Monocacy Crossing has very good food at a reasonable price, especially considering the nice portion size. Always a pleasant evening out. Thanks

Our family, including 3 generations from kids (6 & 10) to grandparents, dined here for Mother's Day dinner. The kids options are limited, but the adults couldn't decide amongst the many great choices. They have a gluten free menu in which the highlight a regular menu with the items that can be gluten free - very reassuring to those with Celiac. The server was very attentive without being overwhelming. We would definitely come back for other special occasions (a bit pricey for everyday meals).

So the noise level was a tad loud for me...but I am super sensitive to noise. I will definitely go back maybe when weather is nice and I can sit outside. Food and price and service were excellent. I especially like the fact they offer 1/2 portions. My own pet peeve -- would like if they used take out containers a little more sustainable - recyclable or compostable--will bring my own glass container for leftovers next time Other than that was a very pleasant dining experience.

This is one of the best spots in Frederick. The food is phenomenal, the prices are reasonable and the service is always great. The recent renovations were desperately needed, they really spruced the place up! The bar is very loud but there is lovely outdoor seating as well.

I searched for outdoor dining in the Carroll/Frederick County area, and Monocacy Crossing was one that came up. What a stroke of luck that was, on all counts! The restaurant itself has several different dining rooms, depending on how you want to spend your evening. There is the casual bar area that looks newly renovated, a more formal dining room with a comfortable rustic feel, and additionally there is a two level patio area that is so cozy. We opted for the patio, obviously, as it was a beautiful evening to celebrate our anniversary (which I noted upon making my reservation). The wait staff were awesome, especially Kim, our server! Then to the food! Wow, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, prepared exactly to our liking! It was the best meal we've had at a restaurant in a very long time! And since I noted it was our anniversary in our reservation, at the end of our meal Kim asked us if we'd like a complimentary dessert to celebrate! What a treat! We will be back and have already recommended Monocacy Crossing to many friends and family members! So glad quality, ambiance and customer service are still priority at this restaurant!

This used to be my favorite restaurant. This was my first time to the restaurant in 15 years. We moved to Texas.I used to love this place. The food used to be amazing. Unfortunately, it taste more like pub food now. The food wasn’t bad but you can find the same thing in any bar in DC. I commuted an hour and a half to eat at this restaurant and I was disappointed. You need to go back to your roots. The food and presentation should match your reputation. I know you can do it it just seems like you’ve gotten lazy. I doubt I’ll make anymore hour and a half trips out of DC to eat here and I’ll definitely have a hard time recommending it to people. Just poor effort. Very sloppy execution. It looks like something that kids make on a cooking show

Love the new look of the restaurant. Really enjoyed the mussels and the fish special snakehead with a citrus glaze and crispy spinach. Would love to see this become a permanent fixture on the menu.

Only reason I didn't give it 5* was because of the noise level. It was hard to hear the people across the table from us. I know the trend is for hard surfaces and a clean look, but often it amplifies noise.

Based on previous visits, this one was fairly disappointing. Waitress was clearly holding too many tables. Meals were served and no return to table to inquire status until I found someone to locate our waitress after I had previously found someone to bring condiments. Note: if you want to charge the better part of $40 for a meal, don't have the runners yelling out requests to find where each plate should go. Seven out of eight recipients had to identify themselves ... the eighth was delivered by default. Also, no training on which side to deliver/remove plates--Carrabbas as locals, we have other choices. Maybe it was just a bad night, but even leaving the restaurant, no one could locate the manager for a conversation.

Had a wonderful dinner here yesterday. The food was creative and delicious and the service was excellent. The crispy deviled eggs and artichoke beignets were both excellent first courses!

I guess OpenTable told them it was almost our wedding anniversary because as soon as we were seated, the waiter made us an anniversary gift of glasses of champagne for our celebration! That was so nice and so unexpected — really a great thing to do for their guests.

Our guests drove an hour plus to join us and called the next morning to plan another visit to Monocacy as they enjoyed it so much.

