The sever wasn’t professional and put dirty plates which from other tables on my table. It’s disgusting!!! Really disappointed.
Momotaro is the best Japanese restaurant in Chicago. Their sushi is exquisite and combined with some amazing dishes to start, it is well worth your trip. Service is always warm with helpful explanation of the dishes.
Momotaro is my favorite restaurant in the city. The quality of everything is amazing. Everything is unique and delicious! It is pricey but worth it. Plates are pretty small but this allows you to try more things. The izakaya downstairs is also amazing, beautiful, and so atmospheric! It captures the feeling of a Japanese izakaya wonderfully.
Place is always great. Can't miss on the food and the service is always top notch. Highly recommend.
Everything was wonderful! The salmon belly bite was definitely a favorite!
In this complex time the staff at Momotaro was neither judgmental nor uncomfortable. They understood how to both be safe and to engage diners around food and companionship. Kudos!
Great place with amazing Food!
Originally the host tried putting us upstairs which has no ambience at all so we sat downstairs in a booth instead.
The food was good, but I think I’d prefer going to a standard sushi restaurant over this menu. I just wasn’t super impressed.
The service was not very attentive and left all our drinks on the table and didn’t pick up after them.
Also there’s this terrrrible burnt smell like every 10 minutes. There’s not a good ventilation system there.
Beautiful restaurant inside but won’t be back.
Momotaro was fantastic!! I am not a huge sushi lover but I 100% loved the sushi here. It was extremely fresh and well prepared. Definitely going back here.
Exceptional food, service, and company. Looking forward to the next chance to dine here again.
Not your ordinary sushi combinations! Everything fresh. Grilled robata, especially meats, were excellent! Great selection of drinks! Perfect for celebrating a special occasion.
We took our family including our 15 year old, 12 year old and 8 year old and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our waiter and the rest of the staff were so helpful. The “tapas” style led to us trying all kinds of things that we probably would never have order as individual entrees and that alone made it a great experience. The food was awesome. Never had anything like the beef fried rice with its presentation and it was really great. We will be back.
really pretty restaurant and food was so amazing, want to go back and try more of the rabata appetizers.
Everything was fantastic at Momotaro. Fish was exceptionally fresh. Lamb chops were great too. Our server was attentive and patient with us too.
Amazing meal, attentive service, will be back
Have had many meals at Momotaro. Food quality, taste and presentation is always exceptional. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal.
Our service was way off. Not sure what our server had going on, but she clearly forgot about our appetizers and sashimi, she never checked back until after our rolls were gone. When I ordered wine, she came back to the table and told me the $55 bottle of white wine was not available. She came back with a recommendation for $120 and offered no discount. A very disappointing dining experience for a $300 dinner for two.
Outstanding. One of the best in the city. My favorite restaurant.
Always a great experience at Momotaro. Service was warm, genuine, and informed. Started our night here for nigiri and cocktails. It was perfect.
Host was hasty and eager to provide service as were the runners and wait staff. Great food, did not take forever after ordering. Big place, I think there were three levels. So happy to dine in during covid and they have some glass dividers between some of the booths that don’t look out of place or like an add in.
I found it very pricey and frankly I was hungry when I left.
Great food and great experience. Definitely a must
Great staff. Took care of us and made sure to make the night special in a few small ways. We were celebrating a career milestone.
Good food and service was also good! Our waitress was very friendly and explained the specials to us! The Momotaro sushi & izakaya was good! Would probably have loved the izakaya even more, so I’ll be trying the izakaya soon! Have to say that spaghetti was my favorite dish! They had a limited wagyu roll that was divine, but I don’t think it’s on their regular menu anymore! Loved their seasonal cocktail too!
Waited a little long on our last sushi dish so we were feeling about finished by the time the last dish showed up—so timing-wise, not the worst, but a little off. Overall experience was really nice though! Absolutely love the ambiance and welcoming nature of the staff. Would definitely come again!
Good food, friendly service, appealing atmosphere/decor
Came here to celebrate a birthday and it was a wonderful experience! The food and presentation were impeccable. I was extremely impressed with our waiters knowledge on the details of every item. Their Monk drink with matcha is a must try!
Decent meal, but speed of service was compromised on a busy friday night. The initial orders were out relatively quick, but half way through the meal, during the long pause from the rest of the order, I went from hungry to not so hungry sipping air. Our server thought our order was complete, but I had to remind her I was still waiting for the rest of the sushi order. Food was good. I just hope they come out quicker.
The lamb chips were chewy and burned. The sushi rice VERY sweet. Beef appetizer was ok. Felt abandoned by waitress...
My boyfriend and I had been wanting to try Momotaro for awhile but were waiting for a special occasion. He wanted to go for his birthday and we were both blown away by the experience. The service was great and the waitress was very helpful when it came to navigating the menu. The food was above and beyond what we were expecting and was unique and delicious. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Outstanding. Food was amazing, service was amazing, ambience was amazing, everything was amazing. One of my favorite restaurants ever.
Best food in the city, shareable plates makes trying everything easy and the staff is incredible. 10/10 would go again
Momotaro is an excellent place to eat. The atmosphere is definitely set up for a date night or gathering. My boyfriend and I went at 6pm. We were seated upstairs from the main area and we had the entire place to ourselves until about 30 minutes in. The waiter was able to give us great recommendations. The stars for us was the Tako Su and the dessert. It is one of the best octupus we ever had; it was crispy on the outside and not overcooked. For dessert we had a deconstructed Ferrero Rocher; we were scraping the bowl. We will definitely be coming back to try other things on the menu.
Simply the best quality sushi in Chicago. So glad they are making it through the pandemic. It was great to see Melissa back! And the food was as good as ever!
Off the chain experience, service, presentation, food, the total package. Really found it helpful that our waiter provided us with the option of giving him a price-per-person, and he can gauge the menu options for us. Would come back 10/10 times.
Server was excellent. Front staff were amazing
This is our favorite place to go when we need a reminder on how food can create the most amazing sensations when masterfully crafted. Fortunately for our budget and unfortunately for our tummies, our memories are still sharp. Truly a gift to experience.
Exceptional food and service. Truly outstanding! We flew in from elsewhere and it was at the top of our list to try because of the ratings and reviews. It lived up to expectations and beyond.
While the main floor has ambience, the upstairs doesn’t have any. It’s like being seated in an attic.
While service was adequate, some appetizers and sushi was good. Rice bowl dishes were bland. The irritating thing is the restaurant tacked on a 4% health fee to pay for employees health insurance which is unpleasantly found on the while trying to a family dinner. I paid it and left as family time was more important for me at the time.
Any additional fees must be posted on the menu to be enforced, I find this in bad taste.
Knowledgeable staff. Recommend the dealer's choice option for drinks where the bartender will mix something based on your palate profile. You can't go wrong with any of the sushi options
From the time we walked in there was an attitude. It’s not what you say it’s how you say it. We were a little taken back by the first thing that was said to us “you have a two hour time limit”. Bad way to start things. The server also had an attitude like we were lucky to be there. The food was overpriced and not that good. We spend 150.00 and I had to eat when I got home. I was warned about this place and didn’t listen. Never again Momo.
