About this restaurant

Great for craft beers
Great for outdoor dining
Neighborhood gem

Always dreaming but finally formalising the concept in 2012, it all started in a motor home traveling around the USA, blaring Creedence and delving deeper into the craft revolution. We discovered every nook and cranny of the USA craft beer world for six months, brewing, talking, cleaning, talking, cleaning, brewing, and yes, drinking a lot of beer (tough I know).

We returned home to our beloved Northern Beaches with heads full of beer lovin and inspired to brew the best beer in Australia. We are larrikins at heart, but when it comes to our Modus Operandi (Latin for Method of Operation) which put simply is, beer first, no shortcuts, this is where we get real.

Beers are great. Wide variety of beers. Food is good. Nachos are tasty and cheesy. The carpaccio is fine, but I missed accompanying crackers.

I booked a table. When I arrived, I went to announce myself and find out where I would be seated. There was a girl serving, however, 2 others saw that I was waiting and yet, didn’t say anything to me. So I continued to wait!!! I’m a vegetarian, so the menu was limited so I ordered the potato burger with ginger beer option for $25, and ordered another ginger beer for my friend. I was charged $39, and I questioned, “so a ginger beer cost $14” When my friend ordered, unbeknownst to me, also ordered a chicken burger, (which day left half of) and came back with yet another beer. We know had 3 beers between us, which for some people might be great but we only ordered the ginger beer as we thought “when in Rome…” Instead of an additional beer, surely, the girl could have asked if I wanted a refund for my solo beer. We both live in Mona and regularly catch up for dinner. We won’t be coming back

Modus Operandi is a fun place to go with friends for drinks and nice food. The service is good and there’s a good selection of food. The noise level can be a bit loud at times but overall it’s a nice experience.

Modus had a great atmosphere, wide range of beer and non-beer choices. Their XPA was excellent. Awesome, friendly service. Delicious food. Couldn’t fault it!
