Why they're an Icon

From the OpenTable editors: The original restaurant that brought celebrity chef David Chang to fame, Momofuku Noodle Bar is still going strong with locations in the East Village and Columbus Circle. Look for the sleek glass exterior and pull up a stool in the warm wood interior for ramen noodles, steamed buns, and soft serve. After more than 20 years, half a dozen James Beard wins and nominations, and a Michelin Bib Gourmand, it’s still a noodle icon.

The service was attentive and good. The food was just alright for me. I expected better. I wish they had a spicy ramen option on their menu.

Party of 8 (4 teens, 4 adults) and we ordered ginger scallion noodles (yummy), pickles ( small portion for $15 but tasty), potatoes (crispy with a great sauce) and pork belly bao (best appetizer by far) to start. The cocktails and yuzu lemonade went down easy on a warm day. The star of the meal was the fried chickens: 1 Southern buttermilk and the other sticky Korean. Served with scallion pancakes, 4 sauces, bao buns and vegetable fixings for sandwiches, we ate like royalty. Leave room for the soft serve mango ice cream! Bill came to $400+ tip, and we had leftovers to look forward to. Service was good without being aggressive, decor is rather minimalist and the noise was pretty low. Would come back in a heartbeat.

We have been to all three locations. We were a bit hesitant going to this location to be honest but it was beyond our expectations. The food selection was great and the service was perfect. Highly suggest making a reservation and going. Beef Noodles was our favorite but everything was amazing!

They denied our reservation because we were 5 minutes late (reservation was 21:45 and we arrived 21:50) on a city that has so much traffic. I asked politely the guy to serve us because I came all the way from Greece and Momofuku was supposed to be one of the highlights for me and he didn't care at all. What a shame...

Loved the new menu. More variety and the size of the dishes appeals to me. You can choose the usual ramen and buns but can also do small bites and the new mains. We all loved the off menu tuna/foie toast with pickled onions and kumquats. So good! Water was refilled even though the place was packed and busy. Didn't go unnoticed. The servers are paying attention and that is awesome! Always great to dine here not just because of the value of the food, but because of the staff! We will be back!
