The service was great although the business was fairly brisk. We had one request which was not available to be accepted. I ordered the eggs , biscuit, and potatoes with the bacon sauce on the side. I asked Cheryl if a different sauce was available such as a hollandaise but she stated it was not available. It seems to me that an additional sauce should have been considered since there may have been other people such as myself who does not eat bacon. The meal I had without any sauce was dry but otherwise all right.
Excellent as always, a great little neighborhood gem.
Perfect place for our reunion of old friends! Very pleasant surroundings coupled with friendly, attentive, and unobtrusive service. We lingered an unreasonably long time after lunch but felt no pressure to "move along" and no difficulty at all about separate checks.
I found the sauce on my scallop entree a bit over salted, but that's a matter of taste. My more enduring memory of the dish will be that the scallops themselves were plump, delicious, and cooked to perfection.
In the past I've thoroughly enjoyed the quiche of the day, which is served with an exceptionally good salad.
I wish Monocracy Crossing were open for lunch on Mondays, but everyone--even chefs--is entitled to a day off!
Everything was well done and they were very careful to accommodate any special requests. Everyone was very smart about the food and the wines - with a very nice wine list. Recently remodeled to enlarge the bar, the dining room is a quieter space that works well for the great dining experience we had. Also - they have a nice selection of wine by the glass.
Do not pass up the Artichoke Beignets. They were exceptional - and enough for three or four to share as a starter.
Love this restaurant ! Food is always delicious.
Service was amazing and the food outstanding. There were four of us and we all ordered different entrees, including salad and dessert. Everything was perfect. Can't wait to come back.
Service by Dustin was poor. Did not review specials for the evening, did not offer bread, did not refill water and overall was inattentive. Dustin cut my wife off when ordering her dinner before she ordered her main course. Our filets (both) were undercooked with cold Center’s for steaks that were ordered medium. We sent the main course back assuming our order would be replaced and found that the chef tried to salvage the meat by reheating. We spoke to woman who served as maitre’d and settled our bill for drinks, appetizer, and salad and left after almost two hours.
love eating their always a great time they give us our favorite table.
The food was delicious! We really enjoyed sitting out on the patio and our server was great.
The dessert was fantastic!!!!! I loved the turtle chocolate cake. Highlight of my evening. I loved the menu and my husband an I were excited to try this restaurant for our anniversary. The crab dip was okay for the appetizer. Our meals sounded so good in the description but they literally had no seasoning.... just blah. Nothing exciting. They looked fantastic plated but when you took that first taste you weren’t wowed!!! I was hoping the seafood pasta would of had flavor. The waiter was friendly and the hostess was welcoming right when we walked in so that definitely is always a plus at any restaurant. I really, really wanted this to be a 5 star ⭐️ but it just wasn’t there for me. Maybe an off night.
I've been going to Monocacy Crossing for years so I took a client who has high expectations. We both loved the time we spent at MC and the food is always outstanding. The renovations of the restaurant are fabulous and bring a new ambiance to the event. We sat on the patio for our meal and that just adds a little more specialness to the meeting. I would go again anytime and take the most casual guest or the most demanding. Service is a notch above and the atmosphere is friendly yet very professional. If you've never been, you're missing out.
Very enjoyable meal. I think my preferred experience here would be to have some appetizers and drinks and sit outside. Very nice staff and food was quite good.
Bacon wrapped filet was served with raw bacon, duck nachos had an overpowering weird smoke taste.
We had the nicest, honest waitress. She thought we didn’t realize gratuity was already included and came back to let us know. So rare these days! Food and service, fantastic! Highly recommended!
The food, service and ambiance was excellent.
Delicious! Service was delightful and accommodating. We will return!
Lunch was great. We ordered the scallops dish and the pastrami sandwich which did not disappoint. The coffee was also excellent. Our server was very personable and the atmosphere was relaxing.
Monocacy Crossing (MC) is our go-to restaurant for great food, good wine, relaxation, conversation and enjoyment. We consider MC to be the consistently best restaurant in Frederick County.
Monocacy Crossing has very good food at a reasonable price, especially considering the nice portion size. Always a pleasant evening out. Thanks
Our family, including 3 generations from kids (6 & 10) to grandparents, dined here for Mother's Day dinner. The kids options are limited, but the adults couldn't decide amongst the many great choices. They have a gluten free menu in which the highlight a regular menu with the items that can be gluten free - very reassuring to those with Celiac. The server was very attentive without being overwhelming. We would definitely come back for other special occasions (a bit pricey for everyday meals).
