We had been here previously and had a great experience. Tonight our server forgot to put in our order and after waiting for one hour, yes one hour we asked him about the delay and he informed us he forgot to put in our order. The server was apologetic. Our food then rapidly came out. He comped is a free dessert for our “wait” although we had done the tasting menu and ice cream was included.
Very disappointed. Probably having a bad night but unlikely I’ll return.
Super slow and unprofessional service. Server was nice but I guess he took too many tables at one time. Food is so so. I had much better for that price. Interior is nice. Not sure that I’ll be back.
This was my fiance's and my second time at Monkitail. We really love the food and the atmosphere is great. Very knowledgeable waiters. The duck bao buns are our favorite. It is located in the Dilpomat Resort, so there are great options for drinks after dinner. There is a really cool little lounge next door and the lobby bar has an amazing toasted marshmallow old fashioned.
Amazing except for the Valet stealing from our car. Great night tho. Coming back for sure!
Great service and excellent food
The food is very flavorful and fresh. We didn’t do the tasting menu but went a la carte, plenty of food for the two of us. My favorite is the Japanese Fried Chicken and the scallops.
The food was incredible, the tuna rice crackers and the shittake mushrooms were absolutely delicious. Service was great and our server Matteo was very friendly.
The food was good but portions are Extremely small !! Even smaller than expected. The sides of Brussel sprouts and rice were delicious and plentiful but other options very small. 2 items ordered were never received. Serving staff very nice and ambiance of hotel and restaurant very cool just know what you are getting
2nd visit - ordered Cef's menu -- great as first time -- the wait staff was horrible, never checked on, never listened to our orders, she had to ask twice or more...when needed assistance could not find her ..her bad service ruined a great evening.
Excellent food, very flavorful. Excellent and attentive service.
Group of 8 celebrating birthday and Mother's Day. We opted for tasting menu and it was a very good choice. We enjoyed all items ordered. Our favorites were scallops and sea bass.
The ambiance is good and the food is good. The short rib is a little overrated. The prices are on the high side. I will return one more time to give it a second try.
Great food and variety. The staff looked after us very well. Our favourites were the duck bun, anything with scallops and shrimp tacos.
Have a cocktail at the bar in the restaurant. A lovely obliging crew work there and they make the best Vespers!
It was our 2nd time there and won't be our last.
Food and service was great. Very noisy and hard to hear one another.
Great night!! Our waiter, Pablo, walked us through the menu and created such a great dinner experience for us!! Will definitely be back.
Simply amazing!!! We have the 10 course tasting menu and it was fantastic!!! We celebrated our anniversary and they gave us complimentary champagne which was a nice touch! Service and food was top notch!!! Will definitely go back again!!! Good job guys!!!
Upbeat atmosphere, informative helpful staff, delicious food
The tasting menu was really delicious and a great value compared to other restaurants that offer tasting menus. We brought our friends whom are foodies and they loved it.
This restaurant is excellent but a bit pricey. The ambience is fantastic. It's great that before/after your meal, you and your friends can walk out the the Diplomat Hotel pool and the beach - a real treat. The food is great. All appetizer and even smaller portions. There are no normal size dinner entrees. Prices range from $4 to $27 per plate. Figure on spending approx $50 per person excluding drinks. This is a very unique and special dining experience that I recommend.
Me and my wife dinner out all the time and are big into Asian cuisine. This restaurant is one of the best Asian restaurants I've EVER been to in my life. The food, service, ambiance is AMAZING! It's like stepping into a swanky NY restaurant right here in Hollywood. Matteo is also a true gem, an incredibly knowledgeable server with great advice to truly make the experience memorable. This is an experience you don't want to miss, and ask for Matteo.
The sushi was great! Did not really like anything else :(
Another great experience with Monkitail. This time we actually had the time to experience Nokku. Your manager Mike Sweets was very hospitable and allowed us to sing a few songs. We would love to book our next business meeting in Nokku. Once again Monkitail continues to deliver!
Great service and great food.
The restaurant is beautiful and the food is yummy; however we sat at a table that kept tilting as the legs or floor were uneven. Even worse.. the server was in training and was unable to describe the selections. Her service was slow and she never brought my sushi( which I requested be taken off our tab)
Despite that disappointment ...We were staying at a local hotel and I told our acquaintances what a special restaurant it is.
