Terrible background music accompanied a not-so-fried rice dish with square pieces of carrot and 50 cents worth of crab. A real disappointment from what used to be.

Delicious Asian fusion! We loved everything we ate. Everything is shareable- small plate style! We would go back.

The noise level just got to be more and more throughout our dinner.
It would have been fine if I was under 35 years. At over 60 years old , I could not hear my dinner partners by the time we were served our main course.

My husband and I decided to try Monsoon during Seattle Restaurant Week and were extremely disappointed. The table next to us ordered the same two appetizers we chose (bo la lot and papaya salad). While we enjoyed them, we noticed that the size of appetizer that our neighbors received were much larger. This was disappointing because the three course meal isn't actually a deal if the dishes that you receive are smaller. For main dishes, we ordered the catfish claypot and the drunken chicken. The catfish is supposed to be their signature, number one dish and it was so incredibly sweet, I could barely eat it. The drunken chicken was essentially sesame chicken from our neighborhood Chinese take-out joint. And, rice was not included with either dish. Dessert was a small slice of banana bread, nothing special. Overall, it was entirely a terrible dining experience and I'm surprised the place is still in business, I thought Capitol Hill was a pretty discerning neighborhood.

This is my fourth time at this restaurant, and I must say that it keeps getting better. We had a wonderful dinner, shared an appetizer and a vegetable. But the best thing of all was the banana cake for dessert. It sent us into a different dimension! ,

This place is great and always has been. I brought visiting friends from Chicago. They did forget 2 of our dishes and the server's check backs were far between. One of the dishes came out once there was notification to the Server. The other one I am not sure it never arrived, but the server did take it off the bill once we notified him it was missing. He said the kitchen was hit or miss getting dishes out.
I would still go here any day of the week, the food is amazing.

Long-time dinner patrons, this was our first time going for brunch. Among our party were people with different needs and all were happy, and satisfied, with the food and the amounts. Great eating, happy diners.

Went for my birthday dinner with my wife and 2 kids who are both over 21. We were able to sit in the bar which I liked a little better than the main dining area, although both seating areas are fine. The Saison beer I had was excellent, and my daughter enjoyed her IPA. We ordered 3 appetizers (ribs, peach salad, and veggie wrap - all very good). Main courses were the cod, crispy chicken, and the flank steak. All the food tasted great, arrived at our table served by a multitude of friendly wait staff, and although the meals were excellent, we felt everything was just a tad over priced. Overall, however, a very nice evening in a restaurant with a very nice ambiance - we'll be back.

A friend from Chimacum visited overnight and we walked over to Monsoon for brunch the following morning. The early crowd was light and we enjoyed three flavors of mimosas to start. We shared some very meaty shrimp dumplings with a hearty pepper sauce, then three entrees, including crab benedict, veggie hash and an omelet. Lots of food, but the omelet was fluffy and the benedict was served over light but tasty squares of thick toast. Monsoon never disappoints, and our guest, the hash eater, was delighted.

We were visiting Seattle, staying in Capitol Hill. We decided to stay local for dinners, and based on some recommendations, we visited Monsoon our second night, and very glad for having done so. The menu is inventive, fun, and delicious. There are dozens of Vietnamese restaurants in the Denver area (not including phô), but nothing like Seattle's Monsoon! New tastes, new experiences. Monsoon's website warns you that the menu may change by the time you visit, so our selections might not help your visit, but they are indicative of the inventiveness. (1) a shrimp and green papaya salad with other slices of other fruits and veggies, (2) a peach and tomato (no, not kidding) salad with some Asian spices that were out of this world, (3) steak wrapped in là lốt leaves with rice noodles, pickled carrots, and dipping sauce, (4) sea bass with green papaya and rice. Yum. Everything was exceptional.

The only problem is parking. Give yourself time.

