Monkeypod Kitchen - Wailea Ratings and Reviews
We were 10 min early for a 7:30 pm reservation and were told they’re running 20 min late. Did not got seated until 8:15 pm! What’s the point of reservations if they are not honored? This was our favorite restaurant on our last trip to Maui so I booked it twice for this trip. Now looking for another option for our second dinner since the time management was so poor.
The food was just ok this time, Mahi mahi was dry.
Just a burger on a plate with no fries? Really? ... seems strange to order those separate. Steps up to the restaurant grossed me out but the ambiance inside was good with live music. Service was crap. Food was okay, but not impressive. We had high hopes for this place but oh well.
I love the Monkey Pod and the mai tai’s and pizza are to die for. I wouldn’t say the service is bad, but I definitely get the impression they are just working to turn as many tables as possible. I had anxiety the entire dinner because the waiter was rushing everything. He even took our mai tais away before they were empty, there was still pineapple in the glass! If you’re looking to relax and enjoy your dinner and company, don’t come here. I felt like I was in a race to win a pie eating contest. Speaking of pie, don’t order dessert. We got the chocolate pie and it tasted like something I’d get on sale at Safeway two days old.
Had to wait too long for a table after having made reservations a week in advance. 20 minutes after our reservation we were offered a table
That seated 16 (we had a res for two). Wanted to put us on the end by main entrance. We flatly refused and were offered outdoor seating.
Had pizza and only give it a three star. Manoli’s is much better. Caesar salad was bland.
The service we received was very good. Our fourth time at Monkey pod in three weeks and our longest wait.
We had a great Valentines day dinner there with friends. The restaurant was packed and very noisy but that was to be expected and we had such a fun time in this lively place. Exactly what we wanted. Service was incredible! Food was best we had so far on the island and coctails were fantastic! They really knew what to reccommend from them menu!
I’ll start with our waiter, Matt.
We had our 18 month old so we ordered her dinner( pizza) right away.
It was delivered to the table next to us.
Matt responded it was NOT his fault- it was the runners fault-
NOTE TO MATT:
U ARE ALL PART OF THE SAME TEAM!!!
That being said the food was very good; the atmosphere is very comfortable and relaxed;
Drinks were good and the service was otherwise good.
Be careful when making a reservation from a different time zone! Our reservation was actually made for 4:30pm when we THOUGHT it was made for 6:30! Luckily the restaurant was terrific about fitting us in and we had a DELIGHTFUL anniversary dinner out on the patio! Our waiter, Dave, was awesome and the food even better! We will come back here for sure!
After 13 1/2 hours of traveling to get to Maui, we were looking for a nice, casual place to get something light to eat. Monkey Pod has served that purpose for us before. The busy, comfortable feel was welcome. We enjoyed the local music. Our server was exceptional. The fish tacos were to die for. Mahi-mahi fish n chips were the best we’ve had in a long time.
If it weren’t for the rude comments by the hostess because we were 13 minutes EARLY, it would’ve been a perfect dinner.
