They brought the food faster than at McDonald’s. I felt like I was being rushed out of the place. The bill for four people was a bit over
$900. A little too much don’t you think?

Slow and impersonal service. We had to wait for 15mins to place order. Music was too loud. Food was okay.

This was my first visit, for my girlfriend’s birthday. The decor and atmosphere are incredible. The personalized menu for her was an awesome touch, she got a kick out of it. The Dragons Breath cocktail was very good. The food was excellent, from the Lamb to the Uni, to the desserts.

I have already recommended it in person to several people, as I was very impressed.

I had heard a lot about Momotaro and I was worried it wouldn’t live up to the hype but wow, what an amazing dining experience. My fiancé and I went for his birthday dinner and not only did every staff member wish him happy birthday but they printed a special menu for him and gave him a special dessert.

The food was superb. I started with the cold tofu and it was one of the best things I’ve eaten in years. The Chahan rice bowl with wagyu and poached egg was so delicious as were all the rolls and nigiri/sashimi we tried. Cocktails were excellent as was dessert.

The restaurant’s ambiance is trendy but not so much so that you feel intimidated. The noise level was fairly low for how crowded it was and the service was attentive and prompt.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves food and wants to try something new!

We were running late for our reservations but they accommodated us anyway. It was my son’s 18th birthday and they had special touches like putting a personalized greeting on the menu for him to bring home.
Since we had another event after and were in a hurry, they made recommendations that were all so delicious! Thank you, Momotaro, for helping make our evening a wonderful one!!

Amazing place and food, if you like matcha and citrus flavors you have to try the Monk’s journey cocktail ... Desserts are incredibly good!

Everything was DELICIOUS! Even though we had made a reservation, there was a bit of a wait, so we went to their bar downstairs to pass the time. Such an awesome atmosphere. I would recommend getting there early just to experience the bar downstairs! Our entire experience from start to finish was stellar. The service was prompt, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was welcoming. Could not recommend this place enough!

The ambiance here is pretty cool. The food is not really the star here. The food is good... not great. All the dishes recommended by our waiter were just ok (Shishito, Negima and Kohitsuji). The Cahan was very, very good.

We wanted to have an early meal after a dress rehearsal at Lyric and made a 5:00 pm reservation. It was snowing heavily and we were not dressed to be outdoors. We arrived at 4:55 pm. The staff refused to let us in and made us stand outside in the snowfall without even an umbrella. It was not just our party; there were a total of five people shivering outside in the snowfall while the staff pretended to ignore us. When they opened the door at 5:00, they acknowledged they knew we all were standing in the snow and said something rude about not opening until 5:00.
A restaurant that makes 5:00 pm reservations should not instruct staff to make patrons wait outside in the snowfall until 5:00 pm. Frankly, the staff’s conduct crossed the line of basic human decency. What kind of person watches women without hats or umbrellas shiver outside in the snow in February in Chicago. I have received better hospitality and courtesy at a 7-11. Certainly not the way I would expect a couple spending $500 for what essentially was a late lunch.

I went for the first time for my friend’s birthday and we weren’t disappointed. We got the Scallop motoyaki which was melt-in-your mouth good. We also ordered Nigiri/sashimi—the Hokkaido uni and Unagi one piece each. For the makimino sushi rolls, we got Una-NYU. The spaghetti was probably my favorite dish. For dessert we got the Chokoreto Espresso and the Momotaro Crunch. They also gave her a cake pop for her birthday which was cute.

Food was VERY, VERY good. I am not saying there was anything wrong in any way, just don’t like to throw around five stars everywhere. Service was very good. We had a reservation via Open Table but still had to wait about 20 minutes for our table to be ready. Not a huge deal. We really loved the Otoro tuna sashimi. That was our favorite food item.

Will definitely be back!

I went there on a recommendation of a friend. I live in Nashville and my friend here said it was just spectacular! They did not disappoint! The atmosphere is really great! I love the seating of the restaurant. Our server and all the food runners and bus boy's were on top of things as well. The food was phenomenal! I will definitely go back when I can and would recommend to and Chicagoan or visitor!

We had made reservations for restaurant week but came to find out that restaurant week was only being served downstairs. It was very unclear that the whole restaurant was not participating and our reservations did say izakaya at Momotaro, indicating we were suppose to be sat downstairs. We did not feel like anyone made any major efforts to try and fix the mistake and slightly felt blamed for making the “wrong” reservation. No one seemed to really care and effectively brushed off the issue.

Overall we really enjoyed the food and the environment but were disappointed that we weren’t able to participate in the event that we specifically made the reservations for.
