Monkeypod Kitchen - Ko Olina Ratings and Reviews
We love it at Monkey Pod. The food is delicious and the happy hour is a great deal although the prices recently went up. I love the corn chowder and truffle fries. I get those every time I come. I was disappointed because we were there celebrating a birthday and I made sure to write it on the special comments section when making the reservation. We usually receive a complimentary dessert when we a celebrating a special occasion. The server didn’t mention anything about it so I reminded him that we were celebrating a birthday. He said he would bring us a pie but it never came. We did receive one complimentary pie because a couple beers we ordered didn’t show up until we were finished eating. But the birthday boy didn’t get anything. Disappointing.
We were very disappointed in this restaurant. Very over priced. Nothing interesting on the menu. Everything was expensive. I ordered the fish taco. They unknowingly came with a “garnish” of whole jalapeño slices. It was dark and I did not see it and nearly burned my mouth off. They re-made them, leaving off the garnish, and did not charge us the $24 for 3 small soft tacos that came with no tortilla chips or any accompaniment. My husband ordered an expensive fish sandwich that had just a small piece of fish. And again, no sides unless you wanted to pay even more. Pretty ridiculous that they wouldn’t throw a few fries on the plate at no charge. We had to have a snack when we got home as we were still hungry. Major disappointment. Will never go back and do not recommend.
We have eaten at Monkey Pod severl times. My husband likes the pizza. Unfortunately, the pizza was delivered cold. It was sent back and in a very short amount of time a new personal size pizza was presented. The pizza was hot but the tomatoes tossed on top were very cold. My fish dish was hot and enjoyable. We ordered a piece of coconut pie to share. It was excellent and comped by the wait staff to make up for the bad pizza. We will return. Don't be in a hurry.
What a lovely evening at MonkeyPod! We were seated on the patio, where "Big John" performed live music. Cocktails were tasty (I tried a "First Impression"). Three of us had cheeseburgers (yum!), one had a fish sandwich (yum again!), and quinoa salad (again!). Service was friendly. A hopping place, with the Disney resort just up the road - make reservations.
This is my favorite restaurant on the island. The food, the staff, the atmosphere- it’s all great. My husband and I visit at least once a week (sometimes more) and we are never disappointed. The service is impeccable, the food is delicious, and the staff is warm and friendly. If you’re in KoOlina, you must stop in here.
This use to be my favorite place to eat on the Waianae Coast. I have been here many times over the years. In the last year, I feel it has slowly gone down hill. The pizza was served flavorless and cold. The servers are flamboyant and almost bothersome. It will be awhile before I visit again.
Nice restaurant but I recommend a reservation. I saw lots of walk ins that had to wait. Good service but are eager to turn the table so I felt rushed and the waitress took my husbands plate when he wasn’t even finished. This was while my son and I were still eating. That bugs me, they should wait until everyone is done. The place itself is very nice with the tiki torches and outdoor seating. Perfect spot if you’re on a vacation and want something fun and hip.
We had to wait a little for our reservation. The service was excellent - never had to wait for anything in our party of 6. The live music (Thursday night) was very good, and we liked it, but if you wanted a quiet date, this would have been too loud. The food was very good and on point for what we wanted, and the pies for dessert were excellent.
We would highly recommend Monkeypod to anyone looking for a fun night out with good food
Delicious food and our server Stephanie (from Seattle!) was first class! A meal is always made that much better with wonderful & super friendly service ! We loved the squash ravioli appetizer (amazing), the gnocchi and the Ahi tuna. Everything was delicious and it’s a wonderful atmosphere. Modern and cool but not stuffy. I was worried because I looked like a hot mess coming back from the beach but once we were in there I realized people were dressed from super casual on up.
Since I have never been there I did not know what to expect. Parking is not the best as stalls are quite small and tight to maneuver. But the restaurant is quaint, clean and reasonably priced. The lunch menu was limited but enough to get a good feel of the chef's wares. I did like the non-hamburger menu and instead inserted with alternate protein items. Everything looked fresh and appealing. It was a nice way to spend a quiet Christmas afternoon.
Took waitress 12 minutes to greet us and when she finally did, she asked if we wanted drinks when we clearly had a round I front of us. Soup took 20 minutes and our meal consisting of a burger, mash potatoes and side of green beans took anther 45 minutes! Seriously terrible. Medium burger was well done cold as well as the mash a d green beans. At least we could watch our waitress chatting up the hosts at the front while we waited what seemed like forever for our food. Waitress was incompetent, slow, and inattentive.
My San Francisco daughter and I had Christmas Eve Dinner--we remembered the prime rib from LAST year Christmas Day and wanted to have it again! Actually, I wanted it again--she had ordered the fish and while outstanding, was envious of others at our table who ALL opted for the prime rib. So this year, we BOTH had the prime rib.
It was terrific and the piece of prime rib was perfect and substantial. MPK sets a standard with live music, something we value, and which adds to the evening. They were very busy but we never felt rushed.
Other than somewhere between the table and parking lot I lost a tiny origami crane earring that was a gift, it was a perfect evening!
We tried something new and decided to dine out on Christmas Eve as a family. Now it will be a new tradition! Monkeypod never disappoints and the night before Christmas was no exception. Something on the menu for everyone. Our waiter was amazing. My younger daughter wanted something that was not on the dinner menu (a pulled pork sandwich that is on the lunch menu). He detailed what ingredients were no longer available but was positive he could get a sandwich she would like. My vegetarian daughter found many items to choose from. My husband and I shared one another's entrees (fish & chips and the Chef special: prime rib) and had a great "surf and turf" that way. My younger daughter's sandwich came out and she was more than pleased. Great beer and wine selections and creative cocktails too!
