Amazing experience! Had the 18 piece omakase and it is such a bargain for the quality of fish. BYOB is a bonus! Will definitely be back.
Came with a group of 3 for the $75 15-course omakase. Sushi was simple and straightforward, but very! fresh and excellent quality. (fatty tuna, we will meet again) Servers were kind and chefs accommodated generously for a mild shellfish allergy. Miso soup was average (needed more miso and should've had silken tofu) and dessert was cute, but nothing special. I'm aware this place hasn't been open long, so I think those are improvements that can be made. The sushi is worth it - I recommend!
Best experience I’ve had at a nigiri establishment. Chef was very attentive, service was great. Came in with a large party and everyone enjoyed their experience.
The 18 course omakase was great. The fish was delicious and fresh. Remember it is byob so make sure to bring some sake. The price was very reasonable.
Such an awesome new spot. The sushi was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend getting the $100 18 course omakase. The crispy rice was out of this world. Everything was fresh. They are also BYOB right now which was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend.
Eating here about once a week since October, I've never had anything but a wonderful meal.
I took my girlfriend for her birthday here. We have a visited quite a few omakase places in NYC around this price point and wanted to try something new. It's a nice new restaurant with bright lighting. The hostess was really warm and welcoming and sat us down in a quiet corner. It was a little strange however as they had multiple waiters serve our table. I overheard conversations of waiters with customers that they were just college students so the experience isn't really curated from the waiter's end. I'm not sure if it was to try and make us feel like we are well attended. It's not a very large restaurant with maybe 10 tables and a sushi bar but I counted around 6-8 waiters? It makes the experience a bit unorganized as we had different waiters come ask for our orders multiple times when we had already ordered.
We chose the 13 piece omakase w/ 1 miso + 1 dessert. We were offered green tea but it was definitely oversteeped and pretty bitter. Also in any omakase experience, I believe the restaurant should provide pickled ginger when they serve the omakase which they did not. The omakase itself was pretty good for the most part! There was one piece that was a bombshell of wasabi roe in your mouth with fresh scallop which really overpowered the delicious sweet scallop. The uni is usually the star of the show and it was not as fresh as expected. Also this place does not serve wagyu as part of the 13 piece menu as a heads up.
All in all, it was an okay experience. Mojo in NYC still tops it for me at this price point.
Amazing host amazing team!
Absolutely wonderful dining experience. The servers were wonderful and demonstrate great care with everything. Fish was fresh and the sushi was perfectly sized and created.
Would definitely recommend Moko! We live in the neighborhood and have been wanting to come for a while now. The fish was far more fresh than any sushi I’ve had recently, being that it is all flown in from Japan. My favorite was the Botan Ebi Shrimp and the homemade ice cream. 10/10
Friendly staff. Good ambiance. Fresh and delicious fish. Well priced. BYOB
Fantastic !!!! 18 course omakase was outstanding, service was incredible, highly recommend!
2nd time coming here and it’s just as good as the first. some of the freshest sushi around for sure and I’ve been to every Omakase spot in the area as well as some michelin rated. Overall a really good value for $75
We’re incredibly sorry about your experience and would like to make it up to you. We would like to offer you a comped meal for you and a guest. We’re a brand new restaurant only 3 weeks old and we’re still hiring more experienced staff to accommodate the extremely busy Friday and Saturday nights.
Updating my review as I recently had a great experience. They have outgrown their growing pains.
The service was sloppy and slow. We didn’t even get all the courses! The fish was fine but nothing special. Great idea but didn’t deliver.
We’re really sorry about your experience last night and would like to make it up to you. Please contact us so we can make it right. We’re a brand new restaurant only 3 weeks old and we’re still hiring more experienced staff to accommodate the extremely busy Friday and Saturday nights.
Outstanding food. From soup to dessert, with the nigiri the highlight. Unbelievably reasonable price for the quality of the fish. A wonderful assortment. The order of presentation was brilliant. Lighter to to heavier, with lovely asides like squid & crab, the pace of service was relaxed: exactly what a great omakase requires.
Go now before reservations become a hot commodity.
Their service and food both need to be improved. Sushi chef wore the same glove to take away shrimp tails from different guests plates and then put new sushi on our plates. Also the counter seems too high for a sushi omakase experience.
Randomly found Moko on open table looking for a local sushi place - it was really exceptional and a unique experience. It was a last-minute birthday dinner and they were so lovely and kind. We ordered off the menu (vs omokase) and the individual pieces were prepared with the same creativity and care. This is a true little gem, not your typical sushi place. We will absolutely be returning.
Came here for a date night and got the 18 course Omakase. The fish was probably the freshest sushi I’ve ever had, definitely on par with other Michelin star spots I’ve been to in the city if not better!
Moko Omakase was PERFECT for my business meeting with several prestigious chefs as we needed some inspiration for our own tasting we are planning this forthcoming season. The Fluke was AAAAMAZING! All the fish was so FRESH! Can’t wait for grand opening. If this is the soft launch I’m
Wondering how the grandiose experience will be. Cute spot in the East Village worth giving a go or 10! Will be coming back!
Absolutely phenomenal up and coming Omakase joint, with exceptionally reasonable pricing and a genuine focus on bringing an experience to the food and it’s preparation for the customer. The staff were also super friendly! 10/10 - as soon as you have a chance to experience Moko make sure to take it!!
This new spot is the perfect place for a nice omakase dinner. Fish is excellent and service by Braxton was outstanding! You’re not going to get exotic fish here, but you get an excellent assortment (15-17 courses) at a very fair price. Recommended
If you know what good sushi is, don’t go here. To be honest, it was the worst omakase experience I had. They would pre-cut all the fish slices first (we waited 30min before we got our first piece). And the rice was horrible. It tasted like it had been left out for hours. Out of 15 pieces, they used the flame torch for 8pieces. I couldn’t taste the natural raw fish flavor. And i didnt think uni could taste this bad..
Given the fact that we've never had a bad review on our fish quality EVER and our fish came from japan that morning, there's no way you're being truthful. And you didn't wait 30 mins for food.. You got two appetizers first. You might not know how omakase works; The chef slices the fish in front of you and then prepares the nigiri. Sushi chefs don't ever cut one piece and then do the nigiri.. Also the Uni was flown in from Japan that day. The Owner tasted the uni and there was no problem.
Been to a lot of omakase in the area and this was bt far the best I have had. Went with two friends and they loved it as well. Highly recommend trying if you like sushi
