Moku Kitchen is a chef-driven concept that brings Hawaii’s rich upcountry farming and ranching heritage to downtown Honolulu’s urban lifestyle. The upcountry way of life echoes a simpler time where food was locally-sourced and cooked over an open fire on the ranch. At Moku, we like to keep things simple and will serve Chef Peter Merriman’s twist on upcountry specials from our lively rotisserie oven.
Named after the Hawaiian word for “island”, Moku will be a gathering spot where anyone from elite foodies, families, or people seeking an authentic taste of Hawaii can swap stories and relax with an ice-cold draft beer, a carafe of wine, and an amazing meal. Everyone will feel a sense of home at Moku Kitchen.

John our host & B our server were just superb. With the timing of everything, the restaurant was quiet and the quality of service and the high quality of food went so well hand in hand even with a last minute reservation. So thankful :)
Our server was fantastic! She was really helpful with my food sensitivities and made it happen. Great children’s selection and happy hour!
Kelsie was awesome!
Amazing. Every bite and sip were better than the next.
I’ve been to Mokus several times and the food is good. My lunch date and I both ate the ahi salad. It was good....the ahi was a bit chunky and the salad was tossed with dressing and a bit heavy for me.
The atmosphere is pleasant.
We made reservations through OpenTable (for their first seating, it was our first time at this restaurant) and were seated in a booth away from most of the others who appeared to mainly be 'walk-ins'. While menu seems limited, we all thoroughly enjoyed our food ~ very tasty! We'll be back for sure! (Parking currently costs $3 at the pre-pay kiosk).
Great dinner as usual.
Lucked out and got Kelsie as our server. She the best!
Friendly, upbeat and truly service oriented. A real keeper
It was super noisy inside so we sat outside, even though it was a bit drizzly. No regrets. Great night! Uniqu and delicious mai tai!
Fish Tacos and Haupia pie exceptional!
Our waiter John was very attentive and made great recommendations!
Service was excellent! Our waiter was funny & helpful. We appreciate that he labeled our leftover containers & placed foil under the food to prevent the container bottoms from getting soggy. Both of our dishes were a bit on the salty side, even the starches, but a side order of delicious cornbread helped offset that. As always, love the strawberry pie and the coconut lemonade was worth returning for.
Always a wonderful time at Moku!
Our waiter was pleasant but I find it’s definitely hard for either the waiter or the kitchen to get a gluten free order right. After ordering a salad gluten and dairy free it showed up with bread on it. I’m also not sure if the kitchen can truly do gluten free even though the waiter says ok.
Moku kitchen is a casual and fun place to meet with friends. Their happy hour (half price small plates, $10 pizzas and $2 off many drinks) is yummy and a great value. Their regular prices are on the high side. Service is quite slow. It is very loud in their. Some more soft items in the restaurant would help to absorb the noise, but it’s bearable. We will definitely return for happy hour.
We came in at our reserved time but our table was not ready. We were seated outside while it was drizzling when we could have seated inside.
Another great evening at Moku Kichen. Recommended!
We wish our server informed us about adding fries for $2.00 to our sandwiches that we ordered instead of having us purchase a side order of fries.
the worst food we’ve ever had. the worst ambiance. don’t go!!!! so loud! staff was nice but doesn’t make up for the food!
Great consistent Merriman quality and a decent selection of wines. Prices are similar to Merriman’s or Monkeypod, but it’s nice to see some different items on the menu compared to the other two restaurants.
Service was great and food came out quickly despite the place being packed. Noise level was on the high side, so much so that you could not hear the background music at all. If you want a quieter dining experience, try outside seating.
Our waiter B was great!
Food always prepared fresh and yummy.
Fresh ingredients, flavorably prepared. Too spicy for a few in our group; need to improve kim chee recipe (side to Bahn Mi).
Overall food was good. Chicken wings were not hot and pretty chewy. Fries were awesome. We have been two or three times before and food was better.
Birthday party for adults with 10 people was serviced by Hoku. She was attentive and catered to our group. What a great experience. Food was awesome as well as quality drinks. Seared ahi dinner for breakfast was amazing.
Ordered the ravioli appetizer which was really good. Hubby ordered the fish tacos which was okay. Also ordered the duck tacos which was not that great in my opinion. There were some hard pieces of fat that I had to spit out. Would not order that again. Son had the kids pizza which he enjoyed. I had a piece and thought it was pretty good. Liked that they had a pretty decent kids menu.
Great food and great service. My only complaint was that we probably had to wait between 15 to 20 minutes after our reservation time. Other than that, service was and food was delicious. We will definitely coming back.
Returned after two years and was disappointed at the quality of food. Everything was over salted, even the salads. We had eaten here twice before on a previous vacation. Service was still attentive, and it’s a fun atmosphere, but up to the usual quality of a Merriman restaurant.
Just a mom & son date night. Food and service were both excellent. Save room for the strawberry pie.
My first time with a group of friends. We’re in the 50-60 age bracket. The food was Awesome and service excellent!! Very comfortable. Restaurant paid for parking—how cool is that??!!!’n. We’ll return!!
I always enjoy eating here, but the noise level is too high inside for pleasant conversation. Outside tables are better if you want to be able to hear/talk with your companions.
A great casual restaurant with something for everyone to eat. Our family of five enjoyed our dinner here after touring Pearl Harbor. Moku is a lively place with great food choices. Would recommend!
Food & Service was EXCELLENT! Loved it.
Always a pleasure to dine in don’t do take out they mess up all the time.
No complaints; great food, good service, good ambience.
Our server, Julius, was excellent. I liked the green beans with mac nuts. The bacon burger was excellent. Our group had a great lunch!
Food was unremarkable. We had the brussel sprouts, corn chowder, fish taco, duck taco, and kahlua pork pizza. The taco dishes were lacking something on the plate-sma
