The price and the quality of the food did not match up. The food was very basic and not a lot of taste, but very expensive. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Dining was such a grand experience last Friday when the highlight was to be a concert at Symphony Hall! It all came together perfectly, and we had a lovely dinner and time spent there. You added a beautiful San diego sunset, too!
Very dependable food and service, especially for a business meal.
Fantastic food and great service
The ossobuco was perfect, the sign of an authentic Italian restaurant. Great service in an establishment apparently dedicatd to good food prepared with a creative hand.
Not as good the second time around. Food was wrong for my wife and my git cold waiting. My spaghetti and meatballs were tasteless
A new favorite! One of the best all-around dining experiences to date, from attentive service, exceptional charcuterie, pasta, dessert, cocktails and ambiance.
Annabelle was our server and she was amazing! Went for the Wednesday cheese bowl risotto special and of course, it was delicious! Love this place, the food, and the employees.
Wine selection was large with a good variety. My dish of bone marrow and pasta was not as flavorful as I had hoped. End up sending it back to the kitchen after two bites . Waiter was very understanding , offered to replace my meal with another option. My husband’s lobster and pasta was good but didn’t wow us. Cheese and meat platter was well presented with quality product. Overall service was wonderful but I wish the food was better .
It was lovely. Food was fantastic. The pasta in the cheese wheel with mushrooms was delicious. We were in a tiny table in the corner but service was great and we had a wonderful experience
The parking is terrible, especially for a disabled person. The food was delicious but sparse, especially for the cost.
Our server Megan was delightful, bright, and attentive! Thanks Megan!
The hostess very rude by been on phone as we enter and not greet us properly. She tried to seat us while also been on phone and we had to repeat our names at least twice to her while on phone. I had made reservations on open table for three people. We were taken our seats by a waitress, the table we were taken two was very small and we requested a bigger table. We pointed to one and was told it was reserved be that there was know one else there at 4:00 pm on a Saturday and no one ever showed up while we were there the whole time. As our food arrived we really couldn’t enjoy from the cold a/c blown directly over us making our pasta, and pizza cold. So really after cold food we couldn’t really enjoy it was time to go. So I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It’s over priced and the people really weren’t that welcoming from the start.
The most amazing home made Italian food. And the cheese wheel was insane!!
This restaurant has declined over the past two years. The quality of the food was disappointing as compared to prior visits. Appetizers were good, but the Spaghetti a la Vongole tasted like iodine and the tiramisu was splashed with alcohol to the point where it was soggy. It seems to me that the portions have increased in size at the expense of the quality.
I was greatly looking forward to monello after a friend had recommended me. My boyfriend and I wanted to come here for Valentines Day. That was our first mistake. They offered a special Valentine’s Day menu which most places do, however it seems they raised their prices for this event which made me upset and not excited to be spending so much. Especially since I looked at their regular menu and noted that the pricing seemed reasonable. Second, what Italian place doesn’t serve bread as an appetizer?! They gave us Lima Beans. Yeah. Not worth the price we paid for the pasta.
Super overpriced for what you get (especially the wine selection). Enjoyed the food and atmosphere but unfortunately will not be going back.
V-day dinner date.
I’ve been here a million times and I keep coming back. Love this place!
We expected more for the money - even bread was extra cost. The food was good but not as good as many other Italian restaurants we have eaten at
We had a lovely birthday celebration here two nights ago. Great food and good service.
Just amazing! Wish they'd open one up in the SF Bay Area! Everything about it is 5 star.
Great place, just not my type of food
The food was delicious!
Meatballs and Cheesewheel pasta were our favorites!
Awful placewithprettyawful food
I was recommended here by a friend and was able to visit during the last Restaurant Week for lunch. I'd come back for the gnocchi and battuta di pollo alla griglia. I really want to try spaghetti neri con polipo next time though!!
Excellent Brunch!!!! Our waiter was also excellent and very helpful with selections!!!
Live in TX but love Little Italy when in San Diego. Monello's food was very good.I had the black ink spaghetti and octopus. It was delicious but my favorite dish was the butternut squash soup. It was the perfect warmer for a cool evening.
Nice venue, did not feel crowded or rushed. Only glitch was a small error on the check, but will definitely return.
Delicious food and wine on tap! Definitely recommend...get the cheese wheel special
This was our first visit to Monello. We used the Restaurant Week special lunch menu @ $15 per person to give it a try. It was an excellent value and great experience. The food and service are very good. We ate inside despite the fact that there's outside dining because of the noise and activity on the street. In addition to excellent food, they have gelato, the perfect desert after and Italian dinner.
It was the first time for a few in our group and they just had an outstanding time. Jennifer was our server and she was just phenomenal. Nothing flustered her and everyone in our party felt welcome. The food was great, my wife had the ink pasta and she loved it. Overall a great night.
The food was really good and the service was great!! Visiting San Diego and this place was a great choice. Loved the squid ink pasta and the gnocchi. The homemade pasta was excellent. The Caramelle was excellent and very rich. Love it!!
It was my daughter's birthday and despite informing the hostess/servers at the time the reservation was made, nothing special was done to make her evening any different than had we been there for a regular dinner.
The lobster pasta looked amazing but I was a bit disappointed that the time it took me to crack the shells and get the meat out so I could eat the rest of the dish went cold so it wasn't as appetizing as it could have been and the pasta seemed a bit overcooked too
I saw the Parmesan Wheel pasta on a random Instagram page last week. We happened to be in Little Italy having happy hour when our group decided that we were STARVING. I got on Open Table and they had a seating for us. YEY! We were not disappointed. 2 had the Parm wheel pasta, I had the Lobster spaghetti, and another had the pizza. We had the cheap Chianti ($40 😘🤣) - it was really good! All of us left fat n happy. We will definitely return. My recommendation for a date would be to split a Parm pasta and a pizza. The best of both worlds! Joel was out waiter. Outstanding service!
I really loved it here. The only thing I was mad about was the fact that we ordered the special risotto to go. Not knowing that we would pay the same price as the cheese wheel. Our server didn’t tell us.
We had a wonderful experience! The risotto on the parmigiana wheel was fantastic! The reason for the 3 star on food, was that the lobster in the lobster pasta was way over cooked, and we never got a check back to address it. Also, the veal dish was underwhelming.
Cheese Wheel Risotto was to die for! Megan, our server, was amazing!
It was delicious! Fantastic and the attention was the best
The food was delicious. We will be back for the risotto cheesewheel!
