Monsoon: Steak & Sushi Ratings and Reviews
It is always a pleasure to eat at Monsoon’s. Food is specially prepared individually and to your liking. Choices are delicious and sometimes hard to pick just one. We had the wine pairing with our meal which was a nice addition. Service is always impeccable and leaves us with a good feeling.
Food was ok. The seafood fried rice wasn’t very good at all. The Steak was ordered Med but came closer to rare. The sushi was ok and the Korean chicken was well cooked but I expected a sweet spicy finish similar to other Korean chicken places I’ve sampled. The service was very good and the Manger did stop by and presented my wife with a $25 gift card as it was her bday. That was a nice touch. But overall just ok...not something to run home and tell everyone about...
Our overall experience was good, however we had a problem with the service. We had ordered sides with our entrees but they arrived 8 minutes later, if we had waited to eat the main course it would have gotten cold. For dessert we ordered cappuccinos and a creme brûlée. The latter showed up 10 minutes after the coffees arrived. Timing needs to get better.
Good food with an energetic atmosphere! The only issue is don't go for a nice dinner after 8:30pm as they started taking tables away (turning the 1st floor into a dance floor) while we were still eating. For the price you pay for food here, it is unfair to feel very rushed and uncomfortable.
I have been wanting to try Monsoon since it first opened. I'm sorry to have to report it was a disappointment. It was a snowy Friday night and the place was practically deserted. The menu was full of very creative sounding dishes. We decided on the prix fix menu.. The wedge salad was not bad; The pork bellies were a new taste for me.. I chose the flat iron steak over a creamy rice, medium rare. Well, it was extremely rare and rather chewy. I am a huge steak lover, so I was disappointed. My husband said the LI duck did not even taste like duck.. and the cake for dessert was just 'okay' as well. It was my birthday, which my husband mentioned to the waitress, but she did not offer anything special (like singing, a candle.. or a gong).. I guess that's our fault for not asking for that. The best part was the Cosmos.. although they were overpriced! It seemed to me that everything was extra pricey for the quantity and quality of what we were served. Sorry Monsoon..... we will probably not be back anytime soon.
Beautiful restaurant, classic bar. Seating was comfortable without feeling cramped or having the the next table sitting on top of you.
The food was superb. The duck was excellent, the sushi as well. The appetizer was both plentiful and tasty.
All in all (that was four of us) put this establishment on the GO BACK list!
Very pricey!! You don’t get much food for the price. The place is just for the ambiance. Service wasn’t the greatest. Waitress took our drink and food order and didn’t come back to see if we needed anything else. Came back towards the end to see if we wanted dessert. We would have probably brought a few more drinks but since she didn’t come to check on us we didn’t.
Not a first time diner, and will most likely come again. However, the acoustics are horrible so unfortunately the more people drink the louder they become. Difficult not to be distracted & focus on your own conversation. I would definitely find a way to implement a 'suggestion' to large groups from the servers as they are seated...letting them know the noise level can get crazy due to the low ceilings(back area obviously)& to please be considerate of guests around them. There is always a graceful way to say anything where no one wld take offense!!
Ok so we go restaurant week-the last night $29.00 (roughly) for 3 course meal-EXCEPT in tiny print $8.00 uncharge on crab cake happy and $8.00 uncharge on skirt steak.
why bother including these on "special" for rest. week w, when that's not special at all.
steak came out barely warm for two of us.
really let down by this visit!
The best meal we have had in a very long time! The food, service, and atmosphere were amazing!! We have some gluten allergic people in our family, so we really appreciate that there is a separate gluten- free menu. We look forward to coming back soon and often!!!
What a Great place to celebrate a Birthday, had a fantastic time celebrating my wife’s birthday! The food and drinks were unbelievable and the dessert was delightful, finishing the night off by hitting the Big Brass Gong was my wife’s favorite part. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening!
I brought my father to Monsoon for his 65th birthday dinner and he absolutely loved it. We wanted to try something different, and this was just the place for that! All 4 of us were very satisfied with our meals and the service provided by our server, Gabby. Highly recommend! Thank you Monsoon
