First time to MB. Charming servers. Creative menu. It was perfect for the occasion.
Beautiful venue, wonderful wine and food and the staff were all fantastic!
Arrived early for our lunch and were given the option of going downstairs for a wine tasting. So we did. And it was very nice. Outstanding views, spacious, modern tasting room and a very knowledgeable fellow that guided us through a few whites and reds. We ended up buying 3 bottles of wine - so excellent upselling skills from the restaurant host! Dining room is lovely. Again, modern, stellar views of the lake and mountains, and appropriately spaced for these challenging times. Server did a nice job, although when my companion wanted a little more dressing for her salad, the server was not around. Not to worry, another staff member close by took care of it. The menu is not extensive, but there is something for everyone (including allergies and dietary concerns). Our modifications were easily handled and the food was good - if a little expensive. Although, $22 for a burger is in the range of what you find in Vancouver, it’s a bit of a surprise for the Kelowna area. The dinner menu is definitely in the ‘fine dining’ price range, so be prepared. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.
Excellent food /great service/continue to impress us each time we’ve been
Such an amazing place to eat. The appetizers are outstanding and the plant based options are numerous. Will be back
The view was great, food was delicious, service was outstanding, and atmosphere was very chic and cozy. Overall we had a great time and will definitely be back soon.
First time here. We were very impressed with the overall experience! The food and ambience were all highly enjoyable. Service was very good overall and will definitely be going back. Perhaps a little less upscale experience than Mission Hill or Quails Gate but a fabulous experience nonetheless. Will definitely be back!!
Beautiful restaurant with magnificent views. The menu is diverse, many things I wanted to try. The food was the perfect portion, creative and delicious. Our server Britt made the experience amazing. Will definitely be back
PRO: The food was good, the server very friendly.
CON: For us, the atmosphere was more pub like and less winery-dinner like. It was pretty loud, numerous TVs on and sport fans either clapping or swearing loudly. It seems to be a fun place to come with a bunch of friends, but not necessarily perfect for a dinner for two.
Hi there, Thank you for leaving us a review. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your meal and service, however we sincerely apologize if patrons in our establishment were too loud and using profanity while you dined with us. Our service and management team should have intervened to ensure that was not happening. We truly hope to see you again, and if you do come back, please feel free to request a table in our Dining Room away from the two televisions in the lounge. Kind regards, The Modest Team
Their wine portions in the restaurant were very small. I paid $18 for a 5oz glass. Most restaurants in town have us all conditioned to getting either a 6 or 9oz. And when in the large glass it looked very skimpy.
Hi Liam Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a review. In terms of wine pricing, a typical mark up in restaurant is anywhere from 2 to 3 times the cost of retail. The Summit sells for $60 which is about $12 cost per glass. Thus a mark up of 1.5 strikes us as pretty reasonable and is standard across our wine list. We also offer a house wine for $6 and $7 which we also feel provides excellent value and is a price point not often found in most restaurants. We hope to see you again!
We attended the restaurant to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We were greeted and seated quickly. A young lady came with water and told us our server would be by shortly. The section of food and drinks was good. Our waiter was pleasant and knowledgeable of all menu items.
The food arrived quite quickly and we all enjoyed what was served. The plates were hot when served and the quantity was just right. We were in and out in under two hours and never felt rushed at all. Will definitely use this restaurant again.
I sent my parents here for their first time for their 40th wedding anniversary dinner and they loved it!
Impressive, attentive and knowledgeable server. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Food and drinks were wonderful and delicious! We messed up our reservation day but we're fortunately still accomodated. After lunch we went downstairs for an informative and tasty wine tasting! Loved the Chardonnay and Summit!
Top notch service all around.
Fabulous afternoon. Beautiful scenery, gorgeous dining room and fantastic service by Chase. Our meal was visually appealing and the flavor - amazing!! We will definitely be back. Chase was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine and such a pleasure to talk to.
Perfect place to celebrate any occassion. Really good food for all I dined with on February 21st.
Quiet ambiance with of course a view of the mountains and lake.
Helpful waitress with a nice disposition.
