Monkeypod Kitchen - Wailea
This is probably the 6th or 7th time I’ve eaten here. The first 3 times I thought the food was excellent. Subsequent visits, not so much. About 3 years ago we had dinner here and waited an extended amount of time for our reservation. We finally agreed to sit at the bar to have dinner. While we were waiting for our dessert I noticed out of the corner of my eye something moving on the floor. I looked down and saw a rat running under the barstools. I asked to speak to the manager to let him know what I had seen. He seemed very nonplussed and told me that I was in Maui and all the restaurants had rats. That was 3 years ago and I haven’t been back until tonight. My daughter wanted to try it again. And although I did not see any rats tonight I was really disappointed. We had the pumpkin ravioli which was good, not great. It was lukewarm. We ordered fish tacos and the proletariat pizza which was supposed to have a lobster topping but there was only a couple of small shreds of lobster and a bunch of soggy mushrooms. The tacos were without much flavor but the Cholula helped. We finished off the meal with their renowned banana cream pie which was quite good. Overall, between the noise and very mediocre food we won’t be returning.
Loved it! Great spot, food and ambiance!
Great dining experience! Three of us started with their famous Monkeypod Mai Tai's. The best we've ever had! Two had the margarita which they also loved! Designated driver had ice tea. We owe him big time for taking one for the team! Lol. Drinks do make your lips numb and feel extra happy! Next course was appetizers. We had pork potstickers and garlic and truffle oil French fries. Delicious! For our main course we had bulgogi pork tacos, Kalua pork & pineapple pizza, and fish tacos. The flavor combination of meals were excellent! We then finished with a slice of coconut pie and Kona coffee and chocolate pie that 6 of us shared. Overall the meal was very delicious! Service was excellent as well. We're going to make reservations for another visit before we leave.
The service is always welcoming and spot on and the cocktails are balanced and tasty. One of my fave spots on Maui!
The lobster pasta was absolutely amazing!! The inside seemed very loud but the patio was perfect. Highly recommend!!
Morgan at the bar was amazing!!
We had a great time there at Monkeypod. With a great atmosphere, fun food and drinks, it was just what we needed after having been in a couple stuffier albeit nice steak dinner houses the couple nights before. it's a fun place to be and hang out while in Wailea.
Awesome food and service!
Great service from a knowledgeable staff. Great local ingredients.
Great Happy Hour. Food and Bev prices are reasonable then.
Outstanding service and the food was phenomenal as always. The specialty drinks we highly recommend.
Our visit to Monkeypod Kitchen in Wailea was great! We arrived just a few minutes early to our reservation and was seated within 5 minutes of checking in. Our waiter was extremely prompt in greeting us and getting us started with waters. He explained the happy hour menu and got us started with our drinks. He was very attentive and made sure he checked up on us often. I wish I could remember his name, he was an awesome waiter and wish I could recommend him to others. This wasn’t our first time eating here so the food tasted great as always and drinks were amazing. Our favorite is the No Ka Oi!
We made reservations and they gave us a buzzer to let us know when our table was cleared off. So using Open table had no effect on getting a table at an allotted time. We waited a while until We realized they forgot about us. Everyone who was there before and after got a table except us. More than 20 people arrived after us. My fiancé checked at the front desk and sure enough we were not down for a table. They sat us down right away. We made the best of it because it really is a nice spot. Trendy. Close to where we were staying. We had two nice servers Shay our 1st server on a previous trip. Tracey our 2nd time around. The Gnoochi, Mai Tais and Mai Tai shots were good. They also provide live entertainment. Overall this was a good experience except that the front desk forgot to seat us, but we were able to turn it around.
My beer was served warm. I asked for another and she said she chilled it (the same one) for me. The dinner special was a big seller. The fish was a bit smaller than normal, but may have just been the presentation. However the onions were WAY too strong and overpowered the dish every time I took a bite. So I pushed them to the side of the dish. It also was drenched in the burre blanc sauce. Almost like a soup... Needless to say was terrible.
We visit Maui annually and always eat at Monkeypod. Many of our friends have been introduced to Monkeypod through us.
The good and service is consistently great!!
We had the deviled eggs with lobster, and shrimp wontons for apps, both delicious! We each got a famous MaiTai and they lived up to the hype! Dinner was also very good, my husband got fish and I had a pizza. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and would definitely go back!
Great vibe. Late evening dinner for us. Loved the music and the energy of the restaurant! Will go again. Lāhainā location is larger with Ocean view which I loved! Almost the same menu at both locations!
I’ve been to MPK several times, and have never had a dish that wasn’t delicious. Tip: Always ask about the day’s fish special. If it appeals, order it!
We loved Monkeypod! EXCELLENT service, great happy hour prices, delicious food and great experience. One of our favorite meals on the island!
Really enjoyed the meal/experience. We arrived in time for happy hour, so we could enjoy an extra pupu and drink before dinner. The rib eye was cooked to perfection, as well as the opakapaka and mahi. Great service from Judd and staff. We will definitely be back. Mahalo
Outstanding waiter, great service, good food! Would recommend for lunch
Loved it, really nice food, experience and the cocktails!
Great mix of food, excellent service, buzzy ambiance. Truly a gem in the area.
Great Mai Tais. Fries were surprisingly good. Bulgogi tacos were very good. Service was good. Brussel sprouts were so-so. Seared ahi was disappointing (super salty).
Nicole our server was great!!! The food was amazing and the ambiance was perfect. We will be back for those dumplings and strawberry cream pie
Great food and view
Great happy hour food and drinks and live music everyday.
Thank you for a wonderful time!
Everything was delicious and the
service was excellent!
We will be back on Friday same group
same time. See you then!
We had a great time and dinner. Our server was so great too!
Great food and ambience. A must for any one staying in Wailea
Trop bruyant et trop familial ou ambiance bar de sport... pénible pour avoir une conversation.
Great food. Great service. Horrible noise level inside. This was a Monday evening so I would assume it may be a higher noise level during the weekend.
Our first time to the Monkeypod in Maui (we have been to the one in Kapolei on Oahu last year). Aside from the lively ambience, we were disappointed overall in our experience here. Service was slow and food was unremarkable for the price. There are so many restaurants to try on Maui... we won't bother coming back to this one.
Fantastic unique delicious food, friendly, efficient service
Love the lively Monkeypod Kitchen! Great happy hour, complete with music. The honey lilikoi foam on top of the Mai Tai's make them hands down, the BEST Mai Tai's ever (and they pack a punch too)! Love their pizza's and pumpkin raviolis. Coco Corn Chowder is also delicious. Their staff is wonderful and always makes you feel welcome. Be sure to save room for their incredible cream pies! They're rich, so you will probably want to share. Make your reservations early, because happy hour and dinner is usually always packed and there is a wait. You can always try to get a first-come-first-serve seat at the bar. Word is out, that the Monkeypod Kitchen is the place to be!
Great time, food was delicious, the Mai Tai was as great as everyone says it is. Told the waiter we were on vacation celebrating an anniversary and we got a complimentary pie that was amazing. Highly recommend!
Outstanding! One of the best places to dine in all of Hawaii. Awesome music by local players.
Essen war ok, es war aber so laut im Restaurant, dass man sich gegenübersitzend anschreien musste, um sich zu verstehen.
The food is great. Service was great. We waited to be seated outside. Inside is very loud. We always return there when we are I’m Maui.
Great food, great service people. A bit too noisy for a wedding anniversary celebration
