The Monarch team combines superb service and even better food to create the preeminent Dallas dining experience! I recommend asking the Sommelier to recommend a bottle of wine or even Ice Wine! Made reservations for a Tuesday night for date night. We were greeted and seated promptly, however, was disappointed to see we were put in literally the furthest, darkest, tiniest corner table in the entire restaurant - on a Tuesday when there were other small tables available and sitting empty. The reason for my two star rating was quite simply the service. I believe Josh was our server, who we saw about 3 times throughout our two hour dinner. We had planned on ordering some starters, salad, entrees, and desert. However, with empty water glasses, dirty plates sitting empty on the table upwards of 15-20 minutes at a time, and me having to get up to ask someone to find our waiter, we decided to cut the meal short and skip the salad and get desert and drinks elsewhere. The guy was completely absent from our table most of the night and in his absence, no one else checked in - not a manager, fellow server, no one. Was a HUGE let down to our second visit here (the first was Thanksgiving dinner) and given this level of service, will likely not be in a hurry to return anytime soon.

I chose Monarch for our 30th wedding anniversary. The restaurant is located on the 49th floor of a midcentury modern building which lends a glamorous feel to the evening. Monarch prides itself on being THE location for celebrations and go out of their way to recognize your event. The hostess sat us in a cozy booth with a view of the Dallas skyline where we enjoyed the sunset’s reflection in the high rise famous for broiling the Nasher Sculpture Center. My husband lobbied for us to choose the surprise tasting menu. I agreed even though I knew my dislike of shellfish, mushrooms, and others would disqualify at least one course. I mentioned my concern to hubby, but assured him that there would be plenty of other food for me. Little did I know that shellfish, raw items, and mushrooms would be in almost every course, LOL. Despite most of the items being selections that I would not normally choose, the experience was remarkable. The penultimate course even included my least favorite vegetable, asparagus. I can’t wait for asparagus to go out of style in the fine dining circles. Does anyone actually prefer those bitter fibrous sticks? I tried at least a bite of all the courses (save the raw oysters which I just cannot), and I can confidently reconfirm my standing culinary preferences. There was indeed plenty of food. I did not leave hungry even though my husband ate 75%. My husband and I had a good laugh as each course arrived with selections that I do not care for. When they finally served us one of my most favorite things for dessert, I almost clapped with glee. Overall, the experience was grand. The Monarch makes you feel special when serving their tasting menu. I would love to go back and taste all the delicious sounding items on the menu that I didn’t get to try because I gave up my selection privileges to the surprise tasting experience. In the future, I may feign shellfish and mushroom allergies when ordering a surprise tasting menu. ;)

Good but not great and not worthy of the prices charged. Additionally the wait staff and hosts hanging around tue front door and chit chatting and not making way to get out of the restaurant left me with a bad final impression. I don’t know that I would recommend or go again given just that last point.

Food was Excellent! Bar tenders were not top notch. No napkins or coasters. Our waiter was not tentative. May have been overwhelmed. I started asking the bus staff(excellent) fir refills of wine. There were several staff standing at the door with their face in the phone. This was a client dinner. Do disappointing

Monarch was a wonderful treat for our 1 year anniversary! The food was absolutely delicious, top of the line. The views were spectacular from what we saw, although we didn't get to sit by the window. It seemed like almost every table around us had big signs from the restaurant that said happy birthday or happy anniversary, which looked fun. I wish I knew about that in advance so I could have ordered one. Anyway, the food was delicious, thank you.