So the noise level was a tad loud for me...but I am super sensitive to noise. I will definitely go back maybe when weather is nice and I can sit outside. Food and price and service were excellent. I especially like the fact they offer 1/2 portions. My own pet peeve -- would like if they used take out containers a little more sustainable - recyclable or compostable--will bring my own glass container for leftovers next time Other than that was a very pleasant dining experience.
It was awesome. Worth the time!! Send someone you love there for a romantic dinner!!!
This is one of the best spots in Frederick. The food is phenomenal, the prices are reasonable and the service is always great. The recent renovations were desperately needed, they really spruced the place up! The bar is very loud but there is lovely outdoor seating as well.
A recommendation from the owners of Frederick Inn was in the mark. Seafood was expertly prepared.
I searched for outdoor dining in the Carroll/Frederick County area, and Monocacy Crossing was one that came up. What a stroke of luck that was, on all counts! The restaurant itself has several different dining rooms, depending on how you want to spend your evening. There is the casual bar area that looks newly renovated, a more formal dining room with a comfortable rustic feel, and additionally there is a two level patio area that is so cozy. We opted for the patio, obviously, as it was a beautiful evening to celebrate our anniversary (which I noted upon making my reservation). The wait staff were awesome, especially Kim, our server! Then to the food! Wow, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, prepared exactly to our liking! It was the best meal we've had at a restaurant in a very long time! And since I noted it was our anniversary in our reservation, at the end of our meal Kim asked us if we'd like a complimentary dessert to celebrate! What a treat! We will be back and have already recommended Monocacy Crossing to many friends and family members! So glad quality, ambiance and customer service are still priority at this restaurant!
Quaint restaurant off beaten path with great menu and nice ambience. Scallops were delicious and so were the beef medallions! Definitely going back
This place is a true Gem! I’ve been several times with my girlfriends but my hubby had never been! Planned a date night and he was so impressed!! The food is just amazing “wow”! They have an amazing Chef!! Great cocktails & Appetizers!!
This used to be my favorite restaurant. This was my first time to the restaurant in 15 years. We moved to Texas.I used to love this place. The food used to be amazing. Unfortunately, it taste more like pub food now. The food wasn’t bad but you can find the same thing in any bar in DC. I commuted an hour and a half to eat at this restaurant and I was disappointed. You need to go back to your roots. The food and presentation should match your reputation. I know you can do it it just seems like you’ve gotten lazy. I doubt I’ll make anymore hour and a half trips out of DC to eat here and I’ll definitely have a hard time recommending it to people. Just poor effort. Very sloppy execution. It looks like something that kids make on a cooking show
Atmosphere was very comfortable. Everyone’s food was delicious. Desserts that we enjoyed, coconut pound cake and the German chocolate cake, were yummy.
Our half way point to visit son at JMU.
Awesome! Had a nice anniversary dinner there, surprised by complimentary glasses of champagne from the restaurant. Delicious food!
Joe gave incredible service. Went above and beyond. Food was very tasty and came out right on time.
Love the new look of the restaurant. Really enjoyed the mussels and the fish special snakehead with a citrus glaze and crispy spinach. Would love to see this become a permanent fixture on the menu.
Only reason I didn't give it 5* was because of the noise level. It was hard to hear the people across the table from us. I know the trend is for hard surfaces and a clean look, but often it amplifies noise.
Based on previous visits, this one was fairly disappointing. Waitress was clearly holding too many tables. Meals were served and no return to table to inquire status until I found someone to locate our waitress after I had previously found someone to bring condiments. Note: if you want to charge the better part of $40 for a meal, don't have the runners yelling out requests to find where each plate should go. Seven out of eight recipients had to identify themselves ... the eighth was delivered by default. Also, no training on which side to deliver/remove plates--Carrabbas as locals, we have other choices. Maybe it was just a bad night, but even leaving the restaurant, no one could locate the manager for a conversation.
Had a wonderful dinner here yesterday. The food was creative and delicious and the service was excellent. The crispy deviled eggs and artichoke beignets were both excellent first courses!
I guess OpenTable told them it was almost our wedding anniversary because as soon as we were seated, the waiter made us an anniversary gift of glasses of champagne for our celebration! That was so nice and so unexpected — really a great thing to do for their guests.
Great food, great service. Delicious! We really enjoyed ourselves.
This place keeps getting better. The chef is ready for top chef television
The food was very salty and nothing too special for Easter. Feeling disappointed.
