Due to its tumultuous history under different regimes, names and occupations, Moldova has a rich cultural tapestry, the cuisine being a main component of the transition. With influences from its neighbors: Romania and Ukraine, a little from Turkey and Bulgaria, some from Russia and even the Mediterranean countries, Moldovan cuisine offers a variety of tastes and flavors.
With spices, herbs and various types of produce and meats, our dishes combine these flavors to create real masterpieces, giving an incredible result for a well-balanced meal.

I love the eggplant just like one made by my Romanian grandmother earlier in this century.
The food is prepared well and there are vegan and gf choices. This is a nice place to go for a bit of authentic creative cuisine.
Great and delicious European style food .
Brand new facility , friendly staff.
We really enjoyed our first visit to Moldova which features unusual and tasty East European food. The food was generally very good, the young server was earnest and very helpful, and the proprietor very friendly. Not every dish was great, but all were good and we really loved the Placinta (traditional pie) with cheese as an appetizer. The Friptura (roasted lamb ) was incredibly tender, and the lamb kebabs (ground lamb) were absolutely delicious. They came with amazing pan-fried potatoes. Everybody at the table wanted more of those. Moldovan red wine was very good too, although not cheap.
The place is a large storefront that looks to have been recently expanded, with high ceilings. The tables are well spaced and the place lacks any real "buzz," but the Saturday night we were there a man played a keyboard and sang American songs like Walking in Memphis. A little incongruous but he was pretty good! Our young server helped guide us to the most authentic and interesting dishes -- very helpful. This is a real gem -- not sure why it isn't packed all the time. We plan to return soon!!
Delicious authentic food combined with a very nice atmosphere
If you like Eastern European food you will enjoy Moldova!
Authentic Rumanian( Moldova was part of Rumania before) food.
The food and service were amazing! I love that you can try something new with their authentic dishes and feel like you’re part of their family! Highly recommended!!
Good but overpriced.
There was one waitress and she seemed overworked or overwhelmed, probably a bit inexperienced. The food was too salty. Smaller portions and lower price would be better. The ambience was good but the music got a bit tiring, with the same songs or similar songs cycling over and over.
The food is always fresh and wildly delicious. I could eat their Salată ȚArănească on a daily basis.
Wanted to try a new place with family. Lovely place.
we always injoy the ambience and the food
the new part of the restaurant looks very nice, but we ate in the original dining room due to so few people
we felt it was cozier in the old part
we hope the restaurant gets busier-it is really good
Another great dining experience at Moldova. We enjoy our meals here.
The food was great!
I do have a comment on the service.
I was surprised when after we had paid for dinner and service the waitress came back and asked us why we did not give her the tip that she expected. We did tip her fairly and were very surprised by the question. We increased our tip but it definitely left us with uncomfortable feeling. I know the service staff rely on the tips but it is plain rude and unprofessional to be asking for increase of tips. I think the management of this restaurant needs to educated the staff about what is appropriate.
Moldova is a new restaurant that offers a great variety of food from Moldova which I would describe best as Eastern European inspired. Great wines, very friendly and helpful staff and a nice atmosphere.
Great place with interesting, well-prepared food. Very nice service.
This was a great find. I am looking forward to going back there to try the desserts!
What a lovely place. Food is fantastic. Very authentic and delicious. Try the lamb, it is their best dish.
We had a large group of nine for dinner. Everyone enjoyed the great Moldovan food! We really enjoyed the tender lamb as part of the entree special. The homemade noodles were also outstanding!
They were very friendly and gave us excellent service. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
Delicious food in a local neighbourhood spot. Very friendly service. Ideal for sharing between friends.
Last minute find and a pleasant surprise. Waitress very helpful in making recommendations on food to try as it was our first experience with food from this specific region. Good comfort food with wine also from the region. Will go back.
We appreciated the attention from the waitress to explain the dishes and the wines. We really enjoyed all our choices and very much appreciated the quiet atmosphere. It is a lovely and special neighborhood restaurant.
By far one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time! My son spent the summer in Moldova and we drove 2 1/2 hours so he could show me the cuisine he experienced. The waitress was kind and very nice. The food was outstanding! Will make the trip again...and bring more people!!!
