Montarra Ratings and Reviews
Steaks were excellent. We all got filets and i got the Montarra stuffed bourgine filet. All excellent. Forgot our asparagus but that stuff happens. They brought it out later but didnt charge us for it. Desserts were great too. Went well with a glass of Rombauer Zin.
Always one of our favorite restaurants for date night and special occasion dinners! The goat cheese croquettes and the bacon wrapped dates were to die for. Our filets were cooked perfectly and the grilled cauliflower was amazing! If you’re celebrating a special occasion, you can make a note when you’re booking your reservation and they will include a special menu for you to take home to commemorate - a simple note at the top but it’s a nice touch!!
It was my husband's birthday and Montarra had printed a special menu withing him a happy Birthday with his name on it, very personalized, and unique. That was the first on many lovely things to come, we had many small plates and enjoyed every one immensely..all food done to perfection, great service, lively atmosphere , and a beautiful dessert with more birthday wishes--such a perfect celebration-thank you so much for making it special!
I only have one issue from our dinner last Saturday......it is so loud in the restaurant. The restaurant was so crowded and we were seated very close to the table next to us (I have a feeling this couple was listening into our conversation, which was very awkward).
Food was good but we had poor service. The waitress actually reached across me to grasp a wine bottle. She was slow to take our drink and dinner order. They brought out three dinners and the final dinner plate didn't arrive for nearly five minutes later. Not what I would expect from a restaurant like this. It was a busy Saturday night to be fair. Tables are close together which amplifies the noise.
Yummy versatile and unique small plates lets you try different foods instead of a full entree type meal. We ordered 4 small plates for 3 people (stuffed mushrooms, lamb lollipops, scallops and petite fillets) and we were all stuffed. It was perfection and felt like gourmet dining.
The occasion was a Birthday for my fiancé. As soon as we came in the door and were greeted by the Hostess my fiancé mentioned that it was her birthday. The hostess sardonically said "Yeah, we know". The steak was excellent but way overpriced given the fact that salad is not included and the 3 ounces of mashed potato and 2 ounces of vegetables are hidden underneath the steak. Again everything tasted great but the $/oz. of food ratio makes the restaurant way overpriced for the amount of food that you get.
The food was so delicious!!! My husband and I both had steaks and everything on the plate was so flavorful!! The service was really good too. Our waitress was super nice and came by at all the right times to check on us.
It was a little on the noisy side but the ambiance made up for it. I would highly recommend trying this place out!!
We arrived an hour early and despite there being open tables, we were seated at our reservation time. Our appetizer was "stolen" by another server so we waited about 30 minutes for the appetizer. The server was apologetic and did credit us, but she was clearly flustered that the appetizer continued to not arrive. Overall the food was good, but not amazing. I would give them one more try.
Not there best night. My pork chop was undercooked, sent it back, and although the new one was cooked to my liking, it was about 40-50% fat. Our side of Brussels sprouts was less than exciting. Soups were excellent as usual. This is certainly not the norm here, but it was not the anniversary dinner we had hoped for.
This place was good not great but good, the biggest issue we had was when we asked to be seated in a booth the hostess made it seem like it was a real inconvenience for her and with that in turn she stated that we would be waiting 45 min even though we were about 15 min early for our reservation. We told her it wasn’t an issue and that we would wait, our wait ended-up being 5 min.
We use Montarra on special occasions. It is "pricey", but worth every penny, The service is excellent and the food is delicious. The menu offers a great variety to choose from in the way of seafood, steaks, fish, soups and salads. We love to go here when we can. The ambiance is wonderful - low lighting and comfortable seating.
Great restaurant, but noise level took away the enjoyment of our nicely passed dinner because we couldn't hear each other speaking without shouting. We've dined here a few times, but this was the first time we remember not being able to have much of a conversation due to all the chatter! Such great food, it's too bad they have this issue!
Food was very good. Our server was delightful and quite capable. The service however was choppy. Either she had to many tables or the kitchen/bar was overwhelmed. We read that they did such a great job with special occasions but all we had was Happy 40 th anniversary on our menu. Maybe my expectation was unreasonable after reading reviews etc . I thought something with a candle would have been nice 😍
Overall it was a nice experience and we would go back!!
