Food was average at best. Had 8:15 Reservations and we’re not seated until 845 and we were rushed to eat - no apologies for the wait or drink offered while waiting. We were rushed through dinner- leaving at 9:30 Highlight was the drinks -definitely the best mai tai I’ve had but that was not enough to save the flavorless ravioli and overly salted broccoli side smothered in soy sauce ruined the seared tuna as the whole plate was covered in salt soy sauce and couldn’t even taste the fish . The pizza was okay- but nothing special for the price and was undercooked . Would not recommend this place for more than a Drink - very disappointing New Year’s Eve dinner.
At this time, because of Covid, the menu is limited. Fish entree overpriced but tasty.
Chris the bartender was great!
Great ambiance and awesome menu selection..our table out on the patio was a fantastic location where we could hear the waterfall down below! The food is delicious..definitely should try the jalapeño mashed potatoes..amazing!! We were given this recommendation from a couple different people and were definitely not disappointed! We’ll be back for sure!
We love Monkey Pod! The food and service is great! Fresh and unique. The only negative is that when seated outside for dining, those waiting for a table are within arms length. And not conducive to a peaceful dining. Tonight a family in line allowed their toddler to scream the entire time they waited, through the majority of our meal. We couldn’t even hear each other talk over his screams. Maybe a greater separation or sound buffer could be considered.
Now one of my favorite restaurants in the world. Good luck over the coming months. We’ll be back ... one day
Great food, awesome atmosphere and even better service.
Not the best experience at Monkeypod I've had. The audio in the outdoor seating area was much too loud in my opinion and kept fluctuating, which was distracting and made conversation difficult. It being loud Pearl Jam music didn't help much. Pearl Jam is great, but maybe not turned up too loud while you're trying to have a conversation over dinner. We were actually saved it starting to rain when they decided to turn off the music.
Service wasn't great either, took longer than expected for drinks to arrive, inconsistent service for refills. They were out of shrimp as an addition on a salad, the food was good but not good enough to meet the relatively steep prices in my opinion.
Mai Tai's looked excellent as always, though. Still recommend the place for drinks and appetizers. Also the pie dessert...just didn't have it this time.
We were supposed to be on Maui for 2 weeks but it was cut short by COVID19. We would have celebrated our anniversary at Mama’s Fish House on the 21st but decided to go to Monkeypod before we left since we wouldn’t be there to do that. Best choice we made for our last night. The noise inside was a little much but we were seated on the patio beside the lagoon and it was so beautiful. Steve was our most awesome server, the food was delectable and I got some amazing pics of wildlife just sitting there. Watch out Mama’s...you have serious competition!
Never disappointed! Great menu and great prices along with a great happy hour. Make sure to make reservations it’s a hit spot!
The service was poor. Our waitress stood at the wait station after we arrived and did not come to our table until we asked if someone was assigned to our table. It is a very popular restaurant and was very busy, but our experience was such that we will probably not eat there again.
The food is delicious, service is outstanding but the music is so loud everyone raises their voices to have a conversation that the whole restaurant becomes very difficult to have conversation.
Overall, very much enjoyed the experience, in large measure because of the phenomenal server (Jerry). The food really did taste great, especially the margherita pizza. But the portions were small and the prices were big ($17 for the pizza, e.g.) Also, the restaurant was an attractive space, but the live music was way too loud to sit inside, and if you sit outside, then you’re confronted with the intersection of two moderately busy roads. Overall, much to like — especially the service —but a little too loud and pricey for what you get.
Excellent! The best food we had in Maui! The drinks were great, the food exceptional and super family friendly!
A must visit restaurant if you are in Maui/Wailea. The happy hour is a great deal with reasonably priced drinks and appetizers are 50% off, which you can easily make a meal out of. Their Mai Tai’s are deserving of world famous. Our favourite pizza was the Pork and Pineapple. Also recommend the ravioli.
Definitely need to make a reservation, especially for the Happy Hour which is popular with locals and visitors.
Everyone loved their meals and insisted everyone else try a bite and enjoyed a bite of everyone else’s. While a little loud, the ambiance was great, our server was even better.
The ahi dinner is wonderful and we shared a piece of pie for desert. The toughest decision was choosing which desert to get.
Service and food was great. Our outside table worked great. Merriman properties are very reliable.
Amazing food and service! I advise you hit up happy hour for 1/2 price appys and $2 off drafts as well as other drinks. Pizzas only $10! Great vibe and natural healthy foods that are locally sourced!
