The food and service at MOMOYA just can't be beat! I love it!
We had a wonderful dinner and Win took excellent care of us. Definitely try the Crispy Rice Roll!
Food is consistently very good. Inside decor is lovely and nice outdoor space. The only issue is that there is construction nearby creating a pretty big rat issue in the street where they have additional outdoor area. I have eaten there when rats are running under the tables and past shrieking customers-not a fun way to eat dinner. Seems like they could be doing something to deter this. Help always seems very stressed and overwork. But love the menu and quality of the food-so will keep going.
Momoya is under new ownership for two months or so, and I found a significant decline: in menu especially, but staffing and service as well. But the menu especially has been watered down: no Tricolor Salad, etc., etc., many favorite dishes no longer available. Also prices have gone up, especially liquor.
Food quality and portion sizes have gone down. Also outdoor shed seating is over stagnant water. Smelly stench. Its a shame cause it was fantastic before.
I always enjoy eating at MOMOYA. The food in the service are top notch and the ambience is lovely.
The food was high quality the service was fast and the waiters were very polite.
Everything was delicious, and the service was very good, except that a server brought someone else's appetizer to our table (though it was quickly removed). Only issue – quite loud, with little to absorb sound.
Always delicious and fresh, outdoor seating a major plus. Highly recommend.
As always the food was very good. I love the tuna tortilla and the Brussels sprouts. Hubby loves their sushi
very fresh sushi--great selection, great service...very tasty
Just fabulous. Sushi abs Sashimi combo was great. The spicy tuna roll was one of best I Have had, sushi and sashimi (slides perfectly) was fresh and tasty. Will be returning for sure!
Great spot for outdoor dining. Can get busy on the street but the food was really good!
Extremely disappointed as we had wanted to try - came here with my young son who isn't eligible to get vaccine - had booked an outside table but after taking cab over and arriving on time they wouldn't seat us outside, saying it was too wet from recent rains even though there were others sitting outside. Really disappointing as I want to support local neighborhood spots but think they just wanted to go home for the night and really didn't care to deliver against reservation we had made :(
Not up to par during our meal - from start to finish UNDERWHELMED
Great food Great service
I always have a wonderful time at MOMOYA. The food and the service can’t be beat.
The chirashi is beyond gross. Avoid the toro sushi.
Love the food. Shrimp a bit too spicy but everything is fresh and good!
Unfortunately the outdoor seating at Momoya is not very pleasant – on the sidewalk. Only a few tables, which I never seem to be able to get, are in the tent.
But I love the sushi at Momoya —it and the appetizers are consistently good
Momoya was reasonably good with fresh fish, but muddled flavors and extra loud atmosphere made for a less than perfect evening.
Menu was limited. I had a green salad, dressing tasted a little bitter. Portion was large. I also had a ‘Boston” roll.. Very Dry, it needed some kind of dipping sauce and almost half of each piece was some kind of leafy green. I had not been to Momoya in a while and decided to go there for a business meeting because my associate wanted to eat Japanese food and I thought the atmosphere was nicer than some of the other restaurants. While the atmosphere was slightly nicer my overall experience was disappointing.
Delicious, fresh Japanese food.
Attentive wait staff.
This is our grandson’s favorite restaurant : we just celebrated his birthday at Momoya and had a great time.
Nothing Fishy Here!
Momo (as we call it), has been consistent from day 1! A lovely space, they offer both standard and imaginative fare. I'm never "FIN"ished eating here. 5 Stars!
Momoya never disappoints! The sushi is a cut above other sushi restaurants and the presentation is wonderful. Even the edamame is outstanding - and the homemade shumai is a MUST! The restaurant was very busy the other night and the staff went above and beyond to ensure the service was timely, efficient and also very friendly! We love Momoya and can’t wait to go back.
Very fresh fish and large portions, never thought I would say that of a Japanese restaurant. Good value for the food and quality.
MOMOYA is one of my favorite places on the UWS. Great service and great food. I really enjoyed the shrimp tempura appetizer which was crunchy and delicious and their sushi was as yummy as always.
Asking for proof of vaccine
Consistently one of the best sushi restaurants on the Upper West Side. Have never tried any of the cooked items except for the spicy fried shrimp appetizer which is delicious.
Very good place, we sat outside and their outdoor setting is very nice. Excellent sushi at extremely reasonable prices (especially for UWS)
I love dining at MOMOYA for the wonderful food and excellent service! They always make me feel right at home.
We had the sushi entree and the fish melted in my mouth. Service was excellent and someone was always around to clear empty dishes and glasses. Excellent meal!
Usually very good - however service really bad this particular evening. Too bad
The sashimi is outstanding!! Our waiter didn’t get the fish right but otherwise awesome. Certainly didn’t ruin the evening. Definitely going back!
kudos to the manager and our waitress for handling a very difficult situation--breakdown of the new computerized devices for orders
so incredible. food and service amazing
Nice spot with excellent service.
Menu has some unique items.
Crispy rice is outstanding.
The food was delicious and came quickly. While we got our seats outside as per our request/reservation, we were seated very close to the table next to us and I had to work to move the table and chairs, as the staff looked on. Further, we were asked to vacate our table the moment the check came to accommodate other diners. I’m under the impression that we were supposed to have the table for 1.5 hours and we were barely there for an hour, so that left a bitter taste for the restaurant.
We had the $70.00 sushi tasting menu. Instead of a twelve sushi assortment they gave us 2 sushi assortments of 6 each. The sushis included tuna, shrimp, salmon, fatty tuna, yellowtail - they were OK but not glistening. It came with a black cod roll which was some rather mediocre black cod dumped on slices of a cucumber roll. We had asked to sit outside, but they took us into an unpleasantly noisy dining room.
I have been going to Momoya for years and it has been a life saver for me during the pandemic. Thanks to the staff who had worked double shifts in a time where nearly everything else was closed. Their kindness and hard work has not gone unnoticed especially on a time when most had left NYC or isolated in their homes. Thanks for always being open even in winter before outdoor dining allowed heaters. I will always appreciate having a place to go.
