Modena never disappoints. From the time you arrive, you’ll be met with top tier customer service and some of the best food that your tastebuds have experienced. We love the tasting menu because you’re in the hands of the chef, who never disappoints. We love this place!

This is a terrific restaurant serving fine continental food by a great wait staff. From appetizer to main course to desert, each bite was delicious. Definitely will go back and many thanks to our fine waiter who was both very knowledgeable and attentive. Modena is what every great restaurant should be.

Great overall dining experience

My husband and I dined at Modena for my birthday and it did not disappoint! From the impeccable service to the delicious food, we were so pleased with the entire experience. I highly recommend the Roasted Pork Ragu. Our server, Petra, was top notch! I can't say enough about how knowledgeable and friendly she is. We don't live in DC but will most definitely revisit Modena when we return! Thanks to everyone there for making my birthday special!

The service was amazing and the food was incredible

Chef John Melfi"s technique and his creativity it's printed in every dish. Last night I had a wine suggested by Victor and it's a blend that Brian McGahee (general manager and sommelier) came up with in a Californian winery:"Raymond Cabernet Sauvignon" it has a smooth vibrant taste, another reason to go back to Modena! A simple dinner they turn it into a special event food, wine and service, could not be better!

Thank you for making my birthday dinner so magical! Chef Melfi put together a fabulous tasting menu for our small group and we enjoyed every single bite! The wine pairing was spot on as well. We couldn’t have anticipated a better experience—from our phenomenal waitress, the super accommodating host, perfect ambiance, and of course the food—we’ll be returning, without a doubt!

We had the custom 5 course menu! The service was great, we were given the food in a timely manner, but not too quick that we hadn’t finished the prior course

It was a nice experience the food and wine pairing was excellent. Friendly and attentive staff, highly recommended. Took a while to sit me despite my reservation but it was worth the wait.

Loved the food and ambience!

The dining room on the right side was less crowded and beautiful with high ceilings and wonderful ambiance. Food was very good but not up to par with some other elevated restaurants for the value. We wanted to be surprised for the five course tasting menu with pairing which was fun but the waiter never came and told us what we as being presented. We asked and then he would tell us. The wine pairing was good. Unfortunately I received all white wine for the first four courses and would have been nice to have a red in there. Overall I would not mind going there again and order off the menu in the future. Atmosphere is worth it.

Great food but portions are too small to just order one entree. This is no Maggiano’s so don’t expect leftovers. I definitely recommend the Tortellini & meat balls.

This was my second time here and I'll add "consistency" to my last outstanding review. The menu is fantastic and the service is wonderful in all respects.

This was my first time dining at Modena and what a wonderful experience! Although the restaurant was very busy, the service was outstanding. Not only was it fast and efficient, it was, well, gracious. Moreover, the food was amazing - a prefect blend of classics done well (the lasagna will be the best you have had in your life!) and imaginative variations in salads and seafood dishes. The atmosphere is warn and inviting - even with pandemic distanced seating. I highly recommend this place for any occasion, but especially for a "date-night" as we emerge from the long winter of limited dining options. One final note: for some reason I do not understand, the pricing at Modena is much less than one would expect.

This was a wonderful experience! I came here for my birthday and got the chefs tasting menu! The waitress Petra was wonderful so helpful and funny. The chef was fabulous too. Overall ambiance was so peaceful and tranquil. The food was next next level. Each dish was better then then next. Highly recommended! This place was 5 stars food, service and ambiance!

We enjoyed the second of Modena's Taste of Italy series. This time the region of Tuscany. Once again, the food and service were excellent. I enjoyed the wine pairing, and, once again, it was fabulous. The Taste of Italy series is excellent and we recommend it highly.

We had 2 chances to eat out in DC this weekend... we chose Modena over 3 other places.... absolutely glad we chose it for all the reasons listed.... blown away !

I never write reviews on restaurants. My dining experience at Modena requires an exception. Everything about my meal and experience at Modena was amazing. The staff, the food, the ambience was impeccable.

Outstanding food and customer service, on par with Michelin star restaurants

Modena has the best Chef in DC, all of his dishes are executed perfectly and he seals them with his love for food.
Perfect impeccable service, they don't charge you extra, and you will dine in a relaxed atmosphere.
The decor is sophisticated, lovely music and everybody offers you a warm smile!

Can't get enough!

Comfortable Weather today allowed me to dine comfortably in the spacious outdoor tent arrangement without the need for the adjacent propane heater to even be turned on. This was my first time enjoying a Happy Hour in over a year.

We had a fabulous "Taste of Tuscany" pre fixe dinner last Tuesday. The food was excellent, and one of us enjoyed a fabulous inexpensive wine pairing. Service was impeccable. We are booked next week for the Piedmont region's food.

Modena is a wonderful Italian restaurant that should be at the top of everyone's dining list. Food is divine, service is perfect and is terrific for lunch. Highly recommend!

Petra, Brian and the whole staff was phenomenal!! The food was AMAZING. We did the 7 course tasting with the wine pairing and everything was absolute perfection and a work of art. I would go back here 100000000%

Wonderful food and service. The restaurant is so beautiful inside. A delightful way to spend an evening downtown.

I came here for my 21st birthday and it was quit the experience... Our server Victor was excellent and on point, informing us in detail what was in every dish. The thing I loved the most was the vibes and the energy. Everyone was so welcoming and attentive to us I will definitely be coming back!

Food and ambiance are always fantastic!

Starting to be a regular here, but tried the 5 course tasting menu for the first time and it was great, perfect portions, good wine pairing, wish I had done the 7!

Enjoyed another outstanding meal at Modena! From start to finish, every dish was top-notch. Service was also excellent. For reliably creative and satisfying Italian cuisine, Modena delivers!

They had run out the soft drink I ordered and without esitate, bartender stepped out to buy for me the soda I ordered!!!

Great 5 course tasting menu plus yummy drinks among the best meals in town

Buen servicio, todos muy amables. Comida muy buena pero las porciones exageradamente pequeñas.

This experience was just OK, mostly because of the food. We had four dishes from the a la carte menu. The salmon “raviolo” was by far the best. We had the tortellini which was good, but there were literally only 5 small pieces of tortellini in the dish, priced at over $20, I was expecting a bit more. Not sure we’ll be back.
