Monkeypod Kitchen - Ko Olina Ratings and Reviews
We love this restaurant. They do a really good job in every aspect of restaurant business and we don't find many in Hawaii. I had a salad and loved it but only thing I would like to see different would be onion... It was cut too thick, which gets stuck in teeth and gives me an onion breath. If putting slices of onion, they have to be very thin in my opinion.
Other than that, a server was excellent (Julius?) and we will go back there again!
Albeit on the spendy side — it’s located in a resort, what can you do — their food is delish, their alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (omg, the cold brew bomber...to die for!) are creative and inspired, and the service is great. Add fantastic local music — a Westside win all around.
We went for dinner but Happy Hour was still in progress. We had a great mushroom pizza and very good tasting house red wine to go with it, all of which were on the Happy Hour menu. We ate on the umbrella covered outside patio which was very enjoyable. Monkeypod has plenty of help so you get very attentive service.
Our favorite restaurant in the Ko Olina area is Roy's, more of a fine dining venue located at the golf course. But Monkeypod is right behind it and is a lot more casual.
If you should be staying at the Marriott, Disney, or Four Season properties, there is a complimentary shuttle to the plaza where Monkeypod is located.
We would highly recommend Monkeypod Kitchen and would have no qualms about dining there in the future.
My date ordered the crusted macadamia mahi-mahi, and I ordered the fish and chips. Both items were delicious. There are many options for beer choices and cocktails beyond imagination. We shared a slice of coconut pie that was one of the best coconut pie we have ever had. The service is very good and they do have a happy hour with local entertainment. I will definitely return to this place and highly recommend it. BTW, prices are very reasonable 😊
Although it is a Merriman restaurant, it does not offer the quality of Merriman's on the neighbor islands. It's a nicely appointed, resort-type, open, noisy restaurant where the food is good but not special. The fish & chips used very nice mahi-mahi but its tempura style batter was plain and pretty tasteless. Boarders Restaurant in Haleiwa has a far superior fish & chips and dipping sauce. The wild mushroom pizza was ok but not memorable. It's clean, service was good, accommodates kids well and provides good food if you're not expecting anything special. Its half off special on Prosecco at $22 a bottle was nice.
Well, the Monkeypod did it again. Super Thanksgiving meal. May be the best turkey I’ve ever eaten, plus all of the sides were delicious. Great touch with the sandwich to go! Our 3rd year in a row for this meal. Samantha our waitress was also a highlight, she was bubbly and fun and very attentive. Thanks for a great time!
Went for Thanksgiving dinner. Reservations for 2 were for 2:30 pm. Arrived early but were seated immediately. Good menu. Excellent handcrafted drinks, local beer, full bar. Wide ranging menu using locally sourced products. Service was excellent...wait staff courteous, knowledgable, able to make recommendations when we were undecided about drinks. Ordered the traditional Thanksgiving meal - free range turkey, Yukon gold and sweet mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing. Came with pumpkin pie that was the best I've had. And they topped it off by sending us home with 2 turkey sandwiches for a meal later. Overall a wonderful experience.
We’ve dined at Monkeypod many times before. It’s convenient and there’s a reasonably decent menu.
But the place is so dreadfully noisy now, what with patrons and even worse blaring music, that there is no possibility of conversation at table.
We canceled our reservation for next week.
I was really impressed with the amazing quality and service. I met Bill, the owner, on his flight on Hawaiian Air. He spoke with a couple flight attendants invited us to visit his restaurants. I chose MonkeyPod and it was amazing!!
Absolutemy amazing. We brought my husbands mother, visiting from Texas, who celebrated her 75th birthday. (The Mac-nut Mahi was incredible!). But the hand-made gnocchi was out of this planet! I can't wait to have that again. Never thought much of it till I tried this version. Simply outstanding dish with the freshest ingredients.
Thank you, Bill, for introducing me to such a phenomenal product and good eats. Amazing place. Truly.
My VIP dinner was made exceptional by Karina and friends! Her attention to detail was incredible . Mai Tai's were delivered immediately and then began the amazing appetizers , salad and main dishes! Gnocchis, fish tacos and more. The creme pies are a must! Thank you Karina and Monkeypod staff for your professional fun and genuine caring of your guests!
Look for Karina when you visit!
Overall good experience - I have been here many times before and always had a great time. Today was a bit off though. Went there for Sunday brunch date and it was nice except for the fact we couldn’t have a decent conversation due to the loud music over the speakers. We felt rushed because they brought the check right after they cleared our plates.
Not a great place to eat. Or we had a really bad server and a bad chef that night. We were comped our appetizer because it came out after our meal. The waiter didn’t visit the table often. Just not a good place to eat. Take they drive and find a better place off resort.
