I found Monocacy Crossing while looking for a restaurant for an anniversary dinner for my wife and myself. When I called to change my reservation time the hostess was pleasant and said there would be no problem. She asked if there was a special occasion for our visit and I explained the reason. When we arrived we were quickly seated and the back server brought 2 glasses and complimentary Prosecco and wished us a Happy Anniversary. Our server arrived and also wished us a Happy Anniversary. The attention by the staff was excellent without being overbearing. We we given the daily specials and a chance to look at the menu. The choices were inviting and well described in the menu. We ordered our dinner along with a bottle of wine suggested by the server. The dinner was delicious. I had been in the food service industry for almost 20 years and this was one of the best meals that I have had in a long time. My steak was cooked perfectly and my wife's scallops were fork tender and tasty. We saved room for dessert which included homemade items by the chef's mother along with an ice cream sandwich made with homemade peanut butter ice cream. All in all this was one of the finest dinners I have had in 15 - 20 years and would highly recommend Monocacy Crossing. We were also told about a lobster special that they offer in the summer and are looking forward to heading back for another visit. It will be worth the drive.
Always a pleasure coming here. The traditional menu is outstanding and they always have a couple of specials going to keep it interesting.
Very relaxing atmosphere, it was loud just no noise buffers. The food was amazingly great as always and wonderful service. We love coming here for family celebrations. More vegetarian options would be great.
This is a place with a nice atmosphere. Limited menu, which is not a bad thing. I'd rather have a chef who is a master at some but not a chain restaurant book like menu!
The server was pleasant enough, but did not seem inclined to offer any suggestions to my very picky companion. We asked for a different sauce for a shrimp dish (it was on the menu with another item) and she was quite negative, saying, "I don't think we do that". But apparently they DID do that, because the meal came out exactly as specified.
I ordered the beef medallions and they were perfectly cooked and delicious. All the food was excellent. Server was attentive.
The thing that kinda ruined the meal was a very loud party of ten or so - 2 seats away from us. I know the restaurant doesn't have much control of that, but maybe some noise deadening materials could be added (acoustic panels, fabrics?) because the noise just echoed. We couldn't even hold a conversation and could not hear the server!
We will be back, though, because most everything was excellent.
Great food and nice environment. Always have a large variety on the menu with a good price range. Great desserts, too. They know how to cook seafood and beef just right!
Excellent menu. Great selection.Delicious food. Bread was amazing.
Our server was awesome!!!! I cant' remember her name
Delicious but expensive. Great service as both the bartender and our waitress were excellent.
We were pleased with the experience. We went to brunch on our 29th anniversary and everything was great.
Food was amazing and very fairly priced, would recommend!!! I'll be back!!
Monocacy Crossing ranks right up there with the best quality restaurants around. Food is impeccable and service phenomenal. As locals, we are lucky to have this gem so close. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.
The food is still outstanding as ever, and the remodel of the restaurant is far superior to the previous decor. The expansion of the bar is great, the only downside to the bar expansion is that the acoustics are deafening. My husband and I ate dinner at the bar on Friday evening, and although we were sitting within inches of each other we could not hear each other speak due to how loud it was. While there were some extremely loud groups of people at the bar, the sound just bounces off of the walls and it was unpleasantly loud. We will stick to sitting at the patio in the future, which in our opinion is the best outdoor seating in Frederick, hands down. It is still my favorite Frederick restaurant!
The food and service were ok. The desert was definitely disappointing
Both my wife and I had the steak, which was cooked as requested and excellent. The truffle fries and snow peas were also delicious. The rear room we were seated in was a bit cold, but otherwise, it was a dream meal.
Have never been disappointed at Monocacy.
Love the new renovations. The staff are delightful. Never had to ask for water glass refills. Every need was anticipated and carried out unobtrusively. Recommend highly.
Awesome place to eat. Love the remodel. The bar area is so much nicer and larger now. A little loud though. The back room was a little chilly but the food and service was a class act as usual! Highly recommend.
The food is as wonderful as always and the newly renovated bar looks great!
