Festive place to spend your Thanksgiving dollars, and leave the cooking to the experts! Especially delicious were the Starters: imaginative takes on familiar salads and both the lobster pasta and the miso-glazed sea bass were DIVINE! Our waiter was especially kind and attentive- we liked him a lot!

We never had a server. We had to flag down someone every time we wanted a drink, plate clearing, and our check. No one welcomed us to the buffet when we sat down leaving us sitting there for 10 minutes waiting to get our drink order taken. We got up and got food when it was taking so long. We didn’t get our drinks until 20 minutes after our reservation time. Other tables were being served consistently and it felt very disappointing to be ignored that way. Food was delicious though.

Thanksgiving buffet - generous buffet, seafood, prime rib and turkey with all the fixings well stocked and never crowded. It was a very pleasant way to celebrate Thanksgiving. While not inexpensive considering all that was included I felt it offered great value. Staff was gracious and attentive

We wanted to be able to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner at the Monterey Plaza Hotel but too many things affected our overall dining experience. The setting was a lower level conferencing / ballroom with no windows. A two person ensemble played music, which would have been lovely, had the acoustics in the space allowed you to enjoy it AND have a conversation with your table. We traveled a distance and had our reservation for quite some time in advance, but when we were seated, we were given a small table at the edge of the room within 2 feet of the bussing station. Not only was it visually unsightly, but as used plates, glassware and utensils started to collect, so did the combination of left-over food smells. The meal itself was a buffet - an expectation for a holiday meal at a public venue. The price was advertised as $135 per person as if it were a prix fixe price, when in reality, that did not include a 20% included gratuity and taxes, for a total of $117 extra. The gratuity covered one waiter pouring water and bussing dishes, not actually table service. While the options on the buffet were extensive and took into account various dietary preferences which was a positive, the quality of the food was average. Our table sampled every item available - from the appetizers, salads, main course options to desserts - and commented on the flavor, freshness, and variety. The seafood [shrimp cocktail, oysters on the half shell, and crab claws] tasted strange, so we decided not to finish as our stomachs were upset after the initial tasting. All in all, had the meal been in a more pleasant venue, at the price advertised, then it would have been closer to meeting our expectations for a holiday meal in a hotel. But given the fact that the bill came to over $400 for 2 persons, not only seems outrageous, but unacceptable. We spend many holidays on the road so it's safe to say, dining again at the Monterey Plaza Hotel is in our rear view mirror.

My husband and I took our mom's to the Mother's Day Brunch. Food and service was amazing. There were a few kids out of control yelling and acting terrible. Mad me feel bad for their parents but more for the other guests who were trying to enjoy the day. Love it and will definitely be going back!

Beautiful Holiday Buffet! I gave a 4 star, because as yummy that the clam chowder was, it was cold🥲 The raw bar was fantastic and the desserts gorgeous and delicious! Even though the buffet was a bit pricey, I consider it a Christmas gift to my husband and self. I will still definitely keep this place in mind for next Christmas.

Waitresses was not a friendly guy to do extra mile cuz I want to have the plaza Mary I just asked if vodka can be change to beer , he replied no so I asked how about tequila Don Julio reposado ,,,when I tasted was like vodka not a tequila I decide just to drink and ignore him I leave a good tip $30:00 Hope he feels sorry how he treat us we were celebrating our 4th anniversary I want to give an up thumbs to the thanksgiving buffet food it’s excellent , waitress were an excellent very helpful went extra mile assistance in our needs explained I gave $100.00

First, we thought we would be overlooking the water for this Easter brunch but were instead in an internal room with no windows. The price was high but we knew this going in. What we didn’t know is that they would add a 25 percent service charge for a table for two at a buffet!!!

The food was great and staff were doing their best. The kitchen (perhaps) was very backed up - waiting 30 minutes between courses is definitely excessive. Dinner took 2.5 hours.

Bet you are wondering why I gave this so-called elegant restaurant a bad mark?Well, wonder no more--we never went there. We got to the restaurant and they told us that the hotel had closed it for the day. And, that the manager would comp our dinner at their other dumpy, touristy and generally awful restaurant, Schooners. The reason I am writing this is to let OpenTable know we got a tourist trap without warning. They claim they called me but I got no Voice Mail or text--sooo,WTF??? I confirmed this reservation TWICE. This is a very risky place to reserve for people who like fine dining. You may not get what you came for.

Wonderful dinner!! Lovely relaxing place with amazing food and a beautiful view. Loved the choices on the set menu and every course was a favorite - but if I had to pick one not to miss it would be the octopus. Would certainly go back. Exceeded expectations.
