    We waited 15 minutes to be seated; however, there were only two tables that has diners so not sure why we had to wait. I ordered a tequila and soda and my friend ordered a jalapeño margarita and it was the worst drink we've ever had. Neither one of us finished them. My friend had the ribeye and it was awful and so thin and tough you couldn't even cut through it and the fingerling potatoes had zero seasoning on them and they were so dry. I ordered the mac and cheese with chicken thighs and the chicken was so overcooked it was hard to chew and just awful. We dined here previously in the summer and it was the best experience which is why we thought we would try it again. We will not go back to this restaurant again.

    Our table ordered the beef tip appetizer, which was over cooked and the meat was grainy. It also didn't come with any sort of sauce. The gouda bites were delicious but the sauce was bland. My ribeye steak was overcooked past medium rare TWICE. I didn't send it back the second time because we had a show to get to. Our server was MIA most of the night and it took us 2 hours to make it through dinner despite the restaurant being empty. On the positive everyone enjoyed the craft cocktails and my daughter had the Chilean Salmon and said it was delicious. Would highly recommend that dish. I just feel like the place was too empty for us to have had so many issues.

    We ordered things that would not take long to make since we had a show to get to. The fried calamari was overcooked and chewy and the breading on it was very floury tasting, but the dipping sauce was good. I had the Steak and Frites. The steak was cooked perfectly, but had little flavor. I have better steaks at home from Hy Vee. The potatoes weren't too bad. My wife had the Salmon and was very pleased with it. The restaurant was fairly quiet which was enjoyable. I don't think we will go there again, but it wasn't very bad.

    We had date night our first time at Monarch foe dinner and our meals where dissapointing for the price. Our appetizer was the house fries that where not crispy ans hard to pick up because they would break apart the Aioli was very good. Dinner my filet was severely overcooked and burnt flavor was off as well meat tasted old. My husband ordered the ribeye and was definitely not medium and quality was not there for $50 steaks. Our waitress was great and provided great service.

    Great show menu for my wife, Mt burger wad hot but the fries were stone cold. My peanut butter choclate cake arrived frozen with ice crystals. The waitress comped it and sent it home with us. But was disappointing at the time

    Everything was great. The only thing I might have appreciated was a small bread item with my wine. Because we had the complete meal--from salad to dessert, we did not order an appetizer, but we really missed some type of bread item with our wine. I highly recommend Monarch and Hotel Deco whenever I have friends attending the Orpheum--we live out of town and that is usually when people we know are coming to Omaha.

    we went before a broadway show and were pushed into ordering from the pre-show menu (we were not provided any other menus, even though we saw items from the regular menu brought out to other tables, later on). the food quality was unbelievably poor and disappointing. every single course was poorly executed (huge chunks of rosemary in the soup, salad looked like something from a hospital cafeteria; the ribeye was the thinnest cut of meat i’ve ever seen and tasted like freezer burn and char. one of the cuts was okay, but the other was more gristle than meat. the desserts were dry and flavorless). the service struggled throughout the meal and went from inattentive to aggressive (the host reached over and grabbed my cc off the table while asking if i was ready to pay). i had really liked the proximity of the restaurant before orpheum shows and had gone several times last year. i doubt i will be back any time soon.

    Tuna ceviche was excellent- definitely a sharing appetizer or could be an individual main. My partner’s steak was medium rather than medium-rare but tender and great flavor, and the cremini mushroom sauce was excellent. The vegetarian choices were disappointing. I like my veggies on the crunchy side but not towards raw. The root veg main I ordered had the makings of a great flavored dish but the root veg needed to be more cooked to absorb flavor from the sauce and to blend. If that is adressed it will be a great dish. I’d go back just to see if these issues are addressed as the ambiance and location was great.

    Monarch is outrageously overpriced. My salmon dish was almost $50 and was so over-salted, it was in-edible. I love salty foods, but this was burn my mouth salty. My husband's pork arrived on a bed of soupy, yet crunchy gratin potatoes, and they had forgotten to add two of the main accompaniments that were supposed to "make" the dish. Cocktails were watered-down and $16. A $40 bottle of wine that we have purchased in a store before was marked up to $150. We ordered 1 cocktail each, 1 app to share, 1 entree, and shared a bottle of wine - Our total bill for 4 was nearly $500. Shocking prices, for very underwhelming food and service. One plus - the glam decor is fabulous, but it does not make up for exorbitant prices and poorly made dishes. Save your money and go elsewhere.

    The ambience and service were phenomenal. Quiet atmosphere, decent music selection, the server was friendly and knowledgeable. The food quality was hit or miss though. The 'smoked' pork chop was very dry and very charred. The appetizers were fantastic, and the drinks flavorful if not poured with a very heavy hand. If you have not had the opportunity to dine at the Monarch and are staying nearby, I would absolutely recommend it. However, I would not go out of my way for a visit.

    It wasn’t the wedding that was the cause of all the noise. It’s the open architecture and a super loud guy in the lower level at a table of 8-12 We waited 50 minutes before getting our food, and asked about our salads, which he deducted from our bill. They were out of Busch light. My recommendation, if you are short staffed, don’t accept reservations the same night as a wedding.

    One of new favorites for dining in Omaha. The connecting hotel - Hotel Deco along with the Monarch make for a great pairing while in town for a show at the Orpheum!

