MoMo's Ratings and Reviews
Great food, drinks and service until we were done eating our entrees. We had to wait over 50 minutes to have our empty dishes cleared. When the dessert menus came and the server didn't come back for another 20 minutes. Once dessert was finished, we had to ask 2 people for our server to bring our bill. He brought another diners bill and credit card. All in all, an hour long dinners took from 8:30pm to past 11:00pm. Being New Years Eve, we still left a very generous tip, but any other time, 10% would have been over tipping. Prices were reasonable for what you get. Foo impressed, yet the service was disappointing.
The food was ok...not exceptional or even very good. The portion sizes were good. I had the Pasta Bolognese and found the sauce very plain/unremarkable. A friend had the Linguine with Clams and after taking out the clams from the shells she wondered where her dish went (there wasn't much pasta). She said it tasted good, though.
It was quite noisy at lunchtime, too, so hearing each other across the table was difficult.
I had always wanted to try this restaurant as I pass it alot on my way home. I researched it and found that it had a very large menu. That actually concerned me as I worried with so many items, how many could they do well? Anyway, we tried it for brunch on a Saturday (no game) and it was great. We liked the variety and the food was very good. I recommend it. The place is also very cozy and warm inside. It is not a 5 star restaurant, but a very nice place to visit especially since it gives you quite a variety of things to choose from. I recommend it.
We had dinner reservations after a work Christmas party. We changed the dinner reservations from 6 people to 20. In the end 40 folks attended and the staff couldn't have nice in accommodating our group. The service was excellent, the food delicious and the wine superb.
While my overall review this time for Momos is not so great I still think it is a good spot in the neighborhood and usually everything is spot on. Unfortunately this time we hit the holiday luncheon crowd and it took one hour to receive our orders. Luckily when I complained they made it all good so I can't really ding them for a one time mishap.
I have frequently dined at MoMo's prior to a baseball game and have found the food and service surprisingly good considering the pre-game crush and chaos. My only complaint has been the noise level. My wife and I dined here on a wet autumn night recently. The food was again consistently good, and we could actually hear each other talk.
Quite by accident, and because I arrived a half-hour before my buddy who was joining me for lunch, I parked myself at the bar to catch that final quarter of the latest 49ers' debacle and grab a Stella. I'm glad i did. Not only did i have a great beer and a dozen perfect oysters, but i had a great conversation with the bartender, Gil, who turned my visit at MoMo's into more than just a drink and a meal. Awesome...in every respect...except, of course, another loss by the '9ers (can you do something about that, please? ;-) Thanks! ~steveT
I usually love Momo's. This time it was just OK. Our waiter did recommend excellent wine, but he was not listening. I have food allergies, I am usually their precise about my order. He did not listen and brought me other things that I could not eat on my plate. Other diners with me were not crazy about their choices also. We asked for more coffee and he responded that he will be right back and never came back. Momo's was not busy, so that was not his excuse. But I do like this restaurant because most of the time besides Friday night, it has been excellent.
Poor service. Mediocre food. One of our entrees for a table of 5 was brought to the wrong table. The other 4 entrees were brought to the table together without the fifth. They never explained why the last order was so late. Instead, they said that they were doing something different for my scallops. All of our meals got cold while waiting. Finally, I had to let the waiter know that our food was unacceptably cold because of the long wait for the last plate of food. Turns out they weren't honest enough to tell us about their mistake until I called him on it. We had 2.5 hours to enjoy a leisurely meal. In the end, we were late for our show. The food was salty and/ or over seasoned. I wish it was better than this, as it was a special occasion.
service was really poor. We had a party of 3 for a business lunch. Two people has appetizers. Server delayed with the entrees, as the result lunch stretched to 2 hours, everybody were late to the offices, lost time at work, our third person had to wait more than hour for his food, and we ha to skip on coffee. Also, waited for a vallet person more than 15 min.
The food was great & the chef made an exceptional appetizer for us that wasn't on the menu because it was our Anniversary. The service was exceptional. The menu could use some more unusual items in the Appetizer & Salad section. The salads are too standard & so are the appetizers except for seafood lovers. It would be good to have an unusual veggie & chicken appetizer. The Menu also needs a more polished look.
I took my girlfriend there for a birthday brunch after a tour of the Giants ballpark across the street. The Giants are a class act, and MoMo's ambiance matches perfectly. The staff was awesome in finding the perfect table, attentive but not intrusive during our meal, sweet about getting a candle into our dessert (strawberry sorbet, divine). My only disappointment was with some of the food: the Eggs Benedict and the Salmon on flat bread; both were done in a non-traditional manner, and while I applaud adventurous cooking, I thought they missed the mark. The eggs that came with the salmon were perfectly prepared, however, and the coffee was excellent. I was there on a Saturday after 2 pm, missing the Cavalia crowd, so it was unusually quiet.
Momo's makes the best Bloody Mary. Very spicy. The Cesar Salad was ridiculously huge for a starter and it was a bit underdressed. My NY Steak was great, cooked exactly as I ordered it.
I valet parked and paid $13 to the valet when he took the car. After dinner the valet was gone for the night and we had to walk to the car. So much for valet service.
I do like Momo's so yes I will go back.
It was a great evening. Hostess Shayna was friendly and helpful. Spent a little time in the bar during martini hour. Our waiter Josh was attentive and helpful with the menu. Food and service were right on. Overall a great evening. Will recommend the place to friends and will definitely return.
