Mockingbird Bar + Garden
Mockingbird Bar + Garden is a food and drink focused gathering place in a lively, convivial setting, stylishly designed to create memorable experiences. Inspired by our desire to serve and create a sense of community we offer the perfect mix of locally sourced healthy food all cooked from our wood-fired oven. Our incredible cocktails, local beer and coffee bar combined with our events will certainly make you a regular.
The staff is pretentious and rude. There is approximately 8 items to choose from on the “dinner” menu. The men’s bathroom doesn’t lock because they installed the knob improperly. Their signature cocktail was tasty, I’d go there for that only.
Interesting menu with very good small plates. Mushroom pizza was ok but not memorable. Kind of dry. Service sitting at bar was great. Very good cocktail menu. Atmosphere is very “alive”. Noise from outside band on patio overflowed inside. It’s a small place so noise bounces around. I’d come back for the. appetizers and cocktails
We will be back
Great experience. Modest menu but delicious. I'm recommending Mockingbird to all my friends. Very special experience. No 5 course meals but very satisfying menu. Lovely inside and out.
Very inviting restaurant,bar and garden.
The food is so fresh and uniquely prepared and served.very friendly staff..and the decor is so well put together..even the bathroom is so cute..the garden is very inviting dog friendly, and fresh water served outside and a firepit...we will be back.highly suggest giving it a try.
The food was incredible and the staff is very friendly - they are all so gracious and aim to please those that dine with them.
Great atmosphere! Friendly & knowledgeable staff. Food is great, just wish there were a few more options. We have already begun to recommend to friends & family.
This place knocks it out of the park every time. Unique and delightful menu. Great people. Kathleen is always very cordial. Regardless of whether it is Sunday brunch or evening, I have never been disappointed.
Kathleen was so helpful & attentive to get us a great table for the 6 of us. We were from out of town, having a family visit. We were able to visit & enjoy the lovely meal. Loved all the appetizers & delicious pizzas.
We had an amazing experience. Very welcoming and personal touches at the table. The deviled eggs are to die for - beware there is quite a horseradish kick to them. The white bean spread is delish - save some to spread on your pizza crust. We tried all four pizzas on the menu - favorite was the ricotta arugula. Only problem was the wait for our pizzas. I believe our order was forgotten and put in late. Many tables came and went while we still waiting. But the drinks flowed and the convo was good.
Will DEFINITELY come back 💕
Great Place. Great Service.
Owner was on site interacting with patrons. Welcoming and charming.
We will be back.
Wonderful time. Very good food and presentation. Quite creative and delightful. Portions were just fine and not overwhelming. Atmosphere was very inviting. Hope to ride our bikes back here again soon and bring friends.
Amazing food and good bar! Love this place!
What a great experience at this intimate restaurant. It’s really quite small with only about 7 or so tables, mostly for two. The bar seating is where it’s at and they accommodate groups of four or 6 at the ends of the bar. Nice sized patio. Great staff. While the menu is pretty darn tiny, everything we tasted was top shelf delicious. Some of the best pizza I’ve ever tasted anywhere. Really a perfect experience.
This restaurant/bar/garden is the gem of East Dundee. The decor catches the eye and drags you in, sophisticated yet unpretentious. The chef and cooks take their time curating a menu that pleases the palette. The drinks, both coffee and alcoholic, are crafted with extreme care and flavor, I have not had anything better outside of downtown Chicago. I would highly recommend everyone go enjoy the patio or indoor (with garage door) and say hi to the owner, she is as friendly and welcoming as they come.
The atmosphere is always inviting, the staff is friendly and talented and the food and drinks are delicious! My favorite place in town!
Small, simple, but DELICIOUS plates and fantastic cocktails. Their pizza is so good; they haven definitely perfected their crust! Can't wait to go back.
This was our first visit. The restaurant is small, but beautifully decorated. There is seating inside at the bar, as well as some tables for 2 and 4, a garage door that can be opened when the weather is nice, and seating outside as well. We chose to sit at the bar. Santana took care of us - he was terrific. I ordered a Honeyed Paloma on his recommendation. I don't usually drink tequila, but it was mixed with grapefruit and lime and it was delicious. We ordered several small plates: radishes with ramp butter, the blue cheese plate, the arugula salad, and the whitefish jar. The radish plate was a nice starter, crisp and fresh. The ramps gave the butter a mild garlic/onion flavor that went well with the radishes. The blue cheese plate contained generous chunks of a creamy blue cheese, topped with a small watercress salad, dried currants and walnuts. Loved the flavors. The whitefish spread was in a small jar atop a wooden cutting board, accompanied by thin toasts and a shaved asparagus salad with fresh herbs (dill, parsley). It made a perfect crostini with the creamy, lightly smoked whitefish spread topped with some of the veg/herbs. We finished with the special "pie", which I might add, is cooked in the beautiful blue pizza oven. As a side note, everything that needs to be "cooked" is done in the pizza oven. The pie was shaved asparagus, lemon zest, and a special pecorino cheese (calabrian?). The chef offered a sample of the cheese, it was mild, nutty and delicious. The pie had a nice thin crust, and the edge crust was nicely chewy.
