Out of several things.
Very pleasant dining experience.
$43 for Mahi mahi (which was good), was served with plain brown rice and steamed bak choy. Not worth the price for bland sides.
Music is sporadic (local music one moment, then alt rock, rap, pop, etc)
Show up 15-30 minutes before your reservation during peak meal times, parking is horrendous.
We waited 15 minutes past the reservation time for a table.
Lobster deviled eggs are tasty, but not worth $19 for a few scraps of lobster on 2 eggs.
Would go to Merriman’s again, but not Monkeypod
Went for Father’s Day and had a wonderful meal and drinks! Had a great time!
Even with a reservation has to wait 20 minutes.
Pizza has barely any sauce
Not really worth the money
The environment is Very nice
Great Father’s Day lunch
Always love coming to Monkeypod!! Food is delicious, service always great, and ambiance makes you feel like you’re on vacation even when you live here!
Service was great, great atmosphere, very limited menu. Okay food.
Everyone is different!
Great setting and great food. No ocean view thou.
My party enjoyed being seated on the upper level of dining room.
This was a wonderful surprise. I'd stopped in before Mother's Day after a day's sail for a less formal bite to eat. However, Mother's Day was well planned, parking wasn't too bad, we had an excellent table location with a full view of the area and music drifted up from the first floor. We arrived a bit early as we were worried about parking but they were able to seat us right away. It was just a little pricey, e.g. waitress said the Mother's day special was filet and lobster tail but in actuality, it was half a lobster tail and a very small one at that. However, taste was excellent!
We got seated a few minutes after our reservation time which was no big deal but we sat at our table and watched other tables get acknowledged before we did. Thankfully we were able to get a waitress’s attention. We got our first round of drinks and my husband didn’t care for his. After finally getting the waitress’s attention we ordered a different drink for my husband. I had not quite finished my first and was going to drink the one my husband ordered originally. I finished my first and had to ask where my husband’s drink was. She said it would be right out. I finished my drink, I tried to drink slowly. It was Mother’s Day and we both had to drink along! I have no complaints about the food but I go to a restaurant for the experience as well as the food!
Food was good, service was amazing. Felt a little rushed, not by server but from atmosphere. Was there for Mother’s Day and there was no ambience.
Beautiful restaurant with great ambiance, our server was spot on and very gracious.
Great location. Food is average. Hardly any vegan options. Great for tourists, nothing really fancy. Decent prices. Would go back again but more for ambiance, not too excited for the food.
David the server was fantastic! Made Mother’s Day truly special. We sat outside and flies were definitely a big deal. Almost swarming as soon as we got our food. Inside tables a lot better. Overall, great service and quality of food
Really nice time had by my family for Mother’s Day. Social distancing protocols were well exercised well and the wait staff was excellent. The food was well prepared and came out in a timely manner. Over all it was a really nice experience and I would dine here again.
We had a wonderful Mother’s Day lunch! The food was delicious, the service was top notch and the table location on the second floor was ideal for my 85 year old Mom because it was close to the elevator.
Wait staff and food staff great.
It was great!
Good service and food. Would have liked lamb on the menu for Easter.
Will definitely return when out Westside.
Everything was great! The Pumpkin Patch Ravioli appetizer is always a hit! Plantation ice tea is tasty too. Strawberry pie was delicious! Outside chairs are uncomfortable though. I wish they were more comfy.
The ko olina area is beautiful- restaurant had live music and surrounded by beautiful greenery. The drinks were so-so, food- just average- nothing amazing, very limited parking (drove around 20 min just searching for a spot), waited an additional 20 min despite having a lunch reservation- staff friendly by understaffed so not very attentive- room for improvement for sure. Location makes their review!
