Excellent food. There is always something new to try. The blue cheese, chicken tostada appetizer was excellent as was the hanger steak special. The service is impeccable and we love the unique dishes the chef creates. Just save room for dessert and make a reservation as it is always busy.

Waited close to an hour for our dinner. Steak was so tough you could not cut it with the steak knife. When asked how we wanted steak cooked we said medium...just pink. Steak was red, nearly raw. We politely told our waitress that the steak was so tough it was unable to be cut and when we did finally cut through it was so red we couldn't even chew it...she did nothing....when the bill came she took off $6.00. On a $28.00 steak that was tough and raw and waited nearly an hour to get. Very disappointed in what used to be a great meal. Too far to go again for the experience we had.

We had a 7:30 reservation and we arrived right on time. Our table was not ready and we had to wait about 15 minutes. The hostess apologized several times and said we could wait at the bar or stand to the side. While waiting, we had three different people ask if we’ve been helped. Each one said they would go check and each one never came back. The Hostess was more concerned about making someone was given proper directions to their location. Once seated, we were placed in a room that looked like it was a cheap addition. It had mirrors on the wall and the noise level was rather irritating. Our server, Fernando, was great. He was professional, polite and very attentive. However, the kitchen and bar were slow with service. Our drink order took a good 15 minutes. Fernando told us about the specials for the evening. My wife ordered the filet Mignon and I ordered the special. Fernando suggested switching the couscous for the corn risotto. Before ordering our main course, my wife and I each ordered the wild mushroom soup. It took another 20-25 minutes to get the soup to our table. Fernando said the kitchen made a fresh pot. The soup was delicious and hot. When our main courses arrrved, the couscous was not switched with the risotto and my wife’s steak looked more rare than medium rare. It was not bloody and it tasted very good. The kitchen was very slow that evening with their service. The table behind us had to take their food to go. They had other engagements they needed to be and the food was taking to long to come out. My wife and I shared a dessert and we each had coffee. The coffee was luke warm. I’ve been to Monocacy many times and this was my least favorite time. Be sure to wear your winter coat in the bathroom. It’s an icebox and you could feel a chill in the area where we sat.

It must have been an off night. We decided to visit this restaurant at the recommendation of friends who raved about their last dining experience there. First, the seating area in which we were seated was freezing. I asked to be moved, but they took so long to get back to me about the request that we were into the bread and cocktails and opted to stay. On to the food and service... All I can say is that something horrible must have happened as the service was painfully slow: 1/2 hour for our server to stop by the table, another 1/2 hour to get bread served and take the cocktail order. Another 15 mins to get the beverages and that is only because our server solicited help from another server. The appetizer was good -- cream of mushroom soup. The flavor was delicious. Then, another long wait for the entree. Mine and my partner's entrees were served cold. As I didn't want to embarrass the couple we were with, I didn't mention this. I had a half portion of the braised veal cheeks with mixed mushrooms and crispy gnocchi. What I received was a single ball of beef (about the size of a large apricot) which was mostly fat, 5 deep-fried gnocchi (deep fried? why?), topped with shredded vinegary beets. No mushrooms. Our waitress appeared at our table seeming very scattered and apologized prophetically, hinting that the reservation process failed and the kitchen was having a horrid evening. At the end of the night, the restaurant voluntarily picked up our beverage tab. I'm trying to find a way to give this restaurant more than 1 star, but, other than picking up our single round of cocktails, I can't find any positives.

Love MC. We go often for a quick app & glass of wine for a date. Erin was an excellent waitress-friendly & knowledgeable. The room was a little chilly (it's unSEASONABLY cold here in Maryland) but we were even offered a blanket for our seats! Will go back of course & will recommend.

The chicken and scalloped potatoes were to die for! The noise level will never let that happen. The service was mediocre. She had too nanyntables. We had to get her attention for sending back under cooked food and drink refills. Had to ask twice for sweetener. Her excuse for blood coming from the beef and very pink pork was that it goes by temperature not looks. Sorry but ‘over well done’ does not bleed! The pork was not bleeding but was still pink. Not appetizing to diners who specify ‘well done’. The vegetables were very good. Next time I will get chicken and hope the temperature guage does allow pink or red juice from it.
The restaurant in winter is too crowded. I know they want business but better to create space than force handicapped people to ask other diners to get up, move their chairs, interuoting their dinner so we could exit the restaurant.
The hostess was friendly and efficient. Maybe ‘special occassions’ do not fit well here.

We drove from Baltimore and weren’t disappointed. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was all exactly as it was described and very good. Two of our guests had the daily specials. The veal cheeks were excellent, as was the fresh cod dish. We’ll definitely be back again.

Rosa took care of us and she was excellent. We enjoyed the Beer Cheese Burger, cooked perfectly as ordered; and the Lamb Shank, substituting a side dish for an alternate without a problem. The Calamari appetizer here is more than enough to share and comes with two delicious non standard sauces.

Monocacy Crossing is normally our favorite 'go to' restaurant in Frederick, but I can't honestly recommend it for Sunday brunch. The principle problem is that what they're offering isn't brunch. It's lunch plus a couple of egg dishes. They seem to be executing it as an obligation without any particular care or imagination. The quiche is excellent as always, but the poached eggs with bacon cream sauce is a caloric jihad. There aren't any breakfast meats or sweet rolls, and you have to ask about brunch-worthy cocktails. If they want to serve lunch on Sunday, fine. Go ahead. Just don't call it "brunch", which is something altogether different.

The food was unremarkable- not poor, not good. The server was not up to the job; she greeted us and then disappeared for a long while before taking our order. She then did not reappear until long after we finished our meal and after we asked another server to locate her for us. The place is unattractive and loud. There are many better restaurants in Frederick. We will not return to Monocacy Crossing.

Wonderful meal. I had the Berkshire pork cheeks. They we're so tender and flavorful. My husband had the beef medallions cook perfectly. The grilled romaine salad is the best anywhere, I highly recommend it. If you can save room for dessert you will not be disappointed. Reasonably priced and unique offering to keep us coming back.

It has been at least a year since my husband and I have been to this restaurant. We live quite a
ways away, but we knew we would be in the area so we made a reservation to eat here. Our request to have a table by the window was met and we were seated upon arriving. All in all the evening was enjoyable and the service was good. My husband's dinner of beef wrapped in bacon, ordered medium, came out totally rare. It had to be sent back. It came back the second
time still pretty rare but he ate it and did not want to send it back again. We eat out a lot and I cannot ever recall him having to send his dinner back because of being undercooked. The waitress apologized and poured my husband some more wine. We know these things happen but it is frustrating at a restaurant such as this. It would have been nice if the manager on duty had come my our table to offer his apologies, but that did not happen. We will give this restaurant one more chance and, hopefully, with no more problems.
