It resembles old Roman “Fraschette” offering a wide selection of artisanal cheeses and cured meats, cold dishes from Roman tradition and a modern take on Pinsa, a low fat, low calorie and easy to digest flat bread made with a blend of rice, soy and wheat flour imported directly from Rome, all GMO free.
Our wine list represents mostly old world regions. We carry wines that are made from grape varietals native to their respective areas. We feature smaller producers of less known wines with a focus on organic, biodynamic and natural agriculture.

Amazing food. Small locale. Not for a leisurely meal
Been here many times
Despite the gritty neighborhood. This place offers great atypical Italian food and pizza for reasonable price,.Always ready for a return visit
I was surprised to know this gem exists in the neighbourhood after living for years in North Beach/Little Italy. Also, the ambiance is great and gives an old world vibe tucked in a “secret” alley. I highlight recommend the menu for everyday dining with friends or a date night.
Close to Golden Gate theater, but an amazing dining experience! Will be back. Staff is very accommodating and knowledgeable
Pinsa’s and desserts were delicious.
Our round table was not in a great location , right behind hostess stand.
It gets quiet loud which gives it an energetic feeling but difficult to hold conversations .
Service was very attentive and friendly ! Ambiente is funky , make sure you check out the restroom .
Incredibly charming with great service and authentic cuisine. You really feel like you are in a bistro in Italy, and the pinsa style pizza is amazing.
I appreciated the fact that the host checked everyone’s vaccine cards and IDs. Friendly staff. Energetic space. Always happy when I return.
My dining partner snd I both had toe Restaurant Week special. Two courses first a vegetable cauliflower hash
Delicious. Second a Roman style pizza
Really tasty Took leftovers…too good to waste
Perfect location for those going to Golden Gate Theatre to see a play...only a block away. Food was outstanding, very friendly/personable staff. Nice wine and beer selection. Recommend making reservations, as it is a small venue. A friend recommended Montesacro to me, and I will definitely recommend it to my friends!
A lovely place near the theater. The food was delicious!
Absolutely lovely experience! Food was amazing. Lovely outdoor seating experience! Everything was great!
The service was horrible, food average
fresh and tasty food...busy when we were there but service was good and the food came promptly. We will go back.
Delicious hidden gem. Food is fresh and tasty! Service and staff are busy and efficient!
The food was great (pesto was fantastic) and terrace was super cozy. I was so excited to try this place and want to rate it 5 stars, but the timeliness of the dinner was just unacceptable.
We made a reservation for 7:30pm and did not get sat until 8pm. Once we were at our table we were not greeted until 8:15 when we immediately ordered. I tried not to check my watch, but it took 20 minutes to get my glass of wine (apps were served before and my boyfriend was half way through his beer when it was finally served - you would think that would have been comped off?). We were never given a dessert menu and after waiting quite a while we flagged someone down for the check.
It was a very long process and if you have good time and aren’t super hungry then I recommend it, but be prepared to wait.
This place is a gem and I have dined there at least half a dozen times all before shows but I would avoid doing so in the future. After being seated for our reservation, it took our waitress 20 minutes to take our drink (and food) order. She seemed overwhelmed and confused for much of the night. At one point, she put down and then removed a meal on the table next to us. After a hour an 15 minutes, our meal still not arrived and we had to leave. I saw a lot of to go orders leaving so i suspect that was slowing down the in-restaurant dining experience. It's a lovely and charming spot but if you have anywhere to be allot yourself (way) more time than you think you need.
Charming restaurant with excellent food and delightful servic
As always, Montesacro, is a true authentic Italian delight!!! If you are a resident of the Bay Area, it is the shortest trip you will ever make to Italy!! Superb authentic cuisine and extraordinary service by their new wait-person, Samantha!!🙏❤️
Delicious and easy!
Absolutely amazing food and wine. Could not have picked a better spot for true Italian.
Great pizza and service
Check in was ridiculous and 35 minutes behind. we had tickets to a show, so we reserved accordingly. had to rush to eat....One guy checking in and bussing tables. not efficient at all and very confusing. Service was non existent. we got checked on three times. once to order, once to deliver food and once when we asked for check. bring your own salt and pepper LOL....They definitely are under staffed. The people are nice but never check in on you. Prices are reasonable and the food is fresh. I would not say the best I have ever had, but very fresh. Not a lot of flavor. I’m so sad that we were very underwhelmed. Neighborhood is very sketchy at night with homeless lining every inch of the area on the sidewalks.(just so you are aware) one and done.
I loved it! It transports you to the heart of a bustling city in Italy with the ambiance. The food is simple, authentic, and delicious. Came here on a whim because I saw reviews, TRUST THE REVIEWS!
Delicious original food and space. An amazing find I’ll go back to anytime
Saturday lunch - Outstanding Food! High quality ingredients, well prepared in fun imaginatively decorated space. Exceeded all our expectations. Already planning what we will order next time.
Incredible flavors and textures. Pinsa! Pinsa!
Great pizza and salad.
Bit on the expensive side 2 pizzas salad and a glass of wine over $100 dollars .
Expect a trip thru a homeless camp to enter the restaurant.
Overall a very good experience but pricy.
It was great, we had a lovely time at Montesacro. The atmosphere and food were really tops!
Food was great. I expected more from the pizza to stand out but it wasn’t anything out of this world. However, the gnocchi was to die for!!!!!!!
I can't wait to go back! The food, wine, ambience, ... everything is fantastic!
Highly recommended. Awesome food. Wait staff overstretched.
Food was incredible!
Food is amazing! It was my third visit and it is consistently wonderful. Very nice staff and the pinsa is outstanding.
Feels like you are in Italy. Great food. Well thought out menu
Excellent service. The pinsa was TO DIE FOR!! Didn’t try the focaccia but will make sure I do next time.
We always have great meals here and were happy that it was open on a holiday! This was our first time here for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised with the broccolini in the pork sandwich! It was really good. We will be back again!
The food is always top notch and the service is superb
Beautiful ambiance, great service and very accommodating. Food was great. Will definitely be coming here every time I’m visiting the City.
Small Italian restaurant with authentic Italian food. Service was great. Don’t walk down Stevenson to get to restaurant. Sketchy street. Walk down Market.
We sat upstairs on the terrace and it was amazing! The food, the wine (from Giovanni’s Escuela de Vino), the ambiance, the service, … we can’t wait to go back. Also, Antonio was a fabulous server and made the meal extra special. We felt like we were on vacation.