Food and service was great. Did a wine tasting first and was wonderful
Food was the best we’ve had in the okanagan! Our expectations were exceeded to the extreme. I had the salmon and my wife had the risotto. Both were superb. Their chef needs to be commended for the perfect blending of flavors in both dishes. Our server, Ash, I believe her name was, in the lounge, was very friendly and checked in the perfect amount without being excessively chatty or interrupting our conversations. We will definitely be returning over and over for date nights.
Steaks were undercooked, service was very bad. I have eaten here before and it was good. This time was a bust
We went for the first time while Dine Around Kelowna was on. Everything was great - will be going again!
We were invited to enjoy a complimentary tasting before dinner while they held our table. Great people, great service great food and great wine. We really enjoyed our first sit down meal in over 6 months.
Yay... finally a causal environment with amazing food and vibe on the westside! Defiantly will be my go to restaurant to take family and friends too!
Everything was fantastic and we look forward to our next visit.
What an unbelievable evening! This is my second experience here and is my favourite place to dine in the valley.
Our server was so lovely! Attentive, informative, organized, charming.
The food was outstanding! We will continue to order what our server suggests as it's always 10/10.
Thank you so much for the best night. I am a chef and own a restaurant in Penticton. It's such a refreshing treat to sit back, relax and watch the evening beautifully unfold.
Amazing meal and service, will definitely go again!
This is a great place to enjoy the terroir of the area. I highly recommend this restaurant during the winter season when things are less rushed and there’s ample parking. You can also squeeze in a wine tasting!
Amazing food; love ‘things on toast’! Can’t wait to go back.
Great lunch! Service was great, the view was spectacular. The wine was excellent.
The menu is fantastic so many great choices!
Service was great and the food was delicious.
Food was average and lukewarm, but overall tasted good. At a winery having three sold out wines on the menu was a little frustrating. The waitress was pleasant, but couldn't hear anything she said due to ambient noise as well as a mask.
For the second time - we were pleased beyond with our time at the Modest Butcher. Our server was lovely and the food over the top!
Great food and great view
Very nice, it was our first time there, the burger was good snd it was wine Wednesday , 35% off of domestic wine!
Tuesdays are the BOMB at the Modest Butcher! Tomohawk and Tannins- A huge tomohawk steak and all the fixings plus a choice of a high end bottle of red wine for $135! It was DELICIOUS!
Many other options for Gluten Free as well, including dessert! AWESOME!
We met Brett the Vineyard Manager and he was a wealth of information and super friendly along with Aaron the bartender and Amy the Server. We did a wine tasting as well but I don't remember the guys name but he was excellent too. Thanks for a great experience. We became Wine Club Members that day as well and were treated like we mattered and that's the experience we are telling our family and friends.
Brenda and Ervin :)
Great service, food and amazing view. I would definitely recommend it to my friends
Amazing service and delicious food! We enjoyed everything on the dine around menu. Highlights for me were things on toast and the espresso brownie dessert! My husband really enjoyed the summit red wine with the steak!
This was our first visit to this restaurant. The new building is architecturally striking. We were very pleasantly greeted and sat at a table next to the big patio windows with a beautiful night view of the lights across the lake. The waiter was very helpful in recommending pre-dinner drinks and dinner wine and in describing menu choices. We shared the Things on Toast starter which was delicious and very creative - apparently the ingredients in this dish always change depending what is available. Ours had goat cheese, brussel sprouts, bacon lardons and great seasoning. For our mains we had the duck confit and braised short rib. The duck confit came with side of greens mixed with beluga lentils, and a fabulous dressing. The short rib was accompanied by a potato pavee and kale with beets. Both entrees were so delicious we had to share. Best dining experience we've had in a very long time!
Food, service and wines are all top shelf. One of my favourite places in the Okanagan to eat, drink and enjoy the beautiful views on the west side. We had the Dine Around 3 course and it was wonderful. How can you go wrong with a pint of bacon, the Cali Cut Steak and chocolate brownie bowl for $45.
We tried the Dine Around Kelowna promotion as an early Valentines dinner, and the food was simply amazing. My wife and I both agreed that it was one of the top food experiences we’ve ever had. We’ll be back for more!
This is my go to restaurant in West Kelowna. Great food, fabulous service and amazing wine!
