Monopole was opened in December 2012 by Chef Brent Savage and Sommelier Nick Hildebrandt who also own the award-winning Bentley Restaurant + Bar located at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Sydney’s CBD as well as local eatery, Yellow. Following the success of the Bentley, the duo wanted to expand to open a wine bar and eatery where they could experiment with a more casual concept, perfectly suited to its bohemian location. With Monopole, they’ve also welcomed Glen Goodwin to the ownership team. Come in to experience unique flavours and excellent wine list featuring over 500 rare and boutique wines, including over 30 by the glass or carafe. The decor has been pleasantly changed by Melbourne’s architect Pascal Gomes-McNabb focusing on the interior design providing rich dark woods and industrial metals throughout the restaurant.

I love Monopole and all the Bentley Group restaurants. We went on a Saturday night for the second sitting. I only eat veg/fish and our server very kindly tailored the set / tasting menu so that I had substitutes for the meaty dishes. But overall the experience was a bit disappointing compared with other trips there – we had to get there attention a few times to order more wine, the main fish dish was overcooked and came out cold. Aside from that it's a beautiful restaurant with a delicious, considered menu and an incredible wine list.

A very atmospheric place for dinner. The service was exceptional. The wine list was extensive and liked the fact that half glasses are an option. Liked the shared plates menu and very delicious.

Would not recommend it. Food is really good but you get out of there hungrier than when you get in. Portions of food are ridiculously small for the price they are sold for, even comparing to it's direct competitors. Fine dining yes, but makes no sense at all.

The value for money was great. We ended up with a 7 courses and 7 paired wines for $260. I'd say the wine was the best thing about the dinner. The closest comparison would be Ester, but the food wasn't close to the quality there. Albeit delicious anyway. Would recommend.

First time trying Monopole, though we’re big fans of the other restaurants in the Bentley Group. Great food, LOVED the option of truffle add on, impressive wine list which we had lots of fun exploring. Very patchy service, difficult to get attention....seems to have just been an issue in back half of the restaurant, but not sure. We had empty glasses too often Appeared to have a plumbing issue in communal bathroom, smell was really foul, no paper towels in dispenser so couldn’t dry hands

Great food - degustation and able to adapt it tour our table’s needs. Wonderful atmosphere and good service. Loved it!