    We have not been to Monarch since the revamp after the shutdown. We can say that based on our recent experience we will likely not be back. The restaurant and bar area were nearly empty. However, it seems that the lack of patrons only caused service to be delayed. We ordered a second round of drinks before finishing our appetizer and they didn't arrive at our table until we finished eating our main course. It was so delayed we were planning to cancel our drink order so that we could just pay the bill and leave. Additionally, when our second drinks did arrive the Jabberwocky was much spicier the second time around than the first. At this price point I expect more consistency in their advertised cocktails, especially with only one person behind the bar. My gnocchi was very good, however my husband's steak was ordered "medium" and came out very well done. Overall, it is nowhere near the same dining experience it was several years ago. We will likely not return as I feel there are much better places in town to have a better experience for the same price.

    The food and service were top notch. I was in town for work and wanted to find a good steak at a local place that wasn't super expensive. I found the Monarch and it happened to be just an 8 minute walk from Hotel Indigo. I ordered the Soup de Jour (Beef Bourguignon), Steak and Frites, and the Pot de Creme. The Beef Bourguignon was very flavorful and a great change from the common soups. The carrots were a large cut and a couple of them were cold on the inside telling me they rewarmed the soup, which is not uncommon practice. The soup was good so I didn't let this distract. The Steak and Frites were excellent. The steak, which was a delicious tender hanger steak, was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The frites (fries) were fresh cut and cooked then tossed with salt, parmesean, and some seasonings. This was also served with a garlic aioli. The Pot de Creme was a delicious chocolate custard with fresh berries and whipped cream. The custard was rich with cocoa and a nice finish. My server Linh was very pleasant, friendly, and attentive. I will be back again when in town.

    With the new chef, I am glad that he was able to take feedback about the calamari that had a good taste, but the rings were too large and the breading did not stay on. The sauce with it was tasty. The duck was good- well done and the vegetables were cooked well. The salmon was prepared well, but the accompanying vegetables were small. The creme brulee was tasty, but served in very small portions. The coffee was lukewarm. Our server was delightful and very attentive. We had a very nice dinner and may come back to see if some improvements may be made.

    The good bad and ugly- I donno, this was a tuff one to rate, Good, atmosphere is great, white table cloths would go along way to enhance the overall feel. Good the calamari app was stellar, the menu is very simple and limited IMO. As were our main courses, but ok nonetheless. Bad-wine service is non existent, and they use Libby wine glasses, the corking fee is extortion, $25 per btl, and I had to open the wine myself …priceless! Bad-our server had absolutely no knowledge of anything on the menu from the beers to the soup, cheese board to the mains. Not sure how long she has worked there? Good-she was efficient and pleasant even thou she had zero knowledge. Ugly-valet parking, more extortion. Beware it’s $10 whether you eat there or stay there, and they don’t tell you that until you get your car back, the guy actually attempted to hold my car hostage until we paid-we didn’t pay. If your going to charge for valet tell the patrons up front and not hold there car for payment! Most hotels/restaurants comp any valet fees if you eat there-common sense.

    Disclaimer: no pictures as they would not do justice to the presentation and the taste of all courses! Also - fair to note we went on a Tuesday evening, so it wasn't busy which worked out so well for us. We had a reservation for a special occasion and it was truly made SPECIAL. First of all, thank you to the server who helped us throughout the menu and provided an excellent service throughout our dinner. One of the best charcuterie boards I have had in a long time. After tasting the wonderful pairings it was hard to stop. My personal favourite was goat cheese (which for our occasion was served in a heart shape, amongst other little things that were done for us), the saltiness, and added herbs accentuated the unique taste of the cheese perfectly, for those trying it as a spread for the first time - definitely recommend to start off with this before moving onto stronger ones. Other cheeses also felt fresh, good temperature, and solid taste. Both chicken and steak were cooked to perfection, sides paired up nicely, seasoning was 10/10! Pros: Paige - absolutely one of my favourite servers of all time. So attentive while not overbearing (i.e. will not lurk around the corner until you take a bite of the food but will make sure everything is satisfactory, or in her case - more than that!). She maintained a perfect balance, kept us engaged and always showed up at the perfect time for another course/question/or just a check in. Chef Doty - thank you so much for coming out to meet us! How can apply to be a second sous ( as you provided excellence to each plate that was brought to us! so let's pretend this position exists) :) But honestly, everything was beyond expectations and whoever put their finger on this experience - I thank YOU!

    The restaurant is in the lower level of Hotel Deco! This hotel has an Alice In Wonderland theme to it. The ambiance and them is remarkable. The food was top notch. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. Definite must to check out.

    Great experience! Food is delicious and reasonably priced. Atmosphere is excellent. Best of all was our server, Linh. She was personable and made our evening memorable recognizing my husband’s birthday. Two weeks later we visited again and she remembered our names. She is a gem!! We will come back for Linh and the great food. A new favorite of ours!!

    We arrived at our reserved time, and it took forever to get service at all, and then we had a long wait for our drinks. We were there almost two hours early before a nearby concert, and we got our food order in so that we would have no time worries, and then 75 minutes after we ordered the server came to us and said they would not be able to prepare our meal due to staffing issues, and charged us for our full 2-round over almost two hours drink bill, and only waived our appetizer charge, and we we forced to head to the 3.5 hour concert (which had NO food available) with no dinner. This was the second and final time we have had horrible service at this restaurant. AVOID!