The music played on Valentine's Day was terrible! Everyone around us was in agreement. It was eclectic and definitely NOT dinner music. I'm pretty open to all kinds of music, but it was a very peculiar mix between New Age and Foreign Techno and a couple old school Hawaiian tracks thrown in. Just a very strange and eccentric collection of music, which, when brought to the attention of our waitress, we were told that the owner's wife made the playlist. Wut the heck? Music was annoyingly loud, too, especially annoying because it was a strange playlist. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Service was very good and food was good too. Change the music and you got a 5-star bar and grill/restaurant!
Our server was outstanding. Really enjoyed the kale salad & Saimin. Plus Ahi was really good - they ran out of mashed potatoes but our server made it right. Sad that there was no coconut cream pie, but was a really nice meal.
Lilikoi Mai Tai is still the best on the island. The food was good, and the service was prompt. The downside was the wait. We had a reservation and still waited 30 minutes to be seated. DISSAPPOINTED about the Banana Pie no longer being on the menu. Bring it back!
Steak was very good and Tom, the waiter provided an excellent service. We had a great time at the Monkey Pod Kitchen.
The staff did a great job in following CDC guidelines especially on a busy Valentine's Day. Granted there were a lot of customers because of the hotels opening up, the staff did an excellent job in making sure everyone was seated as close to a timely manner that they could.
Amazing food! Best in Ko Olina
Everything was great!!!
Our favorite go to place to celebrate all our special occasions
Nice Valentin treat. The special Lobster, shrimp pasta was delicious and bringing back the lobster spread egg was appreciated. Thanks!
My ‘Ohana and I had a great Valentine’s dinner. The staff gave us such a great seat for our children. Despite it being very busy, our waitress was very quick with our orders and swooped in to check on us at such perfect timing. Food was on point as usual, and the drinks are always so delicious. (Mai tai w/ Lilikoi foam.
They only take reservations on special days but you wait in line like everyone else and people without reservations are seated before you. Should have a seperate line for those with reservations or don't bother. In fact if we had known online reservations were only on that day we would have visited earlier and perhaps multiple times. We thought Covid limited them to reservations only and they were fully booked all week except the two times on V day. Great place and food. A bit too pricey but atmosphere makes up for it.
Great evening. The atmosphere and service is great.
We love Monkeypod!! Delicious food, amazing environment, excellent service!
Valentine’s Day was perfect, we had to wait some extra time to check in due to the crowd but food was great and that Mai Tai was amazing.
First Merriman’s operated restaurant in which we were disappointed. Not bad, but seemingly limited menu. Most expensive meal we had in 12 night in Hawaii, and would rank as our least favorite.
Seek out their location on Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai for better views and higher end meal.
We were visiting Hawaii for New Years. There weren't many restaurant options to book due to COVID restrictions. We checked in with the host 10 minutes before our reservation, we didn't get sat for almost 45 minutes. What's the point of having a reservation if you aren't going to seat us at our reservation time? When we finally got sat, nothing on the menu sounded appealing or even looked appealing. It took the server 15 minutes to greet us. Then she disappeared. We ordered pizza and Macadamia nut Mahi Mahi. The pizza dough is blah, no taste. The Macadamia Nut Mahi Mahi was so oily. It was dripping in oil (gross!) My partner had one bite and we were done. When we finally got the server to come around, we asked for our bill. She was really sweet. She said she doesn't feel comfortable charging us for something we didn't eat. We told her, we don't want anything free & we weren't fond of the food and we don't mind paying. We went back and forth, and eventually she said she will bring out the bill. But she doesn't bring out the bill, she brings out the manager. The manager said he couldn't charge us for the food and he wanted to make things right. We left the server a $60 tip because it's not that we didn't want to pay, we just didn't like the food.
Overall the food was a total fail. The server and manager were really kind, but it took 45 minutes after our reservation to get sat. It took the server another 10-15 minutes to greet us and we didn't see the server after our food was brought out until we asked another server for assistance. We left a $60 tip because we didn't want anything for free. We understand a lot of businesses have been impacted by the pandemic and the last thing we want to is to get something for free. I wish I could leave a better review but it was a very disappointing especially after seeing all the great reviews of this place.