It was Easter Sunday, and our families were in other states! Generally on holidays I like to be at home, but decided it would be fun to drive out to Urbana to go to Monocasy Crossing, my favorite restaurant. We sat outside and had a interesting cocktail, while our table was getting ready. Our food was delicious, our waitress Kathy was excellent, and the wine was fantastic. There is a reason why it’s my favorite restaurant

We were looking for a new place to have dinner in Frederick and stumbled on Monocacy Crossing. We did not know what to expect, but the crowded parking lot suggested that the locals knew this was a place worth going to. The portions were huge, the food delicious and the price very reasonable...essentially, a steal. Other than a long wait between appetizers and entries, everything was great and we would definitely come back and recommend it highly.

We live in Hagerstown and this was our first time at Monocacy Crossing. We were searching for an "in between" place to meet another couple from Baltimore and selected this one based upon location and great customer reviews. Happily, the reviews were spot on.

Arriving on time for our Saturday evening 6:15 pm reservation, we were immediately seated in one of the back rooms by a pleasant hostess. Our waitress got our requested drinks immediately....and that was a good start. We chatted far too long since we hadn't seen each other for some time, yet the waitress took our excessive time to order in stride.

One of the 'specials' sounded intriguing to three of us - snakefish - served on a bed of seasoned cabbage, and topped with some type of fried potatoes - so we thought we'd try it. It was awesome...and the cabbage was absolutely scrumptious. Two of us on a keto-style diet, exchanged the potato carbs for string beans. An amazing meal topped off by a good bottle of cabernet and finished with cheesecake.

The ambiance, service and food couldn't have been better. The only reason for a 4* rating was that one of our foursome was not particularly happy with his short-ribs. Otherwise, this establishment rates a 5*. We will definitely be back.

We sat outdoors and were commenting how if there was some shrubbery along the road it would provide a bit of a sound barrier to the cars passing by and give more ambiance.
Other than that we had a lovely evening. Very accommodating and efficient server.
Snake head fish was wonderful!

I found Monocacy Crossing while looking for a restaurant for an anniversary dinner for my wife and myself. When I called to change my reservation time the hostess was pleasant and said there would be no problem. She asked if there was a special occasion for our visit and I explained the reason. When we arrived we were quickly seated and the back server brought 2 glasses and complimentary Prosecco and wished us a Happy Anniversary. Our server arrived and also wished us a Happy Anniversary. The attention by the staff was excellent without being overbearing. We we given the daily specials and a chance to look at the menu. The choices were inviting and well described in the menu. We ordered our dinner along with a bottle of wine suggested by the server. The dinner was delicious. I had been in the food service industry for almost 20 years and this was one of the best meals that I have had in a long time. My steak was cooked perfectly and my wife's scallops were fork tender and tasty. We saved room for dessert which included homemade items by the chef's mother along with an ice cream sandwich made with homemade peanut butter ice cream. All in all this was one of the finest dinners I have had in 15 - 20 years and would highly recommend Monocacy Crossing. We were also told about a lobster special that they offer in the summer and are looking forward to heading back for another visit. It will be worth the drive.

This is a place with a nice atmosphere. Limited menu, which is not a bad thing. I'd rather have a chef who is a master at some but not a chain restaurant book like menu!
The server was pleasant enough, but did not seem inclined to offer any suggestions to my very picky companion. We asked for a different sauce for a shrimp dish (it was on the menu with another item) and she was quite negative, saying, "I don't think we do that". But apparently they DID do that, because the meal came out exactly as specified.
I ordered the beef medallions and they were perfectly cooked and delicious. All the food was excellent. Server was attentive.
The thing that kinda ruined the meal was a very loud party of ten or so - 2 seats away from us. I know the restaurant doesn't have much control of that, but maybe some noise deadening materials could be added (acoustic panels, fabrics?) because the noise just echoed. We couldn't even hold a conversation and could not hear the server!
We will be back, though, because most everything was excellent.

The food is still outstanding as ever, and the remodel of the restaurant is far superior to the previous decor. The expansion of the bar is great, the only downside to the bar expansion is that the acoustics are deafening. My husband and I ate dinner at the bar on Friday evening, and although we were sitting within inches of each other we could not hear each other speak due to how loud it was. While there were some extremely loud groups of people at the bar, the sound just bounces off of the walls and it was unpleasantly loud. We will stick to sitting at the patio in the future, which in our opinion is the best outdoor seating in Frederick, hands down. It is still my favorite Frederick restaurant!
