Monkeypod Kitchen by Merriman - Whalers Village
Overpriced - even for Maui
Best Happy Hour!!
Good food and great service. We loved the Hawaiian singer.
The live music was so loud I could barely here the person sitting directly next to me. I felt the food was more expensive than the value of it. Me and my boyfriend actually decided to split an app and find somewhere else to eat dinner. Underwhelming.
Birthday - service was amazing!!!
Great location. Excellent food and service.
Experience was not as expected, food is good but service is clunky and needs addressed.
Birthday dinner for my husband. Everything was great!
It was a birthday celebration. The service was good, food is your average up skilled Hawaiian Bar and Grill, nothing to write home about. If you are trying to have a conversation, this is not a place for you. I will say their Mai Tai was very yummy.
Two words- Happy Hour! Great food at great prices. We go to Monkey Pod at least once when we are fortunate to visit Oahu or Maui. Mai Tai not quite as good as we recall, but food was the standout.
Great Happy Hour in Kaanapali!
too loud. I would recommend the restaurant, but would also include my comment about the noise level.
Food was not worth the cost paid per meal.
$25 for fish and greasy fries
Best mai tai’s that we had in Maui. Everyone loved the food too!
Fantastic service. Fin was the BEST. Great Happy hour!
Great service and Ono food!!
Excellent food, service and music
My new favorite restaurant in Maui! Everything is fabulous and beautifully presented. Ahi tacos, fish tacos, seared ahi, and New York steak- all delicious and winners on the menu. I love to have the recipe for the Jalapeño mashed potatoes - they are beyond amazing. Oh - best mai tai - love the foam.
Great all the way around food drinks and view outstanding coming back tonight!
Went at 7:15 tons of noise and seating is virtually on top of each other. The food was the shining star, as it should be, not much else would make me want to go back.
The Mai Tae was great and the live music was fantastic but the food was not good. Fish and chips, fries were cold and the fish was very thick with pinko and little fish. My husbands hamburger was very salty and not good tasting. 🙁
We loved Monkeypod! Service was friendly and excellent on both visits and food was exceptional! Atmosphere is a bit upscale/beachy-comfortable. Enjoyed live music both times we visited!
Food was ok, pizza crust was a bit too crunchy for our liking. What we didn’t like was that we weren’t told that there will be extra charge($7:50 in total) to swap the meat on pizza with veggies. Would have been nicer if we were informed when ordering...
This location does. It compare the the location at Wailea. The food is need work. It is not prepared with any care.
Even though we had reservations, when we arrived about 10 minutes early we had to wait until about 7:20-7:25. I'm sure the reservation helped shorten the wait.
Ashley our server was great. She help make the evening very enjoyable.
The food was good, not great.
Overall impression was Monkeypod is a good place to mingle with the Maui visiting crowds.
The location in Lahaina is much nicer and the service at this location was terrible. Hard to believe they are the same restaurant. I asked for the noodles for my kids and the waitress had no clue what I was talking about-come to find out it’s even printed in the menu that noodles for kids are free. We ordered something during the happy hour and then when the bill came the waitress explained that the item was one of the Happy Hour exceptions. The food was okay the dessert was amazing as always but I really wish we would have had a better experience.
Best Mai Tai in Maui great ambience and location and if you want excellent service ask to be seat with Fin she was awesome and very attentive. The food good, great value and best drinks in the area . They use local rum (Kula) and organic passion fruit .
We always come for the ravioli and no ka oi cocktail
Yearly visit to Hawaii
Overall, we found Monkeypod to be average for the Kaanapali area. Our Open Table reservation got us a prime table overlooking Whaler’s Village and the ocean (in the distance). We then waited 10 minutes for a service person to acknowledge us and take a drink order. Ten minutes later, we had our beverages. The waiter emphasized the local sourced product, but I am not sure that is so different from other restaurants in the area. We shared fish tacos, a salad and banana cream pie. All were OK, the fish tacos are not as good as some of their local competitors to be honest. Service continued to be spotty throughout our dinner. Overall, we found it meh. Average for the area, including value for money.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner and they had a turkey dinner but we opted for other food which of course was still delicious!!
Food here is always amazing. Our server on Thanksgiving was incredibly nice and entertaining. Wonderful way to spend the holiday!
A fantastic spot with a great sunset
great food and service
Thanksgiving
We love Monkeypod!
All good can’t wait to go back on next vacation.
Great place and unique menu.
Great happy hour. Great service. Will go back whenever we are on Maui!
Too noisy and very warm to enjoy dinner. Over priced dinner . Not the placed to be if you want a quiet dinner or be able to hear or talk with friends and family
The mai tai was excellent. The charge for the coke was high and the food was above average yet prices higher than other meals at other comparable restaurants.