We went for my sons’ 26th birthday. He picked Monocacy Crossing because he had enjoyed our previous visit for Easter Brunch. The table bread was delicious. For dinner we had the
Sauteed Shrimp and Scallops over Tagliatelle Pasta with a Roasted Garlic and Herb Cream , Veal and Pork Bolognese over Fresh Pappardelle, Vesl medallions and the Beef medallions. The food was delicious. Only negative was we had sodas with dinner and the glasses were small and they were slow to refill. Will go back again.
Would definitely return when we get a chance
such a lovely surprise of a restaurant.
starters were great, main was delicious and generous and the deserts - especially the coconut one....
We love the food!
As usual, the food was quite good and the service impeccable. The redesigned front/bar area is beautiful, and there is significantly more room to sit and have a drink and/or bite to eat. It now has an open, bright and airy feel. Unfortunately, with the larger bar, there is less dining room seating and a significant amount of noise flows from the bar into the dining area. At peak hours, the noise is considerable and conversation is difficult, so gone is the relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Also it is a shame that with a redesign of this magnitude the oldest rest room was neglected, and no improvements were made.
Outstanding service and food. Recently renovated too. We will go back)))))
Outstanding food, service was great. atmosphere was very conversational, which I love in a restaurant environment, but some folks may not like to hear everyone talking. Highly recommend the place, first time there, will definitely go back multiple times!
This is our third or fourth time and the experience is always wonderful. Great food, good wine selection and good service. The waitress told us upfront that they will be closed for a few weeks for remodeling so some of the wines weren't available. It wasn't a problem as they had one we wanted, and I always appreciate knowing the information up front.
Casual dress, good food and service in a homey environment.
My biggest issue was the noise - it was loud in the main dining hall. Steak was good but the french fries were quite soggy. Like the ambiance of the old house. The service was great and the food was delivered quickly! I have been to Monocacy Crossing many times and would recommend to anyone...
We were a party of 6 with 2 vegans. After calling ahead the chef prepared a delicious meal for the vegans and everyone else enjoyed the regular menu and their meals. It was so nice of the restaurant to accommodate a different diet and the table was perfect for those with trouble hearing [another request]. They go out of their way to make one feel welcomed and cared for. Thanks Monocacy Crossing!
Great server and good creative food. Loved the deviled eggs!
Dinner was incredible! Even though the website says attire is business casual, quite a few people were wearing jeans. But everything was delicious!
We had not been to Monocacy Crossing in quite a while but we were very happy to see it is still a quality restaurant. The atmosphere was very warm and comfortable, the service was great (the wait staff was very attentive but did not hover), and the food was excellent! Definitely a place we will come back to in t he future.
This was our first experience at Monocacy Crossing. The food was amazing! Delicious homemade bread, my entree was completely perfect - ricotta gnocchi with sweet potatoes and crispy kale with mustard crusted salmon which the server suggested I add. There were so many great options on the menu so we will be back.
The ambiance was nice but not great. The tables were close together so we could hear our neighbor’s discussions unfortunately. The servers were great though. Attentive but not over bearing.
A longtime staple of Frederick and always consistent. Service and food met expectations as the staff was very courteous and special dietary requests were accommodated. The establishment has a very small lounge area and the restaurant as a whole is in dire need of updating from which I understand is supposed to happen this Spring. the rockfish special they had was very tasty and cooked to perfection. I also recommend the veal and pork bolognese.
Great fine dining restaurant. The place for special occasions when you're willing to spend a lot more than you normally would. Most entrees exceed $25.
Great service and the food was perfext
Best restaurant in Maryland, I travel and have visited many many restaurants throughout the state, if you want the best go here!
Very fast service, amazing food. The NY strip is to die for
Valentine’s Day dinner was very nice here, food was delicious and atmosphere relaxing.
Food was excellent. Steaks very tender. Portions are large so be prepared to take some home. Ambiance is pretty plain, but quality of food more than makes up for it.
This is the go to spot for my wife and I, it's about five miles from our home and we go every chance we get. The food is always good and they make small changes to the menu from time to time. The price is a lot better than some of the larger places.
