The food is delicious! But the real deal are the margaritas! I got a flight of them, pineapple, blueberry, and lime. The pineapple was the best! I had the chimichanga, excellent! My husband had the quesadilla. He sent it back because it was cold. Unfortunately, it came back still not that hot. He, however, only eats smoking hot food. The server was sweet and attentive. All in all I will be back.

Best Mexican food in Dayton. Not your typical Tex-Mex restaurant of which there are many in Dayton. Starting with the Blue Corn Chips and Salsa we knew this was going to be a cut above the rest and it was.

Everything from start to finish was top notch. This was my second time there. I had a good experience the first time for margs with a friend, so I suggested it for our book club, bc I wanted to try their food. We are a group of four, and every single one of us loved our food, loved our drinks, loved the atmosphere. Our server Kiley was everything you want in a server - personable, accurate, attentive, but not overly. The manager came around to talk to us, to make sure we were enjoying our experience. That’s the difference maker right there, in my opinion. A restaurant will always run well when management is visible and caring. I would recommend Mode X for pretty much any occasion - fun with friends, or dinner with family. Happy to have it as both a drinks and dining destination!

First time in this new Mexican restaurant. I hope they succeed. We arrived at 6.30 and it was not busy at all. It is a large place, pleasantly decorated. Our waitress was very good and knowledgeable . The food was adequate, the menu is very Americanized, the flautas were good. The fajita was described as grilled vegetables and rice on corn tortilla. There were a few grilled vegetables and a lot of potatoes. Everything was fresh and prepared on order. We may give it another try.

The hospitality manager was GREAT. He always is, I remember him from Oceano. The manager at the front walked past us several times never spoke. I noticed he engaged at other tables. The waitress was nice and knowledgeable about food selections. Our first time trying, the set up is the same as previous establishment, Bar Louie.

The food was good and service at the table excellent. There was a little bit of confusion about seating. My reservation requested outside if possible. The restaurant was not crowed and I am not sure my reservation request was even looked at when I arrived. Overall a decent experience. We were able to sit at a table of our choice outside once we asked.

Good food, drinks were too juicy for me. I had the viva Mexico which was good but I felt it had too much passion fruit. It was loud so quite conversation wasn’t an option.

For a bar advertised as a tequila bar, their selection of tequilas were very limited and not the best ones. The margaritas were not very good. Food was ok. Probably not a do-again.

Our server was great, very good at anticipating our needs. I was stunned by how loud the music was when we walked in the door but the area we were seated in wasn’t as loud. Fell in love with the salsa and the blueberry margarita. It was our first time there, but we’ll go back.

The hostess with the red bow today was absolutely gorgeous and so sweet!! She was outstanding and very kind we loved her, she greeted us and said goodbye which was some amazing service!!! Our server was amazing as well and the music was a good vibe. The food was amazing and super delicious definitely will be coming back!!!

The food and staff were good. I gave it three stars because: 1) my husband felt that an establishment such as this should have a skinny margarita, 2) we had a tamale cake as an appetizer...even though it tasted great, it was barely enough for one person let alone two people. Not only was it tiny, it was $14.00. For $15 you get an entire entree at El Torro, so the amount, presentation and cost were ridiculous. I was expecting it to be similar to the tamale cakes at the Cheesecake Factory (which are excellent). I had Carne Asada as an entree. It was very good.

While the restaurant has potential it missed the mark during our dining experience. The girls at the hostess stand were braiding each others hair which isn’t very professional. We ordered multiple items; appetizers, soup, salad, and entrees. Instead of coming out as courses our server brought everything at once and the appetizer several minutes after salad, soup, and entrees came out. Our server was nice but forgetful. She didn’t refill water even when indicating she would several times. The food wasn’t very good and unimpressive. The soup was a few pieces of chicken in broth only 1/2 filled in a small bowl. Not the Mexican soup loaded with veggies I was hoping for. Our entrees were so salty we could barely eat them. Overall, this place has potential but needs a lot of work. I don’t think I’ll be returning.

Host and bartender were both extremely rude to us upon arrival. Pushed us to order within 2 mins of being seated, and watched us as we ordered drinks. They should not have a reservation open for 9:30, if they do not want anyone there. Felt very unwelcome, rushed and urgent. Will not be going back. Food was subpar.

Rates 3,stars not for lack of trying or quality but because it is more nuvo Mexican or Mexican fusion. Tacos were flavorful but not a traditional taco. If you are looking for traditional Mexican food this is not the place. So bottom line: check the menu first to be sure it meets your expectations.

If you're stopping in for drinks and and an app, this place isn't bad. I would not recommend dinner. We were seated just under a speaker and we could barely carry on a conversations since we couldn't hear each other. Our server seemed stretched too thin. And it sounded like the back of the house was struggling too since they were running out of glasses and the place wasn't even close to full.

The server made the experience one in which we would not return. As soon as he took our order without writing it down, we knew we were in trouble. Mistakenly rang wrong food and was all over the place so hard to even track down most of the time. Some food came out not really even warm (for example, the flaming queso was cold - how is that even possible?) . We got the signature margarita…tiny, not great, and $12! One person got the pork belly tacos - it was missing the pork belly (not really, but such a pathetic amount of protein that it basically was a joke. More pineapple than protein - maybe they should rename them?). The server couldn’t’ figure out how to split the check (again, he didn’t write anything down so how could he know who got what. Oh yeah - and one of the apps came out after dinner did. WTF? I’m assuming he’s because he forgot to ring it in (so when we asked where it was all of a sudden it showed up). We also ordered the tamale cakes…basically three bites for $14. Pretty ridiculous. When he did bring out some of the food (after half the table was already done eating), he wasn’t even sure what a quesadilla was vs. a sope. The ONLY bright spot was I got the tequila pasta, and really have no complaints about it - really delicious. The service was very poor - and at those prices, you can’t have poor service. Very sad to write this as we had been looking forward to trying it for months!

Nice place...environment..not too busy at first at 5pm on a Friday but definitely picked up. Happy hour prices on certain drinks and some appetizers from 3-6 M-F. Have to pay for chips but they were very good with either guac or salsa. We had different margaritas and beer. Margaritas were very flavorful and tasty. In general, all the food was very good. Portions perhaps a bit on the small side for the price but all in all a good place to eat. Would defininitly go back...would be a fun place even just for appetizers and drinks during happy hour !

Went in for my wife’s birthday, table beside us came in later for a birthday and got solid service…we did not. Didn’t even ask about the birthday or anything. Our server didn’t seem like he wanted to wait on us? Chef was awesome I’d give him 5 stars, delivered our food and had great charisma! Food was all very good. Drinks were strong but the House margarita I got was not good. They were out of egg whites which I love in my cocktails so they couldn’t make me tequila sour they had on menu. Ambiance was pretty cool, loved the lighting and music.

Had a reservation for 8 pm but was early so went to the bar. Service started out great, but then they forgot about us as the bar. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. We got the drinks quick enough but never got the appetizer. Then we had to talk to a bartender at 8:30 to find out what happened to our table and appetizer. Got seated at 8:35 and the service at the table was mediocre at best as well. Drinks were average and so was the food. Will not go again.

We decide to try this place and it was good. Some of the appetizers were pricey for the size such as the tamale cakes. The Carne Asada is stated served Medium Well, mine was done and dried. I could not finish it. The drinks are good and again very small in size.
