It was very good. Service was great. Food is very tasty. Highly recommend.
Great meal with friends, tapas style. Ceviche Mixto, Salad Andino, Salmon Bandido, bouillabaisse. Super tender calamari. Delicious. Also had flan, which was very tasty. And of course don't miss a Pisco Sour.
Only challenge was that the dining room got quite loud at times.
The food is excellent. The service is friendly but on the night we were there the staff was somewhat overwhelmed. The environment is casual and comfortable. We will go often.
My husband and I shared an excellent beet salad, some calamari (loved the two sauces), some tasty scallops, and a very tender beef short rib preparation. The flan and some shortbread cookies were a great finish to the meal. If we lived closer, we would be back there often.
Very slow service - nothing came in order - wrong wine - food was very spicy even though we asked before we ordered. Deserts was good
We went for my cousin’s birthday. All the food was delicious! The churros and alfajores were the best.
What’s not to love.
Classic Peruvian food served in a fuss free atmosphere.
A friend was visiting us from out of town and we took him to one of our favorite restaurants in the city, local gems. Casual and friendly, it was easy to be seated and order right away. The menu has many great options for quick bytes and plates to share, so we sampled a variety of things. Drinks are well-crafted and have a Peruvian heritage as well. Pisco sour was fantastic!
Amazing food, but too loud! If you want to catch up with friends over a meal, expect to yell.
Mochica is a solid spot!
Great service and meal
the service was impeccable.our waiter jorje was top notch.the chicharones were good as were the mac and cheese, but the other dishes we ordered were bland and in the case of the short ribs, dry and lack lustre.
Terrible service. Bar is extremely slow and they don’t get your order correct. Had to send my drink back. Waiter gave our check to another table and their check to us. After it already went through on our respective credit cards we brought it to the waiter’s attention, who still did not get it right. In the end I had to go to the other table to make sure we were all ok with the transaction. Never going there again.
I love this place
We loved this restaurant so much that we went back two nights in a row on our visit to San Francisco. The food on the menu is very different, and the four choices we had were all spectacular! Quinoa encrusted shrimp, paella, short ribs, and bouillabaisse all excellent. The only negative is that the tables are close and the second night we had a very loud man next to us ago was using profanities. Fortunately we were finished before it got too bad. No fault of the restaurant’s.
The food was eh. The first time we went we got the pork shoulder which was amazing and the anticuhos were amazing as well! But the last time we got the Peruvian paella and it was too soggy and it lacked flavor...
We will go again but that plate wasn’t the best.
The food was great. The service struggled to provide support for the kitchen. The big problem the night we were there was how cold the dining room was. We ate in our rain costs.
Had a lovely valentines at Mochica, the food was delicious and so were the drinks. It was a bit on the pricey side for the volume of food, but each dish was fun and tasty. The largest downside was that my partner and I came here after a day of fasting, and I ended up violently ill a couple hours after the meal (he was fine). The only thing we didn’t share was my sangria!
The plate sizes were perfect for sharing. The cebiche was that best since I first tasted it in Cuzco 45 years ago. Everything was tasty. We loved the vibe, energetic and creative. The drinks were winderful, especially the gin martini with mint and basil.
There were four of us cebrating two birthdays. It was the first time we ate at Mochica. We are eager to go back.
Good food, ordered two different steak items from the menu. Food came out pretty quick. Chips and salsa were brought out right as soon as we sat down, although the salsa dish was so shallow you could only dip your chips in it. We showed up together, clearly dressed for a date, server tried seating us in the noisier "bar" side, had to ask twice to be sat in the conversation-friendly other room with the rest of the patrons. Pretty nice, girlfriend was pleased with the cozy feel of the neighborhood when we arrived by ride-share. Would eat here again.
Fried plantains were excellent
Delicious food and excellent service, with a laid-back atmosphere.
Excellent Peruvian food in a pleasant ambience. The menu was really short on items for vegetarians but they were able to accomadate us with great tasting alternatives not on the menu.
We didn't know anything about this place, but needed a table for 6, last minute. Felt a little uncertain despite pretty good reviews. We were very happy with the whole experience. Food was excellent, service also excellent. I'd go again, for sure. Recommend the ceviche, the empanadas, pollo saltada, and the paella. Everything was fresh and tasty.
Food was great, the server was very sweet but it took some time before we got our dishes and drinks. She comped our wine due to the wait, very nice! It was New Years Eve so understandable to be swamped. The food was amazing, they fused Asian inspired flavors with classic Peruvian dishes. Would love to go again!
Great food! Good portions, outstanding costumer service from Rwana.
Food is starting to slip. Remember it being better.
Food was delicious! Seating can be tight, but intimate.
I loved the food. The noise volume was really Hug and made conversation difficulty. But the decorations and cocktails definitely made it worth while.
Delicious food, well done cocktails.
Started with a cocktail (a gimlet with mint and basil), so refreshing!
Shared an order of ceviche mixto, all of the seafood was stunningly fresh and flavorful.
Ordered the aji de gallina and pulpito (octopus) dishes. Loved the aji de gallina, delicious flavors. The pulpito was well prepared, but I didn't love the spice mix. No knocks on the chef, that was my personal preference.
Only one warning: as in many SF restaurants, the tables are fairly close together, so your experience rests on who your neighbors are. It wasn't an issue with the party on one side of us. However, the party at the table on the other side included a woman who had an incredibly shrill voice and spoke very loudly. It was difficult to have a conversation after she sat down.
Awesome... Drinks are excellent. Plates are big, bad place for a diet.
Friend from Bosnia visiting
Food was good but the dining room was extremely loud. It was hard to hear a regular conversation.
Always delicious here. Good service and good value.
I have nothing against the food in Mochica...it's tasty, and so are the drinks. But have something against the price of the food. Much of the menu is small plate tapas, but with prices of $15-20, these tapas very quickly add up to a major price tag. My dining partner and I elected to take mains, instead, which were priced in the $25 range. That's an OK option, but not a desirable one when you'd rather have several interesting nibbles at a cost that doesn't break the bank. I won't rush back.
Good meal. Maracuya sours are worth the trip alone. Empanadas are fantastic. Very good Ceviche and roasted chicken.
The food was good but they were not very accommodating of gluten free options and the service was slow. Didn’t get water or attention for 10 minutes after we sat down. The waitress was nice was also giggling and distracted while we ordered. Unlikely to go again and better options nearby in Potrero.
Service was slow even though servers were nice. Food was not good compared to other Peruvian restaurants in the city.
Mochica is a different neighborhood gym. The food is terrific the service is wonderful. It is very noisy the Acoustics are somewhat lacking. However it is a delightful place to try some excellent Peruvian dishes. My ahi tuna which I found on the short menu for Tapas, was delicious
Amazing food and music
