Momotaro Ratings and Reviews
We went here recently for a birthday dinner. We asked our waitress, Dandara, for recommendations as to what to eat. Everything she recommended was amazing, and it was the best sushi we have had in Chicago. You really cannot go wrong with anything you order here!
Absolutely wonderful experience. Everything from staff to food was exquisite. Our waiter Jordan ordered for the table and his selections were exceptional. I would 100% trust him to order for us again. He was extremely personable and made the whole night more of an "experience" than just a meal.
Ranya was our server and she was absolutely AMAZING! We ordered just about everything she recommeded and we were impressed with every plate! The atmosphere is amazing and the order in which they brought out the plates was perfect. A few outstanding favorites- Aje Ttaki from the cold section (the way this fish was seared was seriously so good!), Anko No Karaage from the hot section (this monkfish was mouth watering good!), Washugyu from the Kushi Yaki section (Y'all... [Texan over here] this wagyu beef was just... i can't even put into words how good it was. I'll leave it at that. GET IT.), Sushi Rolls- Momomaki (spicy octopus), Tuna Jaga (spicy tuna, this was my favorite, literally the best sushi roll in my life), and the Negi Hamachi (yellowtail, because who gets sushi without ordering yellowtail? SO GOOD!) Do note: Ranya did recommend the Age Dashi Tofu (fried tofu), however it was my least favorite plate. Good, but the other plates blew it out of the water. This place is a must in Chicago. I know for a fact when I visit again, I will definitely be eating dinner here. Thanks Ranya!!!!
Great looking room, with excellent booths that keep noise reasonable. Super fresh sushi and sashimi, best sake list in Chicago, plus good wine and cocktail selection.
Four of us shared a mix of seafood salad (outstanding), sushi, crab, steak, noodles and satays. All were excellent. Hostesses, servers, bussers and all employees were very friendly.
Completely met our (high) expectations
It was our sons 9th birthday and as soon as we walked in, we were spoiled from the greeters, servers to the bus boys! The food was great and our server was outstanding! Definitely going back! You like sushi? Try this place! Thank you for a wonderful experience!
The food is outstanding. Five of went there for our daughter's birthday. We ordered a LOT--maybe too much, as our waitress (who was very good) upped the number of skewers so we'd each have our own--don't think we needed five of everything. That and the price of drinks made this a very pricey dinner-- $450 for the five of us. And we did not appreciate that they stuck us upstairs. Not the same atmosphere at all. You'd think since they knew we had a celebration, they would have made sure we were in the main room But oh my, the food was fabulous. Especially loved the sukiyaki, the mushroom skewer, the maki and the spaghetti. Wonderful.
The restaurant wasn't able to get us our table until about 35-40 minutes after our reservation time. We were annoyed with the delay, but the staff did a wonderful job offering sincere apologies and some tasty complimentary bites. We very much appreciated their concern and care. We'll be back soon!
Dear Fellow Opentable members,
It was such a great experience! We were so impressed with the food and service.
Aside from the snotty host!
My wife and I sat at the sushi bar, we were very hungry and told our server, she put our 3 appetizer orders in and we were eating in less than 5 mins! The beacon wrapped eggs were the best.
The head sushi chef, watched and checked every order before it was served. Everything was as fresh and tasty as you could wish for.
It was expensive, $320.00 before the tip but it was one of the better sushi restaurants we have been to in long awhile.
We will return !