As usual food was delicious and interesting. Thank goodness, because service was not good. I can't tell whether the kitchen was off or our waiter was having a bad night. We waited more than 15 minutes before seeing our server at all. Then, drinks came out slowly and only two at a time (for a table of 4). When our small plates came out, one was wrong. It was corrected, but way too slowly and without an authentic apology. The five dishes we ordered were amazing (surprisingly, the Tofu was everyone's favorite, bright and full of flavor and great texture), but one of the dishes lagged the other four by almost 20 minutes. Not good and, again, no concern by the waiter. We will try Monsoon again, because the food is great, but we will make sure to have low expectations for the service.

We've been going to Monsoon for many years, and have always enjoyed eating there. My favorite area is the bar, although the main dining room is fine. The bar feels more open and hip; the restaurant room is more staid. The food is always fabulous.

As an Asian restaurant owner+operator myself, I find our meal at Monsoon very very good. We especially enjoyed the papaya saladand the banana cake. The atmosphere is great, you can tell that they've spent a lot of time and effort to creat the ambiance and select good utensils (the chopsticks are great). Overall for the price I think it's a good deal. I will go back for more. Thank you Monsoon.

Went for brunch. Food was excellent and the drinks were tasty too. Parking was easy to find with a lot adjacent and ample street parking available. Had the omelet which was very rich and filling. GF had the pho which had a very rich flavorful broth.

Everything was awesome, service was a little off but I noticed that half the restaurant only had a single server. The hostess was doing certain jobs helping the server so was we checked in it took 10 minutes to get her attention before getting seated. It also took us 30-45 minutes to get our food which was a little bit of a bummer but it was so good that we scarfed it in seconds. So not the best service, but that might be an issue with management and food-wise...awesome.

came here for brunch. the dim sum is worth a try, impressive daikon &taro cake. medium pan-fried. My friend got a velecheli grilled shrimp bowl which was nice too.

The waffle was overly cooked and looked like being fried?? not the soft fluffy waffle i expected. maybe it was their special style.

The place was overall nice, clean, hippy :D

The food itself is somewhat authentic. Service is fast, but the waiters/waitresses have no knowledge. They don't know what their food tastes like, or what goes in it. I had to send back a dish because the waiter didn't know it had fish sauce in it (I asked him 3 times before ordering).

Went here because we love Stateside and we'd seen a review comparing the two. We still love the other, but if you want Vietnamese cuisine that seems authentic, this is another great choice. Even on a Friday night with "full" reservations, it wasn't too noisy. Loved the ambiance and the music was soft and ambient which was wonderful. Great experience overall!

We were a party of four, and having read the reviews, had high expectations. We were not disappointed. The food was varied, tasty, and beautifully prepared. The dishes were not only delicious but they had a variety of flavors, textures and colors.

There was one hitch in the service. When we arrived, our table was ready for us but were not seated, despite several requests, because they did not have enough menus!!! More specifically, they had menus but not fancy bamboo boards behind the menus. Strange choice, to keep us standing 10 minutes or longer!

We felt welcomed by the hostess and our server(s) were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious but some dishes had too much salt. The pork ribs did not live up to my expectations and had too much salt. We shared a variety of appetizers and the drucken chicken. All were flavorful and interesting. Restaurant had a cool vibe. We will return.

One of Seattle's best restaurants and there are many. Vietnamese but with several different options. Worth the drive to Capitol Hill. The bar has an open air part plus there is a roof deck which are lovely on a summer evening. Reservations are important.

the enlarged dining area is well done. We shared plates and ordered some favorites of green papaya salad w/prawns, imperial rolls and the wokked beef tenderloin. All small plates were executed well as far as taste and visually stunningly plated. Warm night, the window were open to the outside, had a very urban feel.

We came in with a reservation for a party of 8 on a Friday night around 7. We had reservations, and the place was pleasantly busy but not packed with lines out the door. The ambience of the restaurant is nice, and the food was good when we finally got it, but the service was, well, terrible. We waited for more than an hour for our food, and when we did get it, the meal we got was the wrong one. The waiter "hit the wrong button on the machine", and it would take another 20 minutes to get what we actually ordered. We couldn't get drink service without flagging down the waiter and I had to get up and ask him for our check after we all had our bags out ready to go for another 20 minutes. Not a good service experience and the server was lucky we were a party of 9 and the gratuity was added to the check.