We enjoyed the shrimp tacos and duck but were disappointed with the prawn and cod fried rice. Tables for 2 too close together. Our waiter Colin was excellent.
An exceptional experience in all respects! The place is cozy and romantic, service attentive and helpful from beginning to end. We had the chefs tasting menu - as everything looked great and we had to try as much as we could. So worth it: every dish creative, delicious and beautifully served. Can’t wait to go back!
What I love about this place is 1st & foremost, food and food presentation! Kind of dark, but great for kids, too! The atmosphere is great for any occasion, and definitely has a local draw which is unusual for a South Florida Hotel. Us locals usually stay away, but ironically enough I ran into one of my friends that lives way out west so Monkitail has definitely has created that buzz! It is definitely worth checking it out, and you will find yourself dreaming of your favorite dishes later. I cannot get enough of the oysters, wasabi ceviche and steamed edamame dumplings. The kids love the kobe beef yakitori and soft-serve mini ice cream cones in their funky flavors, ie: Swedish Fish, Skittles, Coco Puffs and Peanut Butter Cup. MUST TRY!
Amazing food and amazing service. Mateo took care of us in a very special way. He gave the best recommendations and made us have a fantastic night. All the other waiters and busboys were also excellent. Thanks so much for everything, Mateo, and Monkitail!
The ambiance is lovely but the noise level makes conversation difficult. The food is fresh, beautifully presented and reasonably priced.
Killer local haunt tucked away at the Diplomat Resort.
Attentive but not stuffy service; welcoming, professional, yet fun Management team; fresh, inventive Japanese food, well-executed; great value for the standard of dining!
We LOVE this restaurnat. It has the BEST FOOD AND SUSHI IN THE AREA. We are from NYC and know food and restaurants. Thats what we do. Tonight we sat at bar tonight with Megan and Alex. They were awesome. We loved there personal touch and great suggestions. We had a amazing time with them. Food was very good and the service topped the charts.
I’ve been to a lot of Japanese style restaurants and have always come out with mixed reviews monkitail does not disappoint this is the best value for he highest level of sushi grade and service! My waiter Colin suggested some amazing composed sashimi platters the hot hamachi is outstanding and the salmon tataki was great def get the big eye roll and duck buns!!!
Excellent food. Great staff. A bit noisy for our liking.
Some service issues especially with sake and wine but food was great. Very loud place.
The food was awesome. I enjoyed every bit of the meal
We had 8:30 pm reservation. We got our table at 10 pm
We waited 30 minutes in a que in order to speak with the hostess , they were inexperienced and confused.
At 915 pm they told us to go the bar .At the bar took 20 minutes to get a drink .
The manager was not there , nobody came to say sorry for the delay . Nobody offered any complementary drink .
Arriving at the time of reservation, we were informed that “all these people waiting here” had a reservation 15 minutes earlier than ours, so we will have to wait.
It took 45 minutes to get a table, after our reservation time.
Not one person on the entire staff ever cracked a smile. They all looked to be in a panic mode, the entire time.
The place is large, noisy and packed. The service is rushed, impersonal and indifferent.
The food is “hit-or-miss” and different proteins tend to taste the same. You get small portions, when they are ready, not when you are.
The place feels industrial, prices are fine, but the experience is not that of a fine dining. It is more of what I would expect at lunch place in a busy train station.
We’re not looking to go back any time soon.
Some of the dishes were excellent, others were fine. Some were just not that great. My cocktail was not impressive--just a single note, sour. I could have overlooked some of the food/drink misses had our server been more attentive, but we waited more than 30 mins just to get our drinks and put in our order, and the entire meal lasted 3 hours. We were pretty tired because we had flown in that day, so by the end we just wanted out of there. The $65 tasting menu was a great way to sample lots of items from the menu, and more than enough food. The grilled scallops, edamame dumplings, and the miso grilled japanese eggplant were two standouts, as were the desserts.
Food is phenomenal and so is the service. Maybe a little pricey especially on the drink side but all in all a worthwhile experience. I would recommend you check it out at least once for the chef tasting menu