This is a cute restaurant in a stripmall that’s easy to get to in Wailea. We got an outside table which was great with the nice evening breeze. It was pretty noisy but we could still carry on a conversation. It’s a good energy type noise. Everyone is enjoying themselves.
Our server was fine, just a little slow on the service end. She kept taking to the people at the table next to us and disappearing but other staff jumped right in when need be.
The food was all great! We got the truffle fries and kale appetizers to start and their mai tai’s are amazing!! For dinner my husband did the fish special, I had fish tacos and the kids had a Margarita pizza and a cheese burger which they both loved. But the best was dessert—they had pies so we ordered 3 different ones to share. My fave was the lemon but of course the table favorite was chocolate.
Overall, great casual place for families or to meet friends.
We’ll go back again.
Medium burger had a raw spot & bun was burn black. Left the raw meat, burnt bun but enjoyed the rest. Coconut cream pie was average with very tough crust. Could not cut through so it went uneaten. Our service was outstanding.
Our server Ryan was the best!! Thanks for the great night.
Very average, but a shout out to our waiter, Jake B. He was by far the best thing about the evening.
Couldn't believe they have a wait list to sit at the bar while waiting to be seated for your reservation.
Absolutely delicious Mai Tais! Best on the island!
Found this place on our last day in Maui. Great food service and they had entertainment during lunch. Was sad we found it on our last day would have made an effort to go more during our stay
Excellent food and service.
Outside is amazing as service and food always are. Inside is a bit loud until later in the evening but the good is the best around!!!
Was just ok. Went because a friend recommended and they had live music, which was great as it was Saturday night. Food was just average and over priced. But maybe that is just Kihei/Wailea?! Nothing special about the place.
Fabulous food. Great crew working in restaurant, everything runs so smoothly. Ryan is the BEST bartender!
Over priced cocktails food and service was excellent. Ambiance was terrible and the noise level was off the chart loud
Best pork tacos and Mai Tai!
Our reservation was for 4:45 p.m. We were not seated until around 5:30. We rushed when we didn't have to.
This place is wayyy overrated . Inside it’s a noisy zoo if you eat around their happy hour time .
The menu is basically a set of a ‘couple of everything’ ..steaks, fish, pizzas etc. nothing was particularly interesting or unique .
Won’t be our ‘ go back’ list when visiting Maui
best drinks best food best service I made a mistake on my reservation date and they fit me in😎
Food and service very good.
Don’t drink them at Merriman’s but have to say that their signature Mai Tais with the foam are quite disgusting. Saw a couple of them sent back barely touched. Lose the disgusting foam guys, it adds nothing to the drink except yuk.
Amazing quality for the scale of the restaurant. Scratch kitchen at its best.
We were told to visit MonkeyPod on our visit to Maui and we loved it. The appetizers were great and the drinks were even better.
So disappointed. When we got there (a few minutes early) we were told there would be about a thirty minute wait. So my boyfriend and I tried to kill time and grab a drink at the bar. that did NOT go well. We were totally ignored. We tried to get the bartenders attention a few times, even made direct eye contact, but he never helped us ... So, after about ten minutes, we walked down to the other end of the crowded bar. The bartender on that side was nice and smiled, but she told us she was a "service" tender for wait staff and we would have to order on the other side ... So we went back to the other side and continued to be ignored for another five minutes. SOOOOOO we left and walked around the parking lot for a bit and found a place downstairs that sold beer by the can. My boyfriend bought 2 and as soon as we cracked them open - our table was ready. We went upstairs, and the waitress rudely confiscated his not-even-sipped-yet beer because "you cannot bring outside beverages" ... OK, whatever, I get it. it SUCKED because we *wanted* to buy drinks at the bar but no one would help us. but the REAL kicker is that when I made the reservation, I mentioned that it was my Boyfriends Birthday and requested that they bring him something with a candle in it to surprise him (I said on the reservation that I didn't want him to know I told them it was his birthday and that I wanted it to be a surprise) ... while we were eating, a table next to us celebrated a birthday with a candle, so I was certain his would be coming at the end of the meal. Nope. Nada. So for his birthday ... all he got was bad service and his beer taken away from him. (and again, I get it. no outside drinks. but she was real rude about it) I felt SO bad!!! it was our first night in Hawaii and I wish we would have gone somewhere else. What an (expensive) waste of time and money.
Lekker eten, vriendelijke bediening, maar super druk en zeer veel achtergrond geluid
