I am usually a huge fan of Modern Steak but wasn’t impressed that much tonight. I had the 7 ox filet and even though it was done the way I like it, it didn’t have the flavour that I have had before. It should have been seasoned with salt and pepper before it was grilled. Adding the salt and pepper at the table, as they provided, does not imprint the flavour into the meat. The mashed potatoes were not warm and needed more butter Stalk of broccoli was not warm. Bernaise saw was non descript. One of my dining partners had the crab in a jar and she said there was way too much butter. She only ate half of it. She said that if she has eaten it all she would have been sick. Will be awhile before I come here again. .

Although there were recommendations to have the crab appetizer we found it to be heavy on the butter and light on the crab. The main meals, however, were outstanding!!!!! We highly recommend the red snapper and the incredible vegan dish of cabbage steak. Absolutely wonderful!!!!

NYE Felt very rushed from the moment we sat down. We were asked to order our main when we ordered drinks. I had to ask her if we could have the escargot flatbread to start. What the hell. We shared the surf & turf platter. My husband’s old fashioned was extra sweet when he asked for half sweet. I was finally served my requested 2nd glass of wine when we were finished our meal. The bone-in striploin was very tough, we didn’t it. I have never left a bad comment in my life, but this entire experience was just so disappointing. My “very dirty” martini was clear and tasteless, garnished by 2 hollow olives. We have been to so many steak & seafood establishments here in Calgary - Modern Ocean experience was very poor. We usually look forward to ports & desserts but couldn’t even think about staying 2 minutes longer…

It was nice, the caeser salad was really good. Really liked the truffle popcorn they give you when you sit down. Ribeye was good, mashed was alright. Service here was very thoughtful and quick. All in all we had a good experience. A little pricey for what they serve, But still good.

Dinner was great and the service was excellent. We really enjoyed our time and look forward to our next visit. It was nice that it was a quiet night and we were able to stay and talk for quite sometime - we were not rushed.

The restaurant has a great modern, but warm atmosphere. Three of us shared the seafood platter and we all enjoyed the variety and flavours. My dinner guests were in town for the holidays from France and said the food, wine, service and ambience was excellent. I love the truffle butter popcorn, too!

The food, service and ambiance was superb. No loud music or dim/bright lights. I had the sablefish which was cooked perfectly. My wife and I went on datenight which included a bottle of wine with the meal. I was pleasantly surprised to see the wine was very good. We will be going back as regular patrons indeed. This was our first visit.

Everything was pretty good Food was good Service from a waiting staff point of view was pleasant and good Request for a change of table was easy and good - original booth for 6 people just way too tight Something to improve on us although we got a good change of table with appropriate space, it was against the wall and just way too cold - the restaurant should know this and adjust for temperature So we did ask for the heat to be raised, first individual said sure, and did nothing Had to ask our actual waitress who did get it done and the heat did raise, but this was well into our meal

Decent food and great service, but way too expensive for what you get. It was $100 for a 7oz filet and small 6oz lobster tail! I’d rather hit up a fine dining restaurant for these prices.

Went for my girlfriends birthday. Our server was Taylour R whom was very outgoing and made good recommendations when it came to our wine selection. Exceptional service over all! We had the seafood platter which we would come back for again!