We loved our first visit, and are anxious to return and try the items that we missed! Highly recommend.
Very cute place right next to the bike path. Gorgeous interior. Food is tasty and styled perfectly. Every thing looks Instagram ready!
Oh em gee. Love love this place. I only found out about it from my first bike run this year. I knew something was in the works last year but omg this place is so cozy so cute instagram worthy! There isn’t much on the menu but that’s all you need is a few but very good selection. Drinks were nice and stiff. We had the wild mushroom pizza.... best pizza ever!!! We will definitely return.
Good food, good service. An enjoyable time.
We had brunch at Mockingbird several months ago...it was fantastic! A five-star rating. However, on our next visit (a recent Friday night) we tried the pizza and one of the jarred spreads. The jar was fantastic, but the pizza was a little more burnt than I liked. Nothing to write home about and a little disappointing. This will not deter me from returning to this gem of a spot, however, as maybe this particular rainy Friday night might have been a little off.
Such a nice place to have in down town E. Dundee! Small so make reservation for sure! Excellent crafty cocktails with good local beers and wine list. Nice small plates (def. go for their deviled eggs) and ridiculously delicious wood-fired pizzas, perfect for 2 people.
Mockingbird is a quaint, cozy gem, the menu is unique and very reasonable in price. The service exceeded my high expectations in friendliness, professionalism and promptness.
Don’t miss this incredible dining experience!
Drinks were great but pricey. Pizzas (mushroom and the arugula/ricotta ones) were very good. Small plates that a friend ordered were yummy. Service was slow but server was pleasant and accommodating. Love the atmosphere. Good for small party get togethers. The outdoor areas look like they will be awesome in the warmer weather. Nice addition to East DUNDEE!
Cute place, nice decor and upscale bites but service was poor. Ordered drinks and they were out of Sprite and Prosecco, which for a restaurant with a small drink selection is pretty bad. Food took 40 minutes to come out, and they only brought out one small plate at a time. Wouldn’t recommend unless they get their act together.
It’s different, tiny, and intriguing. We chose the Prix Fixe Mother’s Day Menu. The portions were smaller than I expected and Deviled Eggs with Trout Roe looked quite bare on the plate. My broiled asparagus heart was delicious with the aioli, but again tiny on a very small plate. The crostini was delicious and filling, the dessert was good, but not remarkable. Mockingbird is very stylish with truly excellent and personable service. I will definitely try it again.
This is a delightful restaurant. It is cozy and small with an outdoor seating area. The food is very good, especially anything from the wood-fired oven! I had a crostini with leeks and eggs that was scrumptious. The artichoke hearts from the oven were also delicious. This place is really worth a try. It is a unique and lovely experience.
Charming atmosphere with a unique and simple menu of tasty delights! The pies are incredible, and when paired with a signature cocktail you just can’t ask for more!
A group of us met for my birthday in the evening. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We all loved the ambiance. What a great addition to the area!
The service was excellent. The atmosphere was beautiful. By the far the best bathroom I’ve ever seen in a restaurant. It’s a great place for appetizers and a drink, or a pizza cooked in the fire roasted pizza oven. Great healthy farm to table options.
Fun and relaxing evening, food was exceptional and overall ambience was great, from service with an engaging waitress. Drinks were awesome!!
The food and drinks were delicious! Definitely very unique offerings and I can't wait to come back and try more things! The decor inside is very pleasant and the outdoor area looks very inviting, though it was too chilly to enjoy this visit.
The Mockingbird Bar & Garden is very small (indoors). It's decor is reminiscent of Fixer Upper, farm/industrial, light, many windows, airy colors, and bar. The Sunday brunch menu offered a limited selection. We ordered and shared the deviled eggs, which had salmon roe (too salty for our tastes) and an amazing 5 star smoked whitefish pate. The cocktails and espresso was delicious. We had the Mockingbird signature cocktail, overall delightful. We will go back.
Great neighborhood restaurant with fresh ingredients from salad option to vegetables and wood fired pizzas. So good. So fresh. So yummy and such a fun evening. Servers were so friendly and we loved loved.
The whole experience felt like as if it was from a story book. The ambience so fresh and farmhouse like. Attention to the details were perfect. Food was very fresh and tasty. Arugula was so tender in our pizza. Cocktails were out of the world. Definitely going to make this a weekly tradition. The owner Kathleen is so sweet and personable. We will be going back this Saturday for their pastries and lattes.
The menu varies from week to week offering new choices each time we are there. Always beautifully presented, we have enjoyed each of our dining experiences at the Mockingbird. The staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive.
Shared plates: good food! Pleasantly surprised! Some things on the menu were not available the night we were there.. but we were happy with our meal: wood burning oven made it fun!
We had such a lovely evening. My sister and I, our husbands and our parents met for dinner. We probably ordered everything on the menu and did not have one bad item. The food was to die for not to mention the bottles of wine we ordered. I highly recommend Mockingbird for the food, drinks and wonderful ambiance.
We are thrilled to have found our favorite new restaurant. The food is outstanding - the woodfired pizzas are the best we have had anywhere. Beautiful space, friendly people. We plan to return to try everything on the menu - one visit at a time!
