Moku Kitchen is a chef-driven concept that brings Hawaii’s rich upcountry farming and ranching heritage to downtown Honolulu’s urban lifestyle. The upcountry way of life echoes a simpler time where food was locally-sourced and cooked over an open fire on the ranch. At Moku, we like to keep things simple and will serve Chef Peter Merriman’s twist on upcountry specials from our lively rotisserie oven.
Named after the Hawaiian word for “island”, Moku will be a gathering spot where anyone from elite foodies, families, or people seeking an authentic taste of Hawaii can swap stories and relax with an ice-cold draft beer, a carafe of wine, and an amazing meal. Everyone will feel a sense of home at Moku Kitchen.
Great food, good service! I would recommend to family and friends.
Overall food and service as expected. Only thing that could have been improved were the French fries served with the battered fish. Fries were Luke warm and soggy
We have been big fans over the years and the food has been good but this time things were different. The food was off. I don’t know if it’s a new chef or a substitute chef but the quality was not on point the night we were there. The Fish Tacos had mayonnaise in them, so much that it was all I could taste. A very western take on them and not too Asian. The duck tacos used to be our favorites but this night they just seemed flavorless.
The pot stickers were also very average, the dough to thick and the texture not crispy enough.
Sorry it was an off night for us.and the chef.
Food and service was exceptional.
When they opened this restaurant, taste was much better. Unfortunately, almost all foods which use soy sauce kind of things were so salty. I hope they have quality control department. Staffs are so kind as usual. Parking has problems. In front of restaurant’s parking is always clouded. Parking structure design is so bad and very narrow, so I recommend to park other place.
Good service. Good choices of food which were excellently prepared.
It was really good. Thought the ahi special I had was a little heavy on the salt. Other than that, everything was delicious and our server was fantastic.
The service was extremely slow. Drinks took forever. Fries were cold and overcooked, and the portion of the special could have passed for an appetizer. Overall disappointed and walked away wondering why we chose to eat there again.
Great for a large group.
Very good food and service.
Amazing chicken meal! Please keep this on the menu! Much needed addition and it is delicious!
Consistent with food and service. Purty good good with fun ambience
The Mai Tai‘s were fabulous (as always), the prime rib was tasty (albeit a very large portion), but the ahi tacos were too dry to enjoy. Enjoyed our meal at Monkey Pod much more.
Food and service were very good.
Although I already spoke to the manager, I’d like to reiterate the issue of having chairs in the hallway by the bathrooms. Although I can certainly understand why you have them, the chair I banged into and cut my leg on was right as you make the turn into the hallway so not good placement. Also I would paint them a color you can see as going into the hallway is quite dark.
Note: when I tripped a lady waiting for the restroom to be free said “she too” tripped on the chair. (( so I moved it)
Anyway, all meant as constructive criticism (coming from a retired hotel/restaurant guy)
Delicious! Can't wait to come again! The quinoa salad and the specials made the perfect business lunch!
Great service and enjoyable ambiance, totally bummed they had run out of their delish corn bread although it was still early on in the day. Great time!
Always great food and great service.
This was my third visit to Moku Kitchen and I brought my five friends.
Unfortunately, it was very warm and noisy this time.
Fortunately, the waiter was excellent.
Great service as always and the business guests loved the food so much.
It was fantastic! Our team had a wonderful meal and time together!
Food is good
Location is known and cool
Associates are nice, but they cannot answer they don't have way to help you to plug in if they want to keep high level restaurant!
As an observation, I noticed that the temperature control is sub-par here. Often times, it's really stuffy inside the restaurant--it isn't comfortable. I'm hoping they get this fixed because it can be rather uncomfortable with the amount of people that are seated inside. Besides that, it's still a great place in Salt.
Great happy hour!
Mahalos for the great service!
It was okay. The food wasn't as good as before and it's really loud. They forgot our appatizers and the food took a while to come out but they were nice and comped us for that. Taste wise the fries were not good and the fish was over cooked. The mushroom pizza was okay. I think the best thing we had was the green beans that was tasty.
This place always amazes us with there fresh ingredients and perfectly prepared food. The specialty cocktails are great and they have one of the best draft beer tap lists on the island. Whether it’s for pau hana or a special evening, this is the place.
Of the 3 Merriman eateries, this is our favorite, based on the menu. We enjoyed everything we ordered- the squash ravioli, bahn mi sandwich, and blackened ahi salad. So happy we are planning our next visit.
Great food and excellent cocktails. Will continue visiting Moku kitchen.
Great food and ambiance
Good service ! Good food ! I would love to come back .
We sat outside because inside the restaurant is too noisy. Our server Jensen was outstanding. She timed our drinks and dinner perfectly and was very attentive. She checked to make sure everything was alright periodically so that we did not have to look for her to ask for anything. We're early diners and appreciate the prompt service so that we can relax and get home early. We live a block away so Mokus is very convenient.
Good food, cool atmosphere. Will definitely go back
I have been to Moku before for both lunch and dinner. It has always been great! Our dinner last night was also fantastic! We had a large group of 10 but the service was wonderful. The food as always was amazing. My only complaint is that it is pretty loud in there.
Food was awesome!
Great service, every item we ordered was very good and unique. Acoustics were the main problem. A bit too loud for us on a date type night early evening Tuesday. But I would go back for sure.
We stopped for a quick bite and since it was our anniversary they gave us a glass of champagne to share which was thoughtful. The food is consistently great and there good accommodating food sensitivities. The also have a good children’s selection and happy hour.
Our server was exceptional an all on the team great, mahalo for helping us celebrate very well a special occasion with visiting family.
