About
Moku Kitchen is a chef-driven concept that brings Hawaii’s rich upcountry farming and ranching heritage to downtown Honolulu’s urban lifestyle. The upcountry way of life echoes a simpler time where food was locally-sourced and cooked over an open fire on the ranch. At Moku, we like to keep things simple and will serve Chef Peter Merriman’s twist on upcountry specials from our lively rotisserie oven.
Named after the Hawaiian word for “island”, Moku will be a gathering spot where anyone from elite foodies, families, or people seeking an authentic taste of Hawaii can swap stories and relax with an ice-cold draft beer, a carafe of wine, and an amazing meal. Everyone will feel a sense of home at Moku Kitchen.
Happy Hour: 3:00pm - 5:30pm & 10pm to 11pm
Dinner: 4:30pm - 11:00pm
Food was awesome and great service. Our waitress had good recommendations on what to irder
Great place to reunite with friends!
There are limited vegetarian choices but whatever on the Menu was excellent - especially the Coconut Corn Chowder. We ordered the Beans and the Garlic fries from the appetizers and the Veggie platter and the Chowder. Was enough to fill us up with no room for desert.
Service was great! But I did wish they sat us indoors. Weather on Valentine’s Day was cold and windy.
We celebrated not only Valentine's Day, but also a birthday. The server was very accommodating. When someone in our group ordered a dish and it was served cold, they took it back and made a fresh hot plate. Moku is a nice neighborhood place, not too expensive, but consistent.
Great service! Ran out of first choice for entree but second choice was delish
Too loud - causes the waiter to get the drink order wrong. That drink was sent back.
One fish dish can out more done than requested.
Pastrami Dip is Super Ono (Good). Broke the Mouth Kine (Your mouth with that you)
Drinks: Lychee Hoo, Bounce Back Cold Brew coffee; Appetizers:oven roasted wings, coconut corn chowder and the Waipoli greens; Entree: fillet mignon and added Brussels Sprouts. Dessert: Lemon Meyer sorbet and Haupia/ sweet potato pie.
My first time here and I wanted to try a variety of dishes. My recommendations: the coconut corn chowder, Waipoli greens and desserts.
It’s an open restaurant with lots of glass and wood with nothing to absorb the loud music and chatter. The restaurant is very busy. We arrived at 7:45 and stayed until 10pm. Service was very good.
Their menu looks to be either seasonal or based on available ingredients because I did not see items which were pictured online.
I’m visiting the island so for my next trip which may be in 2 months, I will return to sample more of their entrees
Awesome place and Bartenders Mo and Jarvid are not only very professional but they are absolutely the best! Come in relax and enjoy the food, drinks and show!
Food was great, service quick, waiter was friendly
Always great!
Very good meal-especially the pie!
We had a wonderful experience and will return again.
Love the ambiance and the service! We had a great time.
The food was overpriced and portions were very small. The pies are worth a trip but I do not recommend anything else. The food is okay at most. Service is quick. Atmosphere is also very loud.
Green beans. Yum
Mary Beth excellent server. And excellent Cabernet Sauvignon suggestion by Mary Beth.
We always enjoy the Merriman Chain of restaurants and this place did not disappoint. We will be back.
Really nice evening, we were able to sit on the outside area. The view is not great but the food and service make up for it.
Great food and service was superb! Really liked the fish sandwich and side of regular fries. The ketchup was good, try it!
We enjoyed the menu choices and quality of our meals. Friendly and efficient server!
Enjoyed our time and meal outdoors. Our server was excellent.
We had a reservation at 7:15p. When we arrived on time, we were told wait. We stood by the reception area for about 20 min, and finally check with them again. It seems that they had forgotten about us. We were finally seated, and the rest of the evening was within incident. We ordered pizza, ravioli, and a salad. The pizza arrived before, and the salad and ravioli after we were half way through the pizza. It would have been good if all the food had arrived together. The food was tasty, and the service adequate.
The food was really great and the server helpful especially with the kids. It was a nice place for us to go out For our anniversary but still feel like it was appropriate for the little kids to be there
Food was very good, portions were nice but if you’re a big eater you’ll need two entrees. Deserts were amazing , strawberry pie was 5star.... not what I expected, much better like a key lime pie. The music had a good volume level but the place in general was very loud..my only complaint. We were there on a Friday evening.
Noise level is much too loud for my taste (sound seems enhanced rather than tampered). Food is good overall, but portions are on small side. Sandwiches have no side (have to order separately). These items make the pricing higher.
Very load but great food and good fun:)
Waiter was excellent. Informative and knowledgeable. Mushroom Pizza excellent. Good value drinks, both alcohol and non-alcohol......French fries only complaint average at best. Ahi poke good quality....
Entertainment was good but, frankly nobody seemed to pay attention to them. If there was no entertainment it would be a better atmosphere. Conversations compete with the band.
Very loud. Service poor. Food just ok nothing special
Moku is a great spot in SALT. A few more spots have opened up and they are different types of food at different price points. We've been regulars at MOKU since day one, but with so many other places in SALT now, we have to try them all! Still, we always come back to MOKU because we usually get great service and the food is consistent. BTW, we tried the banana pie for the first time and it was amazing. Usually overshadowed by their famous strawberry pie, the banana is my new favorite.
Nice dinner in a lovely atmosphere! Menu a little slim, but food was good.
We made reservations for happy hour and I think that’s one of the best ways to enjoy Mokus. It’s less noisy and the food is normally priced (half off pupus). Our server was great, very attentive and thorough. He let us know when it was “last call” for happy hour. Overall it’s a bit greasy but tasty. Not a weekly event.
We have not enjoyed our last few visits. The food is late in coming out to the table and it’s cold. Our pizza was over cooked and cold. The service starts out fine and then drops off until we have to flag someone down. I am hoping that they can get their issues resolved as it was a favorite of ours.
Excellent fish sandwich added avocado and jalapeños
This was our second visit to Moku and it was again, enjoyable. Our server was very friendly and helpful in accommodating our vegan, plant-based diet. Lots on the menu could be made vegan if you inquire. Wines on tap as well! Yes, please.
Great food, average service. Recommend the Straw Pie, Hamakua mushroom pizza.
Stopped in for dinner and drinks before a show. Friendly staff, comfy seating, cozy, lively atmosphere. Small plates were tasty, light and just right. Cocktails were superb!
Amazing meal, excellent service
The duck tacos was pitiful. If I bought roast duck from China town and a bag of corn tortillas along with a bought sauce, I would have had a much better meal. The meal I received was definitely not worth the price. Also the duck was over cooked and dry.
