and serive was amazing. We had a nice view of the river. The Ribs and sauce was delicious. The brisket was a little tough but full of flavor. We will definitely visit again!
Such a beautiful site! We are from Chicago and have never been disappointed when we are in Cincy! Everyone had ribs and chicken except me. I had the California salmon and highly recommend it!
I hate to say this but I have been going to Montgomery Inn in Montgomery and Boathouse for years and this special occasion (Wife’s Birthday) was the worst service and food (cold) that we have experienced. I thought maybe the waitress was overwhelmed however I know they train their staff very well. It will be awhile before we return.
If you like your ribs falling off the bone then this is your place. I like mine with a little bite but they were tasty. It’s a great view of the river.
Excellent restaurant. One of Cincinnati’s finest! Fantastic wait staff! Excellent food and drink!
Great views of the Ohio River at night. Delicious food. Great service. Used Open Table App to book our reservations with no problems. Ample parking.
My wife and I attended following a sporting event and this was the place for a good celebratory dinner. The fans of the losing team even enjoyed licking their wounds over some amazing bbq. Ron, our server, was amazing and never let my glass get half empty. Our food was warm, fresh, and falling off the bones good! Whether you're out for an afternoon lunch or a night on the town, if you want some superb bbq, this is the place to be!
6 of us went for my Mom and Dad's 40th anniversary and had a wonderful time. We were a bit worried about wait times because the Bengals were playing in town earlier that day, but we were seated immediately. Our waitress continually checked if we needed anything in an unobtrusive way. The food was hot and delicious across the board - everything from the spring chicken to the ribs to the hamburger our party ordered.
Great view, good ambiance, and consistently prepared food. Service was efficient and overall the experience was enjoyable considering this is a high volume, high turnover establishment.
we enjoyed the food here and had a great experience. The noise level was high as there were several big parties going on and the service was exceptional. We will be back and we will recommend this to others.
Always a great experience at the Boathouse. Terrific food, excellent service, great views and a great value. The Original Ribs cannot be beat....
Made a reservation on Open Table and when we arrived we were told that they don’t have “reservations” it’s merely priority seating. We had to wait 45 minutes.
Best ribs in the entire country! Love this place! Drove from Chicago just to eat here again! Definitely worth the 6 hour drive.
Our waiter was outstanding. Everything was perfect. We must go to The Boat House more often.
Probably the best ribs and brisket I ever had. Falls right off the bone.
This was our first time eating at Montgomery Inn, and overall it was a very good experience. Our server was extremely good, and we loved the view of the river. We will definitely be returning to The Boathouse.
A fun beautiful evening! Raspberry chocolate chip ice cream was the best. Great place to celebrate any occasion
My family was in from the United States and I wanted to show them something that was special in Cincinnati and of course this fit the requirement. It was very enjoyable
Great food with wonderful service . Our waitress was very attentive and helpful
The ribs as expected were excellent. Other diners found the pulled chicken dry. The waiter was excellent and attentive. The seating was right by the window overlooking the river even though I forgot to request it. It was a birthday and the setting did make it special along with the service.
When we arrived they were not aware of our outside seating request, despite that I made request during reservation. Service was initially slow as took at least 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. Once the server began she was friendly and efficient, attentive to us. Food was only fair as the Brisket was rather fatty, the Brussel spouts were amazing! My husband said ribs were average, yet my mom’s brisket sandwich was tasty and not fatty. Maybe that’s the way to order it!
Is great to be on river as atmosphere is very nice!
I have been going to Montgomery Inn Cincinnati since it was a little tiny place on Reading Road and watched it grow into the fabulous restaurants that are now in Cincinnati. the food is excellent, the ribs are to die for, and the service was very good!
The Boathouse was our destination after a walk along The Banks and crossing The Purple People Bridge. A wonderful day and so enjoyed our meal looking at the river and people walking by. Our wait staff was very attentive and we cleaned our plates the food was so good!
Amazing experience! Haven’t been in a few years and was disappointed to discover they discontinued their all beef ribs. My beef brisket was still delicious though!
The hostesses were rude and unprofessional. Had an attitude. The waitress was very nice. Had reservations for 7:15 but was told we still had another 1/2 to wait. WSs only seated a c tee 55 minutes b/c we told them how awful hostess staff was . Will never go back again.
Great Cincinnati Favorite! Always a wonderful place to have a nice quiet meal or to celebrate with friends or family.
Food was dry and taste less. I would not recommend.
Awesome ribs and strawberry shortcake. Simply awesome.
The hostess at the front desk was very unfriendly and acted like I was putting her out. The ribs I got were so overcooked. I did not complain but the waitress noticed it and it was taken off my bill. The view was great but that was the only thing that was great.
As always we were not disappointed The Boathouse may just be our favorite place to dine. We will be back!
What a big disappointment. Haven't back to Cincinnati for years but I still remember the ribs at the old Montgomery Inn. Loved the atmosphere at The Boathouse, and had good service. But when the ribs came out we were really saddened. The two of us had both a full slab and half slab orders of the back ribs. The full slab one was extremely dried out, even tough and barely warm. It was as if they were left from a day before and barely rewarmed in a microwave. And they were covered thick with that very sweet sauce that tasted little better than ketchup. The half slab order was not so dried out, but still didn't have the wonderful smoky flavors I think I remember. And again, that sauce (which maybe some love) is just sickeningly sweet to both of us. Overall the ribs were just a huge disappointment. But the funniest was the side of "vegetable medley" which was literally stone cold uncooked (raw) and totally unseasoned onions, peppers, and zucchini. I've attached a picture. And in Ohio in September we really thought a featured strawberry shortcake would be fresh not frozen berries -- and not served in a bowl swimming in watery strawberry liquid that made the shortcake totally a soggy mess. Wow -- our mistake. I realize it's popular and the place was jammed, but frankly I've had way better ribs many places. Did we complain? No, not at all, if those are the ribs they serve (and obviously they serve lots of them) and if people love that soggy watery shortcake and raw cold unseasoned vegetable sides, then I guess it's just us.
