Mojo Old City Bbq
Went there mid-afternoon on MLK holiday. Chose the restaurant as we like the Jax beach location and the parking exclusive to Mojo’s customers. Well that’s a joke. A car ahead of us pulled into a parking spot, got out and walked right toward downtown, hence not a customer at Mojo’s. How is Mojo’s managing their precious few spots for their customers?? I called the restaurant to say we would be late for reservation due to the parking situation, none available and non-customers parking in lot..the young lady on the phone literally said “ok” and hung up before even asking my name. Simply did not give a hoot.
We ended up finding a parking spot and going there because our kids were hungry and we were in a time crunch. We sat at a high top at the bar. There was a bad smell in the area..like a dirty mop smell. We ordered wings for app, asked for ranch and blue cheese, came out with neither and was 10 minutes before we were able to flag someone down and receive it. I ordered a side item of chili, which was a $2.00 up charge. Fine, but charged $0.50 for cheese and left off the onions, as requested. Also, did not adhere to dietary restrictions as we explained to server, by adding croutons and bread to our plate (requested not to have)
All of this..didn’t feel good about spending $100 for lunch at Mojo’s.
This was some of the best BBQ I have EVER had! We loved the way this restaurant was set up. Dim lighting gave the restaurant a true "old city" feel. The menu had tons of options. Our server was absolutely wonderful. He warned us ahead of taking our order that the kitchen was slammed and it might take a little longer than usual. However, to my surprise our food was out in less than 15 minutes. The mac and cheese is a MUST TRY. We enjoyed our dinner very much and I am extremely thankful we chose this restaurant over the various seafood options. Right in the heart of downtown, after dinner we walked through the city and enjoyed the rest of our night.
I have never left a bad review on OpenTable, but I feel I need to ;( The appetizer was chicken nachos and came out cold with half the cheese in clumps and half still unmelted. We would have sent it back, but by the time a waiter actually returned it had been 20 minutes and our salad was being delivered. While the app came out cold, the wedge salad Came out warm and had so much dressing the lettuce wa wilted and basically swimming in sauce.Took a few bites and pushed aside, again, no one returned to Check until the dinner was being delivered. At that time we just wanted to eat and get out of there. The brisket platter was very fatty but the pulled pork and baked beans were excellent. I would have loved to have used BBQ sauce with the pulled pork, but the assortment of sauce bottles on the table were all filthy and had congealed sauces on the tops,,, totally grossed us out. My husbands sandwich was good but messy, but now we are home and he is sick to his stomach,,, not sure if from the sandwich or warm salad or just overall meal. The waiter was attentive as he could be on a busy night but the experience was not good and we will not be back.
We had a party of 8, they accommodated us right away. The food was great and even better service by Dave!
Nice establishment to go! Was visiting for the night with a friend I and got the Ribs with Mac n cheese and mash potatoes! Very good meal.
We made a reservation after completing our Nights of Lights tour and they were able to accommodate our large group (8 adults and 1 toddler). Food was good and our waitress was nice enough. There were a few hiccups (forgot to bring out one of our plates, side orders for one of us was wrong and a round of drinks took a bit to get to our table), but overall we enjoyed ourselves. The restaurant did comp us the drink that took long without us asking. The bathrooms could’ve used some attention.
Waitress didn’t seem to want to be there. Brisket was pricey and tougher than it should have been and would have expected a little more. Smoked corn was very good.
We have enjoyed dining at Mojo in the past. We like the atmosphere and relaxed but professional service. This was why we chose to eat here on Christmas Eve. The food has always been tasty and affordable. Unfortunately some of our food was cold on this visit. The recook took too long and we didn’t except it upon delivery. The item was comped and all was good. We will return in the future because of our previous experiences.
First time visiting. Food was inviting and waitress was knowledgeable and efficient.
Amazing fall-off-the bone ribs and waiter went above and beyond!!
Good BBQ, not great. Standard BBQ menu. Convenient to all ST A activities.
When we arrived, the hostess seamed like our reservation didn't matter and it was an inconvenience to sit our party of 8. The manager then told her it would be a 10-15 minute wait, though the restaurant was only about half full and the patio was nearly empty. Service after seating was ok, could have been quicker. From sitting to receiving our meal was about 45 minutes. Food was not very good for most of our party. One member had an upset stomach for the next 24 hours.
Great barbecue, good prices, super noisy. The background music just added to the noise.
The service was efficient, attentive and didn’t make us feel rushed. The food was all great which doesn’t seem to happen much at most restaurants lately. Their brand seems to have set a high standard for their staff that they always meet and exceed. It helped make a great family night out even better.
We came here the first night of our honeymoon. Staff was very friendly, food was delicious and service quick!! My husband and I agreed this was the best bbq we’ve tasted!! We shared the whole hog after starting with the pulled pork quesadilla. The food was incredible. Highly recommend!
Burnt Brisket Tips are to die for.
Excellent selection to choose from. Pork,Beef
Turkey, Chicken and Catfish. Collard Greens and MAC and Cheese are top notch.
A complete WALL of Bourbons to choose from and they really go nice with the BBQ
Can’t wait to go back

Food is always good. Burnet ends and smoked wings are excellent. Odd couple drink is very good.
Great barbecue brisket and sauce selection! Patio seating is nice. Enjoyed our experience!
Best bbq and customer service! Andddd best sweet tea I’ve found in town! We are locals who eat here at least 1-2 times a month and always look forward to going back!
A group of 7. There was a misunderstanding about our reservations on Open table but they accommodated is anyhow. The service was very good and wonderful food and cocktails.
We have been to Mojo’s in Jacksonville so we knew that we would enjoy the food. The weather was nice enough for us to sit outside and the service was excellent.
My family and relatives who frequent the best BBQ places in Kansas City were vacationing on the Florida beach and visited Mojo. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and rated the quality of BBQ very high. We sampled all the important BBQ stuff (brisket, ribs, pulled pork). All were great. We are going back next year. There was a very good selection of local draft beers as well.
Food was good but not amazing. Server did a good job with our large party.
Incredible BBQ. Fun atmosphere.
Every time we visit Mojo's provides great food. Took some 'big' BBQ fans from different parts of the USA there and they were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the meat and the variety of the BBQ sauces available. We will be back!
Great fried pickles and burnt ends. Onion rings are huge and have a heavy breading.
We moved from Texas 10 years ago. How did we not know about this place? The food is authentic and delicious. We can’t wait to go again!!
We were rudely greeted and told they don’t accept reservations and don’t know anything about Open Table. It took a long time for a server to come even though there was hardly anyone there. Once we ordered it took at least 15 minutes for our club soda and wine to arrive. Food was ok. Server was shaky and just ok. The experience was a disappointment and I have yet to receive open table points for this meal.
