Another very very special anniversary dinner thanks to the team at Montarra. Our original waitress from our first anniversary dinner 9 years ago remembered us and came by to say hi. Sealed the night no doubt. Thanks again. We will definitely be back for our 10th year.

Asked for a quiet spot and they accommodated nicely. Food was great. Wish they would get rid of candles in foyer and bathrooms. Just want to smell food. The candles are overpowering.

What a great find! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and shown to our table. Our server and all server assistants were friendly and attentive. And the food. Wow! The food. The chicken noodle soup had big chunks of chicken and vegetables. The filet was tender and flavorful. The skirt steak was mouthwateringly delicious. What a great place to enjoy a delicious evening out.

The Hostess, Andrea, and Amy our waitress were both very pleasant, attentive and kind. The costs of the meal, should have included at least, bare minimum, a salad. Atmosphere was quite loud, bar area looked engaging. Loved the glass wall-waterfall......... Mixed drinks were well made, should be for the costs..........

As always, we had a lovely experience at Monterra’s. Highly recommend the lamb lollipops, filet mignon crisps, and bacon wrapped dates. We always do tapas style ordering to try more dishes. There was an extremely loud group and the server was nice enough to offer to move us, which we didn’t need to do, but it was very thoughtful of her. Overall, a very enjoyable experience!! Definitely will be back!

Staff very attentive and prompt with service. The bartender while waiting to table made fantastic drinks which the Manhattan he made was one of the best. Waitress was excellent and the food was amazing. Especially the steak tartare .

Pretty setting - very unexpected for a strip mall.
Get the tartare is it's on special - it was outstanding! We enjoyed all the food, however the noise level is intolerable. When you can't hear your server or the person sitting across the table from you, something needs to change.

Restaurant was good. This was our first time dining and our server was good but she could have been great. After we told her this was our first time dining at Mo, she did not tell us about any specialties of the restaurant and did not provide any recommendations. We though that she asked us, had we dined their before because she was going to provide more info about the restaurant - she did not and we did not ask. Also, my salad needed a little more vinegerette. However, because she failed to check on us in a timely manner, I had eaten the "dry" salad instead of waiting on her return. As I said, the server was good but could have been great. The food was delish and I can't wait to go back!

Montarra never lets us down! We had an amazing dinner - amazing food and the service provided by Pam was top notch! If you haven't dined here, make it happen. You won't be disappointed!

Montarra has been one of my favorite restaurants for years. Each time I go I have a phenomenal experience. It's a sparkling gem that you would expect to find in the city, but alas, have to drive no further than Algonquin. If you've never been, you MUST go!

Our 45th wedding anniversary. Pam, our waitress was absolutely fabulous. We have know her for quite a while and she is always good. She makes the great food even better. I would recommend Montarra to anyone.

Birthday dinner. Outstanding beverages, appetizers and entrees. Server seemed distracted—not a particularly engaging personality. I expect better.

Montarra is a wonderful place for a special dinner. This was our second visit. (The first time was with a group of 6. Both times, the service and food were superb. The standard menu offers a variety seafood and steaks prepared for different tastes. The chef specials, we tried were wonderful.

Great place to catch up with old friends. We were not rushed. Kitchen very accommodating for food allergies. Wines a bit overpriced.

Very crowded, dark and loud. Difficult to have a conversation. Not much room between tables and the servers have a difficult time getting around. Food was average and not worth the extravagant price. Was a pretty plate presentation though. I will say the service was outstanding. We will not go back

We have been several times in the past Each time my partner orders the same meal and each time the whipped potatoes are warm, not hot. The last time he specifically mentioned to the wait staff he wanted his potatoes hot, and again they came out warm. That is the major complaint we have about this restaurant.

Love the atmosphere of Montarra! Specials are just that, unique and delicious! The wine isn’t overpriced. The wat staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Did a great combination of small plates and risotto with a bottle of wine and it was a great date night!

Went to Montarra for my wife's birthday. Menu had "Happy Birthday" on it and dessert had Happy Birthday spelled out in chocolate along with a candle. Outstanding food, excellent service and just a wonderful experience!

Great variety of creative food options. Tuna tartare, tacos are very good, steaks tasty cooked perfectly, grouper was fanatic. Jennifer and balance of staff were exceptional.

A bit pricey but the food is outstanding. Top grade meats and the service is impeccable!

Food and Service were really good. Pricing is a bit high, but not horrible. Biggest complaint is that the restaurant is kind of noisy making it difficult to converse with our guests. Not many restaurants this nice in Mchenry Co. Overall, an enjoyable evening.

Montarra Grill remains one of our favorite date-night restaurants. The food is creative, inspired and delicious. The service is appropriate, non-intrusive and professional. We will be back!

Montarra was recommended to us by and I'm so glad I took it. We went to Montarra to celebrate my birthday. They gave us menus that said Happy Birthday and insured that we were seated in a quiet booth to enjoy our evening.
Our server was fantastic! She knew the menu(s) both drink and food so well. She asked the right questions to provide the right recommendations. She knew how to have fun with us with out going over the top. Her service levels were excellent; there when we needed her and not hovering.
The food was absolutely amazing and there wasn't a single item we didn't enjoy from our appetizer to the dessert. Our server helped me decide my meal because I had so much trouble choosing and it was amazing.
Our meal included: the steak tartar small plate, truffle and brie steak and ahi tuna and the dark chocolate flourless cake. We also had wine and martinis that were spot on!
We can't wait to have another occasion to come back to this restaurant! It was one the best nights out we've had.
