Montebello Ristorante Italiano
Absolutely fantastic restaurant! The chopped salad with vegetables is to die for! And I had the Parmesan encrusted chicken with spinach! Service is outstanding! Greeting at the door like going to a family member’s home!
I feel perfectly at home here. Everyone knows me by name. And I know them by name. The owner and the staff resent a precisely choreographed operation. Clientele are uniformly friendly.
Delicious dinner. My son said his linguine with clams was the best he'd ever tasted. My gnocchi with meat rage was wonderful. Carpaccio appetizer was excellent, however the portion could have been more generous. Overall, a lovely dining experience.
Great service, ambiance, food, and location! A treat!!
Excellent Restaurant which never fails to please. Great Italian midtown establishment.
Exceptional team. I’ve been coming here 2-3x a year for over 20 years. Consistently outstanding. You know what you’re getting
Everything about this gem is perfect--we always feel as though we are family, & we know that every dining experience will be--& is--wonderful. From the very first visit, we have always found this treasure to be fabulous, with delicious meals, warm & attentive service from everyone, & a truly relaxing & beautiful ambiance. Whether it is a special event or a night out, this lovely Italian prize never fails to put a huge grin on our faces--thank you!
Very enjoyable! Everything was great!
Authentic old school ftalian food, service and personnel--which is a good thing to find and enjoy.
Puma is the best!
Montebello Ristorante is my favorite "go to" spot when I am in Manhattan, I always find the food fantastic, the service warm and welcoming and the ambiance is beautiful and the room is elegant and relaxing. I always make it a point to visit since the place is so consistently good each time. You never feel rushed here, the team takes excellent care of diners. I hadn't been there in over a year since I don't live in Manhattan, but walking in we had the most wonderful welcome to start off our meal. As always the meal was delicious, fantastic martinis to start, I loved the Crespelle, the wine selection was great, chocolate mousse cake for dessert was perfect and I felt right at home. This is a great spot to get away from the hustle of the city and relax and enjoy fine food and wonderful service.
comida espectacular!! el restaurante se quedo perdido en los 80´S urge una remodelación
Food and service was above average. Would definitely return when I am in the area.
Painfully slow service and order was
Restaurant Week choice
A group of 6 from my office chose Montebello for our semi-annual Restaurant Week dinner. The numerous options on the menu and prior reviews that the noise level was low were two reasons. We were able to have a leisurely meal and talk without music drowning out the conversion. The seafood salad was adequate, but my chicken Montebello was delicious and the crema dessert was fantastic. Others enjoyed their mussels, calves liver, mushroom pasta, sausages and mousse. Our server had a great sense of humor and was warm and accommodating. I would definitely recommend for a quiet dinner for two or a group dinner like ours was.
Really nice food and service. We enjoyed greatly. I will be back.
Always a very enjoyable dining experience. Been going there since 1991 and have never had a off night. I can not say that about any other restaurant.
While eating early before a show, we appreciated the great service and wonderful food. Very authentic flavors and everything felt very fresh.
The restaurant was quiet because of the time, but felt like it would be very reasonable to have a conversatuon during their peak as well.
The decor could be targeted to an older clientelle, or dated, depending on what you are used to, but was very pleasing and clean.
Service was excellent from the time we checked our coats to the time we picked up our coats to leave. Food was excellent. My party had four people and everyone said that our evening at Montebello's was one of the nicest evenings in a long time.
It was an averages experience here for me. Food are ok, really just ok. Service are okay, not too noisy during lunch hour, so it’s a good thing I guess
Always a pleasure! Signore Joe and all the staff make you feel like you've come home. Love each and every course!
Lunch was very disappointing. No real lunch menu, dinner prices, service extremely poor snd only two tables were occupied. At that, they sat us right next to each other when the whole restaurant was empty. The waiters huddled in the back znd we had to flag them down to get their attention.
Very nice food and atmosphere. Family-owned ,had a great experience ,
We were five people and were able to hear each other talk and have a good conversation. Food was generous and attractively served. My veal scallopini was excellent.
Very good food. There were 6 of us and everyone was happy with what they got. Fresh and familiar Italian food. Prices are too high! Ceasar salad for 2 is $35! (Maybe they use lettuce that's not contaminated!) We still decided to try it and it was delicious! If you are are not deterred by the prices, you will enjoy this restaurant.
We live near Portland, ME, which was been rated the top small city for dining in the U.S. So we know food.
I used to work in New York, and this has been a neighborhood favorite for 30 years. I went there the first time shortly after it opened in 1988 and have been going ever since. The food and service have been outstanding every time. It's a neighborhood spot (albeit a Park Avenue neighborhood). It's northern Italian. Food is freshly prepared, some done at the table. The menu has not changed much over the years. Don't go if you want the latest fashion in cuisine. Do go if you want dependably consistent quality and attention to detail.
Prices are what you would expect for the neighborhood, but it's worth the splurge. We go here every time we go to New York.
Really cannot say enough about the staff and service. What an amazing crew there.
Food tasty and professionally served. Fish deboned at the table side. Wine and after dinner drinks affordable and plenty!
Going over 10+ year and it never disappoints. Excellent food and superb service. Wonderful experience.
I am Italian and the consistency of the food is amazing. The tomato sauce is the best. You can have a quiet conversation without background noise and you own the table for the evening. Strongly recommend the eggplant parmigiana and sausage, pepper and onions.
The menu was very engaging. It contains the number of offerings that are not often seen on other menus. The waiters were friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. The owner presides and is very friendly and conversational.
Food is always good!!
I arrived at 7 p.m. and my friend had already called that she'd be late. I was led to a table. The place was empty except for a party in a back room. No one brought water until I asked. No one brought a menu until I asked. No one came over to my table for an hour that my friend coming from another state was stuck in traffic. When she arrived bread, water, and a menu appeared for her. The glass of my drink was sticky; I think a waiter should know that and clean it up or get me another drink before I asked. And minor but lastly, the waiter raced through the specials in a lowaccented monotone so we did not understand one word and then we had to ask how much the specials were. Just not the wonderful evening we'd envisioined. Lighting beautiful but service not. The manager also never once stopped at my table . . sort of talked to me on his way to the party in the back.
Our meals were of uniformly good quality and attractively presented. Service was helpful but unobtrusive. This is a good venue for a business lunch.
Portions were very small, especially appetizer salad and eggplant parm. Service was a little slow for a non crowded 1230 lunch. Not worth the price. Just ok
This is a very intimate quiet venue, ideal for a business dinner. The food is delicious, the tables well spaced and the service is excellent. Only comment is needs a bigger wine selection.
Overpriced midtown tourist trap with extremely slow service. One course and a bottle of wine took 2 hours....
I liked the diverse Restaurant Week; that was the primary reason I selected this place. Ample portions with a delicious bread basket. The service was attentive and engaging, without being intrusive. The Cream Caramel dessert was to die for. We enjoyed our meal so much that we would gladly return without the RW pricing.
