We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Mockingbird. We shared the burrata appetizer and it was delightful. I had the mussels for my main - the flavors were unexpected, perfect, and the spice level was just right. We shared the bread pudding, strawberry shortcake, and guittard chocolate budino for dessert and they were special in their own way. Don't sleep on the cocktails, they're a must try. I enjoyed The Community Garden, the flavor is difficult to describe but I definitely recommend.

I made a reservation for two for lunch. I ordered the meatballs and my friend ordered the lasagna. The food was phenomenal! So tasty, great service and wonderful play list playing in the background made the ambiance very cool. I highly recommend you book your table!

The Main dining area was nice but we were seated in the upstairs loft, which is more an after-thought for additional seating. Despite for having made our reservation a week ahead of time, and the restaurant being half empty when we arrived, we were sat in the back of the upstairs loft where you lost all the ambience. We ordered 2 appetizers and 3 cocktails. . Despite having very nice descriptions and looking forward to trying many of the menu items, the tastes were average. They presented well, but the taste/flavor wasn’t impressive. The high costs of each item was a let down once you had your first bite. It’s not that it’s terrible food, just that’s it’s not great which means the let down is in the value. I’ll pay almost anything for great food that makes me want more and more and puts a smile on my face. So it’s not the price alone, it’s when you pay a lot for average tasting food and find that across multiple dishes. I will say my friend had the benzino fish, which he says was exceptional.

What a great neighborhood gem. We were visiting from LA - and our friend who is an artist in Oakland recommended this restaurant. We walked there from our hotel and was warmly greeted by the Host. The restaurant was buzzing with a mix of families, friends, and business people. There is a full bar but it is a more pleasant vibe rather than too loud and trendy or too stuffy. The food was great and the menu varied for many different tastes. We loved our server and we also liked the cocktails. It was reasonably priced so you could frequent it regularly (if we lived locally). I know our friend goes there often.

I am happy there is a spot like this in downtown Oakland. Eating outside was surprisingly pleasant and quiet. Food was very good. My friend and I shared an entree salad and the lasagna. Service was very good.

Our waiter was awesome, made us feel welcome, and comfortable. Food was great, we had the lasagna and pasta carbonara for our main course. We started off with the salmon bruschetta and brussel sprouts. For dessert we had the banana bread pudding and affogato. We will come back again.

Wow! Everything was amazing! From the moment we stepped in to the very end, everything was top notch. The vibe, the food, the service, everything exceeded my expectations and was possibly the best restaurant I’ve been to in over a year. The rhubarb burrata was my favorite. I don’t even care for vegetables but the asparagus was so good I was fighting my husband for more. We couldn’t choose from the entrees so we each had a pasta and shared the meatballs. For dessert we had the panna cotta and bread pudding, both were great. I don’t remember the severs names (I think Scott & Derrick?) but they were also great. This is now our favorite date night spot! We will definitely be back.

An experience to forget. Nice welcome at the front door but that was it. The service was very slow, the food was cold and tasteless. And on top of that, very expensive for just the mains we’ve ordered.

We had a lovely dinner. Staff could not have been more attentive, food was delicious and different. The only thing not great was the noise level. But that did not spoil our meal! Be sure to order the garlic bread. Fantastic!

Food is good, noise can get pretty loud. Be sure to have patience, service is very slow but in a chill vibe way, not in an incompetent way. Mockingbird was perfect for our team bonding over dinner.

The staff was very accommodating and allowed our party to sit and talk for two hours. The tuna melt was the best tuna sandwich I have ever eaten. I miss the egg salad sandwich that they used to have, but the tuna won over my taste buds! The mushroom sandwich looked very delicious too. I would definitely recommend a trip to this cozy Oakland gem.
