Late seating at 10:30 but still fantastic service (thanks Pablo) and incredible dining experience. Ordered the duck special with steamed scallion pancakes and it did not dissapoint. Best duck we've ever eaten! Also amazing was the enoki bacon. Life altering. Hamachi roll w/scallion also delicious. Creative ice cream "sushi" was fun but the only thing we ate that was just "very good" and not great. Overall an awesome way to celebrate our anniversary!
The food is absolutely Delicious especially the spicy tuna roll and the Seabass roll And the albacore . The service was perfect all the food came in time, I highly I commented it’s a great restaurant and great atmosphere.
Tasting menu was incredible value
Service was excellent
Definitely the yellowtail toro sashimi. It’s so light and almost smooth, it’s incredible.
Food and service was outstanding. Perfect for a date night. We went for a girls night and it was still perfect.
This was a great place to come, great atmosphere and food was on the whole very tasty I would come again.
Loved the food and service! Noise level was a bit high but it was a Saturday so it wasn’t a surprise. Highly recommend!
Excellent service and delicious food
We tried Monkitail while staying at the Diplomat on a business trip. The food was - awesome! Seriously, the chef was inspired and the service was perfectly on-point. Nice!
Good food , beautiful place and great service
We enjoyed the tasting menu and our waiter was attentive.
This was our third visit in three months. Never disappoints. From the bartender Jose and all the servers who help you with the incredible menu it is always a truly great experience. Can't forget the General Manager Colin who makes you feel like family! See you all next month.
My wife’s birthday invited friends very first time there I must say the food was phenomenal the chef is amazing and with the tasting course 10 courses for $68 is a steal. The only thing I believe the server could have been a little more attentive we went without drinks for quite some time also needed things like new napkins and water. Overall I would definitely be back food was phenomenal once again definitely recommend it
Great birthday dinner
Monkitail not disappointed restaurant. It’s our 4th time and as always superb service and food! Will come again.
The food was excellent and so was the service. We were able to try dishes we normally would not order and most exceeded our expectations. The restaurant was very dark, and the music was too loud for conversation toward the end of our meal. The drinks however were outrageously priced, even compared to the food (which is expensive.) I would come back to dine but skip any kind of alcohol.
Our waiter was awesome! And the rest of the staff were polite and attentive
Wonderful Experience. Hope to come back, next time I am in Fl. Food & Drinks were outstanding z
Incredible service and even better food!
Good food. Nice atmosphere.
We ordered the Chef Special Tasting which includes a dish from every section of the menu. The special is $68 per person. We had the Tuna (Cold), Duck Scrapple Boa Bun (small), Wings (crispy), Short Rib (meat), Scallop (fish), Shrimp fried rice (side), Lamp Chop and Smoked Bacon. For dessert we had a chocolate cake and mini soft serve cones. We also ordered Sake Flights. The best thing on the menu is the mini soft serve cones! The ice cream is die for good! The tuna poke was just okay. I’ve had better at Blue Martini’s. The duck was really good. The wings were also pretty good. Scallops were cooked perfectly, but could have used a dash of sea salt. Shrimp fried rice was excellent. The smoked bacon was also very good!!! The cake was okay. Lamp chops were not cooked to medium temperature. They were not done enough and therefore tough to eat. The short rib was a not very good at all. It tasted burnt and needed some acid to cut the over powering oily flavor. The flavor of thyme was also very strong. However there serve was very good. The waiter quickly offered to change out the short rib to something else when he realized were we not eating it. We ordered the chicken teriyaki, which was also okay.
Overall the ambiance was beautiful and elegant. We had a good time trying something new.
Amazing food and service
Possibly best sushi I ever had and skewers May have been better
Fantastic evening. 3 couples loved everything.
Our table was changed when we asked for more space. Paul was our server, knowledgeable and patient. We weren’t rushed.
Favourite dishes were the scallops and lamb chops.
One problem.....the bathrooms are miles away!
We’ll be back.
You cant put a price on the quality of food! Absolutely amazing
The food was excellent. Service was remarkable. Our server made the entire experience wonderful. Highly recommend the tasting menu.
This was amazing
Food was on point, as always.
The food was amazing
Now it is my fav restaurant in Miami
My experience at Monkitail was not a good one. The only positive was our energetic server, Diego, who was extremely knowledgeable, but also very busy so he was not able to pick up all the slack where the bus crew was coming short. I came for a date night and was sat at what was likely the worst table in the restaurant, a small two top positioned at the doorway between the main dining room and the outer dining room. My chair was jutting out halfway into the doorway and I had to push the table further in so I was not so much in the space of the doorway. We asked to move to a different open table and they refused because the section the open table was in was full. However, we were there for two hours and no one ever sat at the table we asked to be moved to. I was bumped into constantly throughout my dinner. There should not be a table literally half way under a doorway in a high traffic area of a restaurant.
The bus crew was slacking, they did not clear any plates until we began to stack them like tetris or asked them to remove them. The table was not wiped down once. Our server had to come by and ask if we wanted fresh plates even though he had multiple other tables and was very busy. When we finished our sparkling water (which we poured ourselves) they did not ask if we wanted another bottle. The food was okay. We had the tasting menu so we tried 10 dishes and a dessert. We really enjoyed the duck bao bun, the lobster claw, the lamb chops, and the sea bass. The other dishes were just average. Dessert was mini ice cream cones that were okay. The decoration in the restaurant was cool but not cool enough to make up for the experience I had. Thank you Diego for being a great server you were awesome, I wish our experience could have been better because we had heard such great things about the restaurant. I will not be returning to Monkitail when there are so many other restaurants that have far better food, service, and are more accommodating.
Great food! Would have loved more but it was very expensive. Waiter was slow and very preoccupied with the couple beside us. Another server took better care of us, told the manager about how great he was. Being by the beach I would have preferred a more tropical cocktail option.
Jose our bartender was fabulous. His passion and enthusiasm enhanced the experience.
Visiting on vacay
Good food and great atmosphere. Way overpriced for any decent wine. Food was good but wasn't worth the price. Typical Miami BS.
Hands down best food of my trip! Also surprisingly cheaper than I imagined, especially given the ambience and overall elegance of the restaurant. Service was amazing, recommend making a reservation! Would definitely come back and bring friends :)
Amazing food and presentation. Go on Thursday -Saturday and stay for karaoke at the back bar. Hidden gem.
Overpriced and overrated. The sushi is normal nothing to brag about. The service was good, but the prices at hotel are outrageous.
Fantastic Japanese restaurant inside the Diplomat. If you are looking for an alternative to the noisy overpacked miami Japanese places this is your spot. Huge menu, everything comes fresh from kitchen a la carte. Fantastic flavors
Everything was amazing and our waiter was over and beyond , we definitely recommend getting Pablo as your waiter !
Yes for everyday dinning