Delicious and authentic Moldovan
This is a family-operated neighborhood restaurant serving real food - old-country style. Or so it seemed to my brother and me based on childhood recollections of our Grandmother's cooking. You will absolutely not leave hungry, nor will you be bored by the same-old. Well executed takes on many items you'll not find elsewhere around Boston. That said, this is a very simple store-front environment. Drinks are available, but not a strength.
Amazing food and awesome service . The potato pie is a must-have. Can’t wait to go back , we found a new spot for a date night
We just wish there was more vegetarian options
Very good Moldavian 🇲🇩 food restaurant in Newton. The creations are very unique. Try the “pie” as an appetizer! All of the dishes we had were delicious, including the rice & meat filled grape leaves & cabbage (like Polish). Try the delicious crepes filled with cherries for dessert! This is a cute place!!
I was very impressed with the food and the service. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The cabbage pie, and meat sampler (lamb, sarmale and pork) were delicious. The crepe desserts were also fabulous, particularly the raisin and sweet cheese one which is served warm with sour cream. I would definitely go back to try more things trim the menu.
Good food cooked from fresh products. We tried Sarmale - traditional Soviet "golubtzy" and they were amazing. Wine selection was also great. I recommend Negru de Purcari we tried, fantastic red full body wine. Cușma lui Guguță dessert was delicious. I discount one star due to poor management. Service was very slow and chaotic because there was only one girl who tried hard to serve all customers in the almost full restaurant.
We had an 8:45 reservation from Open Table not knowing that the restaurant closes at 9. We ordered an appetizer, drinks, and the main course. After ordering the appetizer we were told it wasn’t available. We waited for around 20 minutes for our drinks and when we asked where’s they were they told they were coming. Then they brought all dishes and our drinks out at once. The food was good but the eggplant appetizer was provided without a way to eat it (they forgot the bread for it). We asked about dessert and the waitress said the kitchen is closed and we can’t have dessert. We expressed disappointment about our experience and the waitress shrugged and said the restaurant closes at 9. Our point was that they shouldn’t allow for 8:45 reservations if they can’t serve the patrons at that time. Even though the food was good it was not worth the poor service.
Food was very good! Place is modern but you get the feel of the culture. Worth trying out! Ordered the roasted pork with polenta. It was excellent. Also ordered the sour cherries and crepe dessert! Super yummy!
Terrific food. Pleasant staff.
I’ve ordered lamb kebab and it was super salty, service was great.
A really worthwhile experience; will definitely repeat. Service is "European" (a bit slow), so don't be in a rush. On the other hand, it's nice to let things slow down. Everything ordered was somewhere from enjoyable to excellent; Moldovan wines were definitely quite good and relatively reasonably priced relative to the Boston-area standard.
Excellent, unusual food. Charming, informative servers, although it took a little too long for glasses of wine to arrive. The wines were quite good and reasonably priced, like the food.
The level of the food is higher than the level of the decor. We thought that simple curtains in the front window and removing the words of the restaurant’s slogan from the wall decoration would make the place more elegant.
The food was great, authentic, very tasty. Great, friendly service.
My husband and I love the simplicity of Moldovan cuisine. We are so tired of local restaurants that are over salted and full of fat and calories. This food is so simple, delicious, and fresh! We keep this restaurant in our rotation for whenever we are looking for something different.
Everything was tasty but was way too salty! Especially the lamb stew.
What a great find this place is. We’d never had Moldovan food. The cheese pie (placinta cu brinzas verdeata) and pork stew (friptura de porc) were outstanding. We thought we’d ordered the kenab de miel (lamb kebabs) but the waitress delivered the mititei moldovenesti (minced beef and pork rolls). These were very good. The spicy red sauce enhances the flavor. The polenta was tasty and creamy. The country salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and feta was fresh but needed salt. Staff very friendly but make sure to ask the waitress to read back the order. Our waitress didn’t hear us order the pork stew so it came later after we reminded her - and she brought the wrong dish prior to that. We will definitely come back here. Make sure to allow enough time to park. This is a residential area and side streets are not very accommodating.
The food was outstanding. Nice interior space. Service was slow considering the time of day and the small number of customers
